  It doesn't really feel like a sniper game. It was more like far cry with meh story except the graphics are good yet gets boring from time to time Steam really needs to have neutral review

  This is the third game in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series that I've played, and this is definitely the worst one. The transfer to open world is good for a game like this because it gives the player many different ways to approach a mission. However, the bad story, terrible writing and graphics that look older than the game actually is, make it hard for me to recommend it to anyone. Don't buy unless it's on sale.

  To start things off, this is a game that I can't recommend at full price. But if you like stealth games and sniping then it could still be a game worth renting or getting it later when it is on sale. So why can't I recommend it? Well first of all, the devs seem a bit unsure of what they wanted to do with the game, so there is not so much sniping as there is sneaking around with your silenced pistol. It is in fact very similar to Far cry 3/4, but not as good as either of those. You run around an open world, and there are these weird limitations that make npc's disappear after a certain range. And this range varies from 150-700m. For example, there was this one target at a cabin that I was planning on sniping from across a small lake. So I send in the drone, mark everyone and set myself up. But I was surprised to see that unable to see any of them. And she did not load in until I got to about 150-200m. Took a few steps back and she disappeared again. So the number one feature of the game is ruined by these limitations, which really is a shame as the sniping is actually quite fun. Numerous crashes and relatively low performance for a game that does not have the most stunning graphics out there also does not help its already bad rep. Had it been released in 2012 then it would have been acceptable overall, but it just feels outdated and in my opinon does not bring anything fresh or particularily interesting as a game experiece. Which is a shame as I looked forward to it.

  After finishing the story, all the side missions and getting 100% on this game, my opinion on this game is neutral. If I compared this to Ghost Warrior 2, it has major improvements, still this game cant reach the level of Sniper Elite IP. On to the review. Story: I dont have much to say for the story, its a generic younger brother finding older brother who got captured by a secret society. I give 3 chances to guess the plot and the ending. Seriously, nothing groundbreaking. Sound & music: The music in this game is good, I dont if it's a Russian language or Polish, but I like it. It plays on loading screen and the main menu, its like a folk song. The sound of the gun and the sound when my shot hit the enemy are solid. But the sound of the world isnt much, because the world is empty flat boring, aside from the howling of the wolf, reindeer, footstep, pretty much is silent. The enemies also have a conversation, but most of the time are repeatable. The dialogue can be cheesy, sometimes even cringy, but for me, its not a big deal. Gameplay: Ghost Warrior 3 has a major overhaul from the prequel, now it has an open world, which suits the game perfectly. You can go to the highest cliff and kill the enemies one by one, or stay covered in the woods and snipe the enemies, or go straight to enemies and kill the stealthily. Gun blazing is an option too, but you will die in 4-5 shots because you only has 3 health bars. Climbing is the new trend in this game. The gun play is rock solid this time, the weapons are nice, some has silencer, some dont. The silencer is one the consumables, each time you shoot, it will wear the silencer bit by bit, you can fix it by using silencer fixer. Stealth system is here, similar to Far Cry. For the weapons, beside sniper rifles, you also has secondary weapons and sidearms which variety of choices, from sawed off shotgun, automatic shotgun, magnum, ak47, machine guns etc. There are 2 bows for people who likes playing stealth, composite and curve bow, use the curve bow, its better for aiming. Consumables including frag, gas grenades, throwing knives, mines, c4. Colletibles are back, quite a lot, there are 191 POI, classic rifles (which you can see on your safehouse, but cant be used), weapons(sniper rifles, secondary rifles and sidearms) and jewelries. One of the new additions is the drone, a very neat addition. You have one drone you can use to tag enemies, spying alternate route, items, hacking cameras, hacking doors, and luring enemies. That's not all, you can customized your drones by adding gadgets, like Night vision, thermal vission, small/medium/big battery, camouflage, etc. Aside from collectibles, there are also wanted targets, killing all these wanted targets will reward with an achievement only. The world: The world of Ghost Warrior 3 is pretty, especially at dawn and dusk. Sadly, this beautiful world is empty, there are no civilians or enemies on street, this makes the game lack of immersion. If you are a person who likes going from place to place by vehicles or foot, you are going to have a boring time.In Far Cry I love using vehicles or running by foot to the objectives, but in this game, after playing it for the first 13 hours, I started using fast travel. Cause there is nothing to see on the road, sure the scenery are gorgeous, but lack of civilians, enemies or animals, it will grow old. There are several animals that I encountered, deer, cow, dogs, cats and wolf. Wolves and deers are abundance, they stretch out thin, but they never cross the road, they only stay in the wood. Optimization: Got stutters and crashes, 5 crashes and some stutters, I play in 1080p, very high setting (i5-6600K, 16GB & GTX1070). Playing in borderless window and enable vsync help a bit with the stutter. One thing that I dont understand is why there is no option to turn off the HUD, why do you tied the option to turn off HUD with difficulty. Conclusion: I bought this on sale, happy with my purchase. You have 3 options, get it now, wait for sale, or stay away. I say, Wait For Sale. The content is not enough, I dont think collectibles can be justified as content, there are only 16 side missions spread across the 3 maps, 26 main mission which can be completed under 15 hours, stutters and crashes.   I'm not going to talk about the story, but the most important element in the game: distance. I assume everyone play this game wants to experiance sinping a target over 1000 meters. However, this game failed to deliver this experiance because of one problem: draw distance. I want to make a 400m shot some place, not possible because the engine can't draw that far, even I marked the enemy with the drone. I would like to ask the dev team, what the perpose of the scope equiped with 32x magnification and 1000m distance adjusment when you can't see the target? With this single problem: I'm not really recommend this game because the title is a bit misleading. I would like to go back to SGW2 where I can made 1200m+ kills with a linear game play.
