Yeah, it's pricey, but it's supporting the wonderful devs over at Future Club, so I don't mind in the slightest. As of writing this, Annie and Umbrella are out, while Black Dahlia is in Alpha. So far, the characters are incredibly different than any other characters in the cast, and they all have something unique and incredibly fun to bring to the table. I just love this game. I give the Skullgirls season pass a Rolling/10

A good product for returning players but a little too late and a little bit overpriced.

If the last DLC character is not Marie, I will eat my own pants, and provide photographic evidence. Edit: Marie has been confirmed, my trousers are safe. ...for now.

The current devs of this game just censored a bunch of stuff in game, including fan art, character designs, and any possible references to fascism, racism, or police brutality (which are important themes to multiple characters stories). Do not give them any money until they reverse these changes.

Do you like paying super expensively for something and having that taken away from the same people that sold you that thing? Well, look no further than this. What I mean is, don't buy, don't support devs like this, rhey don't care about the fans, they only care about doing "moral" pandering to twitter crybabies, besides, they removed all achievements from DLC characters too because of those people, see review on main game to understand the rest of the story.

Note: Skullgirls 2nd Encore has been * for suspected review tampering, both review bombing and developer/influencer manipulation (Nice one Evan Hashimoto, what a wonderful chef you are, stick to MK). So if you need to, scroll down to the * on the steam page and disable the review filters to see the "true" game score. I will as always remain as on-topic and honest as possible in this review. Okay, the good Black Dahlia is hands down one of the most interesting characters added to any fighting game. A handful of new stage backgrounds with some new music. Thank you. The 'Not so Good' Game balance and system jank - without getting too technical here, while there have been some helpful balance changes to spice up older characters like Robo-Fortune and Eliza, there have also been some mechanical changes to the way things like double snap and otg work, along with some hitbox/hurtbox adjustments and the addition of more small characters like Annie and Umbrella with weird sizes and bounce timings, the overall feel of the game is a lot less solid then the what the last 2nd Encore build was before the new DLC started rolling out. While it would be very easy for me to say just "skill issue, get good", you absolutely will drop practised combos you've never dropped before or have weird things happen when you double snap etc, especially when engaging with the new smaller characters Annie and Umbrella. Annie ruins the game balance - She is the UMVC3 XFactor Vergil with another XFactor on top of that. By this point in the new DLC lifespan it's already a long running joke that "Annieone can cook". If you like Annie, then enjoy while you can, but if you don't then be ready for pain online. Also remember the content in this Season Pass has effects in the base game so whether you buy this or not you'll still have to put up with these issues, especially if you're playing online. To touch on the future of this DLC pass and briefly on some of the current drama, if you're the kind of person to buy a game today and expect to enjoy it in the future ~ hhmmmm, sitting on the fence might be a good idea. External drama should never have an impact on the quality of any game, but unfortunately it does here, as new developers' personal vendettas seep into the way that this game is updated, with the player community taking the brunt of the collateral damage. While there is some excitement in the air regarding the coming of the final character Marie, there is also a growing community distrust towards the new developers and maybe even a feeling that this game would have been better today if it had died with the final 2nd Encore update (LabZero) and just not received any new developer support since then. GGPO Rollback competition 5 years ago I would have been one of the first people to say something like "#playskullgirls it has rollback netcode" but in today's' online FGC landscape with every other fighting game either coming out new with rollback or getting updates for rollback netcode, there is now strong competition for better online experiences out there, especially if you want to distance yourself from the current new developer drama. I myself have ended up playing more Guilty Gear Xrd, and there's a long list of other fighting games out there with rollback, see the Steam curator "Rollback Police". If you're not a FGC fanatic who buys every fighting game under the sun good or bad, and you only have a limited capacity for a decent online fighting game, I would strongly recommend looking around, regardless of how I feel over Skullgirls. To end... I still truly love this game and its player community. I am concerned for the future of this game as a material product, as well as the actual community of players who to this day continue to host and run tournament brackets on their own dime, or even those who just play to enjoy the game and can't be bothered with any extended FGC stuff. I don't want to support shady developers mooching off the good will of the community. If you already own the base game and DLC pass like me.. lol enjoy what you can while you can. If you want to buy this for your friends and family to genuinely enjoy as a material product, sure, that's ok. Otherwise I'd recommend holding off until further developments. Squiggly headstones in the comments.

Yeah, I get you looking at that price and thinking that's a lot of money. Hand-drawn art takes a LOT of time, and these characters have over a thousand frames of animation each. For them to opt to deliver brand-new content this far out from the last major content addition as DLC, when nobody would have blamed them for doing a new game release and splinter the community, is something that should be commended and encouraged. Annie also fits in seamlessly into the roster and I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest in this character set.
