  Rise of the Tome Raider was an incredible game that perfectly followed the previous game "Tomb Raider" it had the mechanics and fighting style of the previous game but expanded on those mechanics and made them even better while also expanding on the parkour mechanics of the game. The story always had me intrigued and the game was one of a kind. Definitely does not let down the Tomb Raider series down and I highly recommend the game with or without the sale.

  Do NOT buy this for VR, it only has one dlc "blood ties" that lets you explore the manor in vr but no puzzles, fighting, campaign at all. This game is NOT a vr game as advertised.

  Did you like the first Tomb Raider reboot? You'll like this. Debating which one to get? Get the first reboot first, then get this. This Tomb Raider game is great - it is gorgeous, it does everything the first game did, and more. To compare the two: Rise of has way fewer (almost no) quicktime events. Rise of is easier. You have all the weapons and abilities of the earlier games, but now you can "craft" grenades and powerful hollow point or explosive ammo on the fly. Armored enemies don't matter. Rise of doesn't have the same character development. Lara is pretty much a badass at the beginning, and a badass at the end. (Vs the original reboot, where she starts as a whimp and learns to be tough). If you are debating a cheap version vs a digital deluxe or something... Baba Yaga: The best type of DLC - adds an additional level to explore, gives you a comical outfit, and unique weapon. The weapon is not overly super powered (but Rise of is a pretty easy game), but it is fun. Blood Ties: It's pretty much "Gone Home," with Lara Croft. You explore her mansion, looking for a information to keep her evil uncle from evicting her. There's a lot of exploring, and reading, and audio logs, but no combat. I guess its ok if you are into lore. Endurance Mode: I didn't try, because I hate that stuff. I gather it is some sort of Minecraft where you gather resources and see how long you can live. Extra outfits/weapons: I found "Rise of..." to be a pretty easy game, so using pay-to-win weapons and outfits felt extra cheaty to me, and I didn't use them. Remanant Resistance: Adds some fetch quests that you can do midway through the game. They're not bad, but again, since the game is pretty easy, getting more powerful rewards felt cheaty to me. Cards nonsense: The game lets your replay levels for points. You can use "cards" to give yourself buffs, debuffs, or cosmetics that change your points for the level. I guess its ok, if you are looking to play this games for hundreds of hours, but otherwise they are skippable.

  This is one of those games that make you want to cry when the credits role. Not because the ending was sad. Not because you blew your hard earned cash on it. But because you realise you now have to wait another 4 years for the sequel. I tried writing out a large review so I'll just list the pros and cons because I ramble on too much when talking about why I recommend this game. Pros <*>Improvement to the 2013 Tomb Raider. <*>Beautiful visuals <*>Incredibly immersive story <*>As the franchise get's hotter so does Lara <*>Perfectly timed quick time events <*>Mechanics are still as great as the last game <*>Jonah is still a lad <*>Intense battles between the locals and Trinity <*>Big headed zombies are a thing (in the DLC). <*>Cool DLC mission where you get higher than a kite and accidentally slaughter some dogs (kinda) <*>Lots of cool new weapons, outfits and other goodies. <*>Story of Lara's past (we get to learn more about her parents and the Croft Mansion) <*>Can kill deer in one hit this time Cons <*>Hard to see which way Lara is facing when standing on Broadhead Arrows <*>Enemies are as dumb as they are in Far Cry 3 when attempting Stealth <*>Have to wait years for the sequel <*>Spend the same amount of time picking an outfit for Lara as most girls do in our current world Hope that helps you decide. I struggled to pick out cons for this. Pros I sorta gave up listing. Too many pros. Imagine if I wrote this all out in proper senteces and analysed it? No need to read on. Just buy the game, you wont regret it.

  Rise of the Tomb Raider V Tomb Raider

  Crystal Dynamics are the kind of developers to look up too. I absolutely loved the first Tomb Raider. The mechanics were great from the start. The visuals are just incredible. They nailed the sound effects and the story keeps you on edge throughout. The only thing was the multiplayer was pretty boring and there wasn't much to do besides side-quests and getting 100% completion on singleplayer once the story was completed. Rise of the Tomb Raider is doing what all the successful sequels in the naughties did: Kept the mechanics very familiar if not the same to the last game, but added a few new mechanics on (such as the grappling hook). This is great as you don't have to get used to new controls and too many new items and you get the same nice feeling as the last game. What I am saying is when CD were developing ROTTR they took into account both the pros AND cons of the game. So in Rise of the Tomb Raider, you have yet another fantastic, immersive story and beautiful visuals. But they have also added lots of new content to play afterwards. They have a small DLC story where you get to look into Lara's past (and her parent's past) if that's what you're interested in. Some fun game modes to try along with the ability to add cards to change the flow of that mode (like the big-head enemies). 10/10 - Unbelievable sequel, took me by shock.
