A game that sadly could've been a masterpiece. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying this game is bad. No, definitely it's not. Actually, the game by itself is perfectly fine. It has a good story and solid gameplay with stunning graphics and i have no problem with it. The problem comes when you compare it to the original game. As a remake, this game isn't that good. It has missed out a lot of locations and puzzles. There is no clock tower, dead factory, park and cemetery. I don't get why Capcom rushed this one so hard. They really could've made this game a masterpiece... Overall, the game is good and worth a try. I would NOT recommend buying at full price though.

If it isn't broken. Don't fix it. Cons: The devs were so faithful to the source material for RE 2 Remake. What happened? No clock tower. No park. No graveyard boss fight. No cinematic last minute 'choice system'. The once iconic-looking Nemesis now an eye-sore and looks like a Blue Meanie with lasagna on his face. No more strategic dismemberment (kinda douche-y because now you can't make sure enemies stay dead or crippled) - also, there are corpses lying around that you KNOW are gonna get you later that you can't do anything about. No ink ribbons. No blue herbs. No giant spiders. No more using to the knife to save your *** before getting chomped on. Countering with the knife does literally nothing and the dodge system feels awkward and ill-fitting. Very few puzzles (I think there are like two). The game is very linear and lost the charm and sense of dread of the original. They giveth and then they taketh away. Pros: The graphics are mind-blowing and some of the boss fights are amazing. Overall, this game feels like a tech demo in the form of an extended DLC.

As a gamer I recommend it, as a resident evil fan I only feel disappointment :/

This game objectively is good/ ok-ish, but as a remake is really barebones and it lacks in so many ways in comparison with the original and with the remake of resident evil 2. I recommend people to buy it at a heavy discount but this is in no way a complete game, they decided to cut half of the game just to put a multiplayer mode call "RESISTANCE" that was already dead a month after release, Capcom keeps trying to make RE multiplayer games with no idea of what people want, we want coop game, no call of duty or Dying light clones. Please stop, they ended up hurting the campaign just for the sake of it... The good stuff This game has good qualities to it, this is by no means a bad game (although it was a rip off at 60 dollars at launch so I didn't buy it at that price) so let's start. The voice acting is superb, specially Jill, I love seeing a "new game" with her as a protagonist again, I like her new design but I still like her old one a bit more but it's still great, although is sad to see is such a short game :/. Nemesis design is great too, and how racoon city looks is just breathtaking, gameplay is very similar to RE2 but is a bit faster thanks to Jill's new dodge technique. The game is overall fun and I liked it, there are certain story moments that are great but the more I look at it the cons start to pop up more than the pros sadly. The bad stuff: The game that it will never be The remake of this game cuts so many stuff from the original, no clocktower, no park, no exploration, no anticipation, almost no puzzles, no dismemberment system as RE2, and the list can go all day. RE3 remake is extremely linear, the game is filled with scripted moments that makes nemesis to not be a menace at all, in RE2 remake MR.X was a chasing menace made to kill every witness of the racoon city incident, chasing you across the RPD in such unexpected ways and it was terrifying. But in RE3 Nemesis only has 1 real persecutor segment and is stunned with a battery in the most lame way possible, the beast that is meant to kill all the STARS members to avoid spreading the information of the mansion incident, is now just a predictable enemy that doesn't chase you after the first 20 min of the game.... this is not how is supposed to work and now makes sense why Nemesis is no longer on the title of the game. The overall map of raccoon city is now limited to just 2 streets and like 3 hallways, this is supposed to be the Racoon city game, but the city segment is so short that is really sad, all the locations are there but they are just cameos and references, so they are closed in one way or another as if it was a fan game instead of a AAA remake like RE2 was, and after this section nemesis won't chase you anymore because they rushed their "animal" form so quickly for the sake of action set pieces that is no longer menacing, he just becomes a boss everytime you see him :/. So the rocket launcher nemesis is basically limited to a 2 minute sequence... like why??? that is his signature weapon and is now just a cameo for 5 seconds because is just a run segment so you don't even see him using it. So, going back to the map, now is just City => Sewers => Hospital => Lab and yeah RE2 only had 3.5 locations but all of them were connected via puzzles but in this one they are shorter, they are not connected, you just see them once. They also completely eliminated the decision making of the original, making this 100% linear in level design and 100% linear in story too. Now you can't choose if you want to explore the city but you can't choose story elements either, so the replayability of this game is non existent. And it sucks because they touched the PTSD of Jill on the beginning of this game but just a little bit, and is such a miss opportunity because if they had included more nightmares and more story choices they could've made a really good exploration of her character, but after the intro she just becomes a bad ass character with no build up :(. Conclusion I am negative overall but I actually enjoyed the game, but this game could've been such a masterpiece just as RE2 was, imagining a complete racoon city with interconnected puzzles with nemesis chasing you across all the city as MR.X did , making decisions in the game with multiple endings, giving STARS members more screen time and exploring how umbrella is chasing Jill and how she deals with it thanks to her PTSD and her lack of trust in others. that is a game I imagined after finishing RE2 remake, and is obvious this game was not made by the same team. This was made by a different team at capcom and it really shows. The RE2 team is working on the RE4 remake so I am excited for that one. That's why I can't recommend it as an RE fan, Capcom gave this game, THE NEMESIS GAME, to a secondary group and took half of their resources to make a trash multiplayer game that was dead a week after release, the lack of time and love put in this proyect is shown if you compare it with RE2 or the original RE3. As a separate thing , yeah is good, is decent. But capcom just chased the easiest and laziest way to make money, and it sucks this game will always be remembered as the game it will never be :'(. Buy it at a heavy discount, I give it a thumbs down because the average steam score is now at 79% which is undeserved, for me is around the 70s, so I do it to compensate.

Edit: So recently Capcom decided to update RE2 and RE3. Which removed more shit. Literally fucking nobody asked for more stuff to get removed, Capcom. My two biggest gripes are how they made Nemesis into a total chump and how they removed exploration. Multiple times, Nemesis will have Jill dead to rights and will proceed to channel his inner Uvalde Police Officer and will refuse to kill Jill. You can also down him with a single grenade For exploration, here are the locations you CANNOT explore in RE3R that you could in the original. The Warehouse The Business Street The Wooden Walkway The Residential Street The Private Backyard The Back Alleys Jack's Bar The Barricaded Alley The Book Shop Street A good portion of the RPD The Zig-Zag Alley Raccoon Park The Dead Factory The Crashed Bus The Car Shop The Construction Street The Maintenance Area The Restaurant with the flooded basement The Shopping District Main Street The Water Feature area The Newspaper Office City Hall The Gas Station and its shop Lonsdale Yard The Cable Car and its surrounding area The Substation with the street that leads to it The Sales Office and its storeroom Most infamous removal of all....The Clock Tower What the fuck, Capcom? lmao
