  What does one say about a game they've invested 5.8k hours into? It's good? It's fun? It's replayable? Hopefully that much is obvious. This is the game diablo 2 fanboys think diablo 2 is. This is the game diablo 3 was supposed to be. This is the game that will command my attention over diablo 4. This studio has a totally different approach to itemization, resistances, difficulty spikes. They aren't here to hold your hand, and if you venture into hardcore you will ultimately die. Crate, this is a master piece.

  I am an old man playing this game on easy. I am enjoying the heck out of it. I recommend it if you don't have fast hand / eye coordination. I love the multiclass options and the fact that I don't die very much. Win win.

  This was the first game that made me want to play games by myself instead of just with my husband. It's what made my husband's hobby my hobby too. The combat is satisfying, you have so many ways to customize your play style, and the story is decent in parts and great in others. I do recommend for new players to look up builds if they get overly overwhelmed like me because there is SO MUCH you can choose from. Thankfully, it's really easy to entirely respec your character. I usually just choose my dual classes and do whatever seems fun until I start dying, then I look stuff up.

  This game has been a curse. I have started dozens of characters and some hardcore characters and got rid of all of them amd I am now currently on a new batch of new characters. As you can see from my hours (which will only continue to go up in the hundreds and thousands from here) I have lived another life in the wasted world of Cairn. This game allows for extreme and exact character customizations. I have had nuclear charwcters who wasted everything in their path easily and I have also recently made an unkillable character. His passive regeneration was so high he was unkillable literally (until a recent major patch toned down his regenerative abilities). Even then he is still almost unkillable and now does significantly more damage through his minions thanks to the same patch. If you like character customization, a bit of exploration and a game where your characters can actually hit the enemies themselves, this is the game for you. I came for the necromancer class and stayed for all the others. This is a well made game with great mechanics where if you know what you are doing you can create some truly ascendant characters worthy of legends and myths. My favorite character is my almost unkillable character and I will be putting him to the test with his build in hardcore. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

  As an ARPG junkie, I tried a lot of them. Put so much time to D2, D3, PoE, had great fun with them all. But Grim Dawn stands above them all, let me tell you why: GD has RPG systems that are not over complicated, like in Path of Exile. But at the same they are a bit more complex than Diablo 3. Perfect balance in my opinion. Same goes for crafting. Two class combinations are great and really increase the variety of build. Devotion system complements everything nicely. Maps are not randomized, like in other ARPGs, but they are so vast and beautifully hand-crafted, it does not hurt much. There are still some random elements though. I had initially issue with finding stuff like devotion shrines, but there is really nice website called Grim Tools, that has all maps and their points of interest. Not a shame to use it, IMHO. But GD has one absolutely killer feature, that is becoming very rare in any game. It can be played completely offline, with LAN connectivity. Multiplayer games over internet works perfectly fine also, but they are completely optional. For me, this is really important, because you can play this masterpiece at any point in the future, without being dependent on some servers, which will sometimes shut down. Only flaw of GD is its engine, which is quite old and cannot utilize modern multi-core CPUs. Fortunately, there is an x64 build, that works much better. Just make sure, you are always launching the game by clicking Play in the library and then selecting x64 version. If you launch GD by right clicking on Steam tray icon, you will always get x32 binary, which is way worse performing.

  I've wanted to write about this game for a long time, but i didn't because i thought it would make me feel like that i have completed the game. I now see that i was so wrong. I always come back to the game with a new charachter, a new build idea, and every time i fell for it like i did the first time. EVERY time. That's when you understand that a game is on top and that it has really touched you 👍

  This was a great game before the steam deck, but now with the steam deck its even better. For years I've wished I could play these games on a handheld while out and about or just relaxing in the bed after a long days work, winding down and defeating monsters, its great
