  Just like the descriptions on the store page, FireAlpaca SE is ONLY FireAlpaca Freeware with built-in BRUSH EDITOR(using Lua) and without ADs. (And more stable?) Not much different, so you can save some money and just download freeware version. It's still much "weaker" than Easy paint tool SAI, but the price is lower too. Pros: [list] [*]Easy to use, with built-in brush editor which can make a brush complex and cool af. [*]Onion Skin mode for animations. [*]Snap tool and manga framework tool and just look at the video on store page. [*]Support devs for such a cool freeware? [*][Update]Default file format .mdp is safe from WanaCry ransomeware! [/list] Cons: [list] [*][strike]No layer masks, can be annoying sometimes. Clipping masks just don't cut it.[/strike]Now we have it! [*]Not supporting vector drawing for now I guess? [*]A little too expensive... [/list] 8.5/10, the one and only free SAI alternative for now, looking forward for improvements in the future. [strike]It's OK to have more SE version exclusive functions, I'm not here for a refund and I want to feel like a P2W master race[/strike]

  Being completely honest with my review, this is NOT worth as much as they've been selling it for. It's literally just a dark version with slightly more tools that for the most part you don't need. This is the third time FA:SE has crashed on me and corrupted my art files. The auto saves don't work half the time. You can't have two versions on two different devices because it resets everything and quits the other one you have on. So you can't have one open on your PC and the other open on a tablet. It will quit whichever was on first and half the time doesn't auto save whatever you were making. If steam needs to update (which is ALL the time), it resets everything you had set up (ex. turns correction back to 0, adds back all the unnecessary windows, changes color bar back to color wheel, turns expand for bucket/select back to 0, etc). And you can't avoid this because of the random crashes/random times steam decides to update. Trust me when I say it is NOT worth it to buy this version. You are NOT missing anything with the free version. As a matter of fact, I am considering going back to the free version myself as I can NOT take the risk of losing my work again for my commissioners sake (and my sanity). I'm sorry if this review seems harsh but I am so insanely frustrated with HOW expensive this version of FA is when the free version is almost exactly the same just in white mode (and you can't use liquify but just use the transform mesh, it does the exact same thing.) I really hope these get changed.

  The program is good for beginning/intermediate artists and animators! Though, whenever you might switch to a new and better art program, you're gonna wish you didn't spend money on the program when you could've gotten it free online. Fellow artists, just get the free version online instead.

  As someone who's used FireAlpaca for about 5-6 years (at the time of writing this), I can wholeheartedly say it is a versatile program that's worth your time; especially if you're a beginner to digital art like I was at the time of downloading it. But remember: FireAlpaca is a program you can download for free. Which is why I implore you to download the free version first to try it out and form your own opinion on it. If you like the program, and perhaps you'd like to show your appreciation for the developers keeping the program free (like the chads they are), I encourage you to support them by buying the SE version. The SE version is more-so a donation than an upgrade. After all, the only features exclusive to it are a darker UI and no advertisements upon startup; that's it.

  I've been using the free version for 6 years at this point, I've loved it. I seen this on Steam and I decided to by it since I've been using FireAlpaca for free for so long. I'm not going to lie, I don't believe it's really worth $40, the only features that they have implemented that makes it stand out from the free version is a few extra brushes and dark mode (which since I have astigmatism in my eyes it helps when I'm drawing at night), but maybe sometime in the future there will be more features? But at the same time, I'm giving a positive review since there's nothing wrong with the app and it runs fine, and they've been there through out the years, so I feel like spending that much money on the SE version was justified to support the creators.
