The Sisters of the Thorn are renowned as the handmaidens of Ariel, the life-giving Queen of Athel Loren, but there are those among them who court darker, malevolent powers. Reborn into their mystical ranks, Kerillian engages in battle with spell-craft and javelins, drawing upon nature’s splendour to invigorate and protect her allies.

  • Rejoice in Nature’s Glory with an exclusive character skin & new voice lines.

  • Wield the blessings of Cadai and Cytharai to empower and protect other heroes.

A Bargain with Goddesses

Kerillian never told anyone where she’d gone, or why, but the change was obvious for all to see. She’d never been exactly ‘normal’ – elves aren’t, as a rule – but the creature that walked in through the front gate wasn’t the one who’d left. No longer wholly an elf, but not quite a dryad. Wilder and sterner all at once, and haunted in a way even Saltzpyre knew better than to mention. It wasn’t until she was alone with Sienna that Kerillian offered a glimpse of the truth. Her prayers to Lileath had gone unheeded, and so she had turned to other goddesses for aid …

So the review bombing happening right now. Lets explain it. From both sides, because while I disagree and think its thumbs up worthy and very well balanced now, I get why people are mad. Here we go: People are mad because they balanced a severely overpowered class that was sold and described as a support class. Here the issue, the class did: more damage than the damage classes tanked better than the tank classes actually did do very solid support So now that they have balanced the class to be, shocker, AN ACTUAL SUPPORT, people are mad because they dont get an overpowered class and weapon anymore. Im not surprised because people got used to it being that way. You cannot simply leave something in its unintended state for this long and expect that people are going to understand why it has changed after such a long time. This is the issue I run into. I dont want to reward Fatsharks bad behavior. They left this class completely broken for a about 10 months. This led people to believe that this class was just supposed to be like this, that its OP nature was intended, when it never was. It was meant to be a support, Fatshark screwed it up royally, then let it fester for far too long. Now they fixed it, but its 10 months too late. People are going to be mad. If they balanced it in a timely manner, then people would have likely said "ah it wasnt meant to be like this? Fine, have a great day." And could have moved on from it. But no, the snail speed development and patching struck and caused this. Im rating it UP because I think its great that they balanced her. She is still very strong, has a nice variety of builds, and is VERY good at support and damage still. But again, its Fatsharks own fault its getting review bombed for taking ENTIRELY too long to balance it. Their snail pace development and patching with almost no transparency whatsoever is completely unacceptable and is what caused this whole debacle. Please Fatshark, learn something from this. This game has so much potential.

Sister of The Thorn Kerillian is great, but some design decisions feel pretty off. I tried her in a couple solo screaming bell legend runs and she's fun, that's for sure. I'll list off some pros and cons I felt in the short time I tried her. Please note this is all my opinion and I'm eager to hear if other people are having different experiences. TLDR at bottom. Pros: - Incredibly fun using her staff. The right click means elites and specials are much less lethal and can basically be cc'd or sniped from super far away and her left click is satisfying to use. - Blocking hordes for 10 seconds can be clutch in overwhelming situations. The wall can also provide a wall to put your back to when stuck in an open area. - The increased healing she provides to herself and her team is pretty great. 25% is actually somewhat significant and allows her to receive more overflow thp. She's basically a tank during hordes. - Great dps when using the talent that buffs her for 15 seconds after using up Radiance. She can basically clear a mixed horde of elites on her own if she procs this buff, kind of reminds me of WHC, but more on demand. - 100% stagger range and strength is a wonderful talent that should not be overlooked. You can stunlock elites and patrols with a stamina recovery trinket. I'm excited to try it in chaos wastes. - Crit bleed is great, and can be better than flense. Heres why - When paired with radiant inheritance it doubles the bleed damage and boosts her crit chance. Take crit chance on the hagbane bow/staff, and charm and you will be dealing incredible boss dps. Paired with a huntsman kruber and a whc you can basically annihilate bosses solo. Cons: - Javelin is a ranged weapon, and is outclassed in my opinion. There is very little reason to use it over the staff, Moonfire bow, longbow, or Hagbane. Honestly, if I can armchair develop a bit, I would say the Javelin should have been a full fledged melee weapon which functions like Saltz pistol. Press special attack button to throw it. - Can't use Spear and Shield. This only really bothers me because it would make the Javelin viable, since pairing a shield weapon with an elite killer has always been good in dual melee classes. - Talent tree is not very diverse. - Elite enemies slain give 1 second to her Radiance. This is unbelievably bad. If you take the second charge of Radiance you get more "regen" through having two separate cooldowns happening at the same time. The other talent basically doubles your damage when you proc radiance. So, so bad. - Every 8 seconds get a free ranged shot and 3 perm health on shot. Pretty bad considering 3 of her weapons don't use any ammo and the ones that do really don't care about one extra arrow besides longbow. 3 Perm hp isn't really helpful. 3 Guaranteed crit strikes on career skill use is okay, only because you can pair it with careers that like to spam their skill. It would be harder to put it into use practically though, and three crits isn't that helpful IMO. Repel is the best in this tree. - Bloodrazor basically lets you kill elites, except it's hard to use, the bleed barely does anything, the initial damage is alright but not enough to be good against bosses, and you can basically just use your ranged weapon to do the same thing. Blackvenom is okay, and makes her ult a bit more of a panic ult to use vs mixed hordes. In my opinion, it's a bit of a crutch and pales compared to Ironbark, which makes the duration of the wall 10 seconds. It can buy you more breathing room than Blackvenom and can be used to give yourself and your team a wall to put your backs to even in an open area. - The best build is basically 2,1,1,3,3,1 with variation in the first, fourth and sixth row. TLDR: SotT Kerillian is good. She can do high dps vs bosses, shut down elites, control hordes, stunlock patrols, and boost team hp regen. She is very fun and super cool-feeling to play. Unfortunately, her talent tree is not diverse with many of the rows having very obvious best talents. Her Javelin is a ranged weapon with melee potential which is not a good choice. It should have been a melee weapon with ranged potential to allow for some of Kerillians other really fun ranged options like hagbane, staff, or moonfire. No spear and shield makes this even worse. 7/10 Career in terms of build-making and fun. In terms of efficacy for Legend difficulty, this class is a 10/10. It can pretty much do everything under the right conditions.

FINALLY. A control class. They've added RPG elements. They have builds that excel at single target burst, or aoe, or are sturdier and can tank a bit. They have buffing classes that can fill a support role. Tanks with shield bash can help fill the control role, even. But now we have it as a caster. Its a very fun and very niche RPG class that is difficult to balance, but so unique and satisfying to play. The ult is perfect. It drops a vine wall that can do things like block projectiles, cut off a horde, split patrols, stop a minotaur charge - and you have a mechanic on cooldown that lets you have more than one up in tough situations. The skillcap on it is high, and its very fun to control the flow of combat with. There's also a talent that changes it to a targeted ground damage aoe, which balances the lack of aoe damage on her new staff. The staff itself is fun. Works a bit like the volley bow shooting thorns, talent for bleed that I'm enjoying to make it stack dots with the ult. RMB is an ability that effectively disables a target for a short time. You can't just disable everything as it uses a relatively high amount of overcharge for something that deals no damage, but you can absolutely pluck an assassin out of the air mid leap with it. If a disabler is targeting your teammates, you disable the disabler. Very fun. The javelin is a big step up from throwing axes in that it works like them, but also has a full melee combo set for regular and charged attacks. What it doesn't have is blocking (it is also a ranged weapon, so you equip the javelin or the staff) Relying on dodge / crowd funneling with ult and using that as a melee weapon somehow does fit the feeling of the class though. So you've effectively got two unique playstyles out of this. One very unique melee hybrid, and a spellcaster with relatively low damage output, but relatively high battlefield control. I'd say they're balanced pretty well, but are going to get some getting used to by people who are unfamiliar with the RPG concept of a control based support class. One minor complaint: This might just be me, but none of kerillian's existing weapons feel quite right to fill her melee slot as sister of the thorn. I'd love to see a skin for maybe dual daggers, or sword/dagger, to look more like thorns or made out of wood/vines. All in all, I'd say that this is arguably the DLC character most worth buying because it offers the most unique play experience.

Ignore the people complaining: this carreer was ridiculously OP at launch and is now ballanced and fun. This is a SUPPORT class that is meant to help the team and provide utility, not single handedly down chaos patrols and grudge-marked monsters.Of course, if you lack skill, complaining is easier.

Let's ignore the salty Elf main tears flooding this review section for a sec and talk real here: SoTT was ridiculously broken at the beginning, she got reworked and nerfed to be a decent class on a strong character as it is. I'd say SoTT is still quite fun to play, the Staff is a neat weapon, the Javelin is still the most broken ranged weapon in the game in my opinion and her abilities make her a unique and fun character to play. Tho I think some of her talents could use tweaking I'd say she's in a fine spot as it is. It's a shame people rarely seem to know how to use walls properly but I think that once you do get used to them and learn to use them they can help a lot in all sorts of different situations. Anyways all in all I'd say she's still good, just not broken and that's why this DLC is mixed: it got review bombed from people who are upset their broken Career is gone.

First 3 classes is to bully your team. This one's for the enemies.

Was the class originally too strong when compared to some other classes in the game? Yes. Where changes needed? Absolutely. Are the changes that have been made good? Fuck no! The career skill of "building a wall" that blocks your own teams attacks is still as stupid as it was before. The "support" aspect doesnt reflect much in the actual skills and is mainly to be found on the staff weapon (and arguably in the "increased damage taken" debuff she can now apply). The biggest issue now is that the class is simply not fun to play! Nobody asked for a mage option for Kerillian. Nobody wanted a "support focused" class in a game where everyone is DPS. It could have been a Wardancer, maybe melee only since Fatshark seems to love those, and could have gotten a unique set of weapons like Warrior Priest. But I guess releasing a broken class for the character that the community already hates for no proper reason, then leaving it in this state for way too long and changing it to simply be unfun... Yeah that works too. I am not mad that SoT is no longer dominating everything by simply existing, that wasnt healthy for the game at all. I am just disappointed that what we ended up with is bad and unfun... And you have to pay for it.
