  TLDR: The game is too expensive for what it is, the game's current performance needs work and some content is Patreon only. I decided to try another new game play through to see if I would have a better experience, but I didn't. When you charge $30 for a game the expectations of it will be higher than a game that cost half that. I played the first SOTD and enjoyed it, so I thought I would enjoy this one too. I did enjoy some of it, but it's poor performance gets in the way. That's really a shame, because I like the girls, their personalities (mostly) and the game world. Not so much the MC's personality. The AI for the girls is not very good. They often get separated and jumped by a mutant. You have to keep an eye on them constantly. I'm guessing that is intentional. They often get in your line of fire and ruin shots. Luckily, you can't harm them with your weapons. The character models look better this go around, but there's a lot of clipping. Dialogue isn't that great, but that's sort of expected. There are some typos and text run over outside of the speech box. Text is even cut off the ending of some dialogue, so you don't know what was said. Optimization needs some work. There are glitches, npcs skating around instead of walking at base and sometimes the girls just disappear during a mission and then turn up later. One of the girls disappears when you try to change her outfit and only starting a mission, finishing and returning to base or quitting and starting again fixes it. As for content, I have two major issues and one minor one. The minor one is just a hassle. The R18 patch has to be downloaded from the publisher's website instead of directly through Steam. First issue is some content is Patreon only. That seems really #@$%! to me. Subscribers getting content first or input on what content goes in the game is fine, but locking off content is a lousy business practice. I've seen other games handle this much better. I prefer not to support devs who do this because all it does it reinforce this behavior and you'll get more of it. It's hard to do that after you buy a game and sink lots of hours into it before you find out. It would be nice if Steam would require developers to disclose this. People could make more informed decisions when making purchases. To the best of my knowledge, both the Halloween and Christmas events has some content only available to their Patreon subs. Second issue is the NTR quests. They are optional in the game (with R18 patch installed) and you don't have to engage with them at all (unless you want all the available body modifications for the girls without spending A LOT of time grinding points). There is a disclaimer on the publisher website to get the R18 patch regarding all the "stuff" the patch adds. The death scenes, whether you think they're gross or not, makes sense in the game, but the NTR seems kind of tacked on and out of place. I honestly don't know why they added NTR to a dating sim, but it is what it is. You can turn the death scenes and the NTR off in the settings if you want, but I kinda used the death scenes turned on as an incentive to keep the girls safe because I didn't want to see them get mangled. If you do purchase SOTD: SH, I don't recommend engaging in the NTR quest lines even though there are four body modifications you can get from them (each completed quest unlocks an item for all four girls). You have to spend 1,000,000 points for each item for each girl if you want them otherwise. They show up in the item store randomly, so it can take awhile for all to show. One million points x 4 items x 4 girls = 16 million points to get them all. The next most expensive item in the game is 200,000 points, so these are very expensive. You are heavily penalized for skipping those quests. I was of the mind I could save some money and a lot of time grinding points by just doing those quests. I was thinking how bad could they really be. I only made it part way through 3 girls quest lines and finished Aya's. I really wish I hadn't. Some things really can't be unseen. I can't even go back to a save before those quests were started because the autosave function and I didn't export my save beforehand.

  edited: ver. 1.41R adult patch , played 30 hrs (or more, re-run sometimes) , collected everything (thanks guide), played with lower down some graphic performance to squeeze out some extra FPS...using 3070 RTX PRO: 1- for the price i paid, the content + level consider is rich. 2- H scene is okay-ish good, varied scene like bathroom, toilet and other places 2a- Inner Voice mechanic is GOOD voice acting!! too bad got some little bug need to iron out or else it will freeze the looping animation sometimes. 3- okay-ish shooting experience for a indie team, this improved quite a bit compare to 1st one 4- ability to turn off NTR mission 5- torn shirt model when your AI character get damaged. 6- varied weapons to play in the game 7- each stage actually have different scenario for battle, nice (for indie game) 8- Good voice acting 9- the girls character setting + reaction to each other is actually good 10- the extra costume looking quite okay and i can see the effort for a same suit type but got 4 variant appearance on 4 different heroine. 11- shower scene mini game fixed the patch, the ending of the minigame actually caught me off guard lmao CON: 1- anime model the eyes is a little looks too big in 3D model and faces look almost same, can be improve. 1a- mouth part the chin all looks same shape... facial animation looks quite stiff, head looks a little too big compare to shoulder width. 2- NPC and anime style is 2 different thing 3- the "healing scene" I would like to use torn shirt model instead transform the AI straight birthday suit, and then the shirt re-appear again... super weird. (same goes to special mutated grapple / cripple the girls) 3a- healing sequence the QTE sequence is kinda distracting lol. suggest improve that too, especially the 3rd person camera can be messed up inside tight place like tunnel. also resurrect teammate under water camera need rework too? 3b- QTE bar hard to see when on bright place, if get a black bar underlay to see the blue thing that would be perfect 4- need enhance more on game optimization, my frame rate still drop to 30-40 with RTX 3070 5- main character head and body obviously stitched together... 6- game over scene i'd like to see the character with torn shirt (more logical) 7- game stage/scenery can be improve more, eg: stairs, some stairs pathway too narrow, etc. 8- Item direction UI is okay but can be improve a bit more 9- edgy / cringe pose during dialogs scene from Aya. (Ichika is fine because he is otaku) 10- gun sound and bullet effect can be improve. 11- there is a minor bug the character will stick on my aiming when i cancel "healing" half way. NIP PICK STUFF, and BUGS: 1- Kirara's lingerie breast size a little not align properly when i enlarge her breast with body modifier 2- Inability to squad in FPS game feels weird, although it do nothing anyways lol 3- after reload gun, it should reset to hip fire mode instead of go back to ADS mode. 4- skipped dialogs with 1 click on ACT 8 boss dialog, the control is not same with normal conversation which is require 2 clicks ... i just want to load all text first then skip once i finish read it, 5- Cross section can be improve a lot better. 6- MC room TV recollection mode have menu UI bug 7- nipple colour is not same in game healing sequence with other costume 8- side arm (the pistol) actually blocking view when sprinting in mission when you change to revolver / cyber gun from skill shop. 9- missing bullet trail from Kirara. i am not exactly she does kill zombie or not in whole mission 10- STAIRS can be improve a lot better if the stage designer use slope plane in the game file.... 11- I actually have minor dizzy / nausea when i focus on dark area with torch light too long. hope dev can improve that in SotD 3. 12- hope in mission healing scene can use WSAD to move around camera because right hand already busy with mouse left click. 13- some iron sight weapon need to be improve like the battle hawk , default 3 sidearm pistols 14- grenade launcher projectiles arc is way way too short. 15- throwing grenades should have projectiles arc to see 16- Inner voice should have stop looping once it finish playing whole voice clip on the scene, another one is animation will STOP there half way when the inner voice is ON. 17- definitely need more improvement for 1 sided texture view when i move around camera during H scene, sometime it got blocked by toilet wall POSTER or some random cloth inside messy room and so on 18- Extra costume: should have 4 different damage level like default costume as well. (judging from the HP bar there, assuming they have 4 stages of damaged look) 18a - Ichika's baby doll lingerie cloth physics always penetrate her body, as might as well just remove it 19- should have ask 3D modeller work closely with 2D artist to nail the 3D model close to their promo art. the eyes 80% of the time feels lifeless. 19a - oh god i hope can have inverted nipple on 1 of the character. 20- Ability to turn on + off for adult content after adult patch, instead of move the PAK file manually. easy for streamer too. (just like Alien Quest Eve) 21- It could be even more fun if buff up melee skill tree because i think it is worthless for now, i tried on Very Hard mode, not doable. ** don't want to mention about liquid physics because i think it is hardest thing to do, even they can make it looks nice but make the FPS drop to 10 is still not worth it. ** pretty sure the extra "locked door" are the removed content from the early beta patch and developer remove it for good. oh well. hope to see this in Seed of dead 3 with even more polished stuff

  Hold your horse before ranting about this is a oVeRPrICed GaRBaGe anime shooter. You didn't even see the other half of the game. We need to realize this is created by a really small team and this game is actually an Eroge. Unfortunately they could not release the uncut version on family friendly steam, but you can patch it yourself. https://erogejapan.com/r18patch/SoD_SH/ Judge this game only after you patched it. Yes, the shooter animations need to be improved, It has it's flaw and glitches. But the game also has professional voice over for the whole game(which is very rare for indie games, every scene and lines are voiced) and fun to play already. Not to mention the NSFW scenes while fighting zombies or back to the home town. A mediocre zombie shooter...but with a ton of 3d anime girl hentai? That's a BIG YES.
