  [h1] Review of Nelo at Day 1 of release. [/h1] From my initial impressions, the game is like a love child between Vanquish and Nier Automata. It comprises of swift paced, bullet hell, hack'n'slash gameplay mechanics. For me personally, this is one of those scenarios where Steam should introduce a 'Neutral' review option rather than having to choose between 'Yes' or 'No'. That said, I find myself more leaning towards recommending the title because I am hopeful of the potential it carries if worked upon, perfecting it through an 'open ear' to all constructive criticism made by users. Some of the issues from my intial playthrough were, clunky controls, lack of a 'lock on' system, no tutorials, deficient instructions, lackluster story ( just about enough to float the boat ), bugs here and there that happen to not be too attrotious and neither achievements nor trading cards included. Nonetheless the game is extremely fruity, with a variety of different offense stances ( can voluntarily switch from standard 3rd person to a top down designed bullet hell mode to deal with enemies ), flashy graphics, pleasing soundtracks, defining atmosphere, lightning fast movement and 4k compatibility. Nelo so to speak, is yes indeed half baked, but that doesn't mean its unplayable. The price is justifiable and is at early access ( means it will get updates from time to time and would be improved upon). Coming from a dev team of merely two individuals is indeed an impressive feat. Supporting them for the game would help them improve upon the quality of it. Indicated by their site, they too happen to be a couple who are extremely passionate about their game and you know what? This yet still [spoiler] is a better love story than Twlight. [/spoiler]

  This game is both very good and also incredibly shitty. Ill list the pro's and con's and you can choose whether they warrent a purchase. Pros -Its like several genres mixed in 1 -Each plays very well (hold the platforming) -Soundtrack is incredible -Gameplay is super tight and can be challenging but becomes so worth it once you get the hang of it -Certain enviroments are stunning for the fact like 2 people made this Cons -The platforming is some of the most infuriating shit I have ever had to deal with -Some of the controls seem to lag or simply not respond. (this is one of the reasons platforming makes me want to kill myself -Enemies can sometimes spawn in the sky and instantly do their charge attack on you or start firing and thus getting hit almost unavoidably -FOR SOME REASON IN THE 'FIRST' AREA YOU CAN GO BACK INTO ROOMS YOU ALREADY CLEARED, TO WHICH THEY LOCK ON YOU AND YOU NEED TO DO THE WHOLE SECTION AGAIN This game makes me want to keep playing but also refund it. I have hope that one of these will be removed by the time its fully released

  Great and amazing visual graphics, could use some more fine tuning in tutorial lessons since it seems to be stretched so far and some minor bug issures but it has great potential. Plus the soundtrack is Amazing! honestly fits in with the fast pace movement.

  I like the game, but it doesn't explain enough. Like, all the melee combos... If you jump, and attack you it almost teleports you to the enemy which is awesome.

  the police knocked at my door and i got a fine for breaking the speed limitation. was totaly worth it tho. i mean, it makes metal gear rising look slow in comparison....

  This game is absolutely brilliant! A lot of love from two very devoted people. The speed of the game is astonishing allowing for amazing combat systems that can only get better (especially when you figure out all of the different things you do during melee combat). This game is something I hope gets more popular and can definitely say that it is one of my favourite games ever made! Edit: So its been a couple years now and I still stand that this is really good and still has the amazing potential sadly updates have indeed stopped, however I have heard the devs are working on the game part time because they ran out of kick starter funds and now have to work part time jobs, so they are not working on it as much but the next update will be the full game apparently.

  The core mechanics are rich and overall look promising, but the fact that the ennemies don't actually move is quite unsettling. Because of this, and the fact that everything is more or less the same dark greyish color while the effects are super bright, it's hard to tell what's going on during combat. Cannot recommend it at the moment, although I'll keep an eye on it.

  Feels and looks like Nier Automata had a reptilian love child with Vanquish. I look forward to seeing where this one goes. It definitely has potential.
