  *Fair Warning: this game is not for people wanting a casual experience.* Overhead tactical RTS/Rougelike strategy game developed by the man, the myth, the legend, URB - this is a game that'll push you to your limits and give you exactly no sympathy when doing so. Hell - sometimes even your absolute best won't be enough - but that's what the next match is for! Tell you guys where to go and try to keep your cool as the odds are stacked overwhelmingly against you against an enemy that has absolutely no qualms with putting all six of your dudes six feet under as fast and as dirtily as they possibly can! Good game to play if you like getting your ass blasted... off! It's a work of love by the developer and community alike - good game, would recommend! (Don't mind the playtime, been playing the demo too, also been following the game's development for a while now haha) [spoiler]But it definitely needs more McDonald's apple pies and sarge[/spoiler]

  This game is hard and straight unfair. SS Troops with Sniper G43s on day one? likely at least one. PAK guns sniping and gibbing my medic halfway across the field? Happened a couple of times. Rolling a minefield event and your engineer dies to *something* that tears him in half from full health instantly? Yep. *Getting to finally have a good squad and getting several days ahead about 1/3 into the campaign only to get instantly wiped by airburst artillery without any flare or warning or callout? You better fucking believe I reset my campaign out of rage* But it's only a game, you can try again and again and again as many times as you want. And with experience you'll learn that it's far better to be safe than sorry. Embrace the paranoia, PTSD-esque horror of hearing whistles, the tears of rage at how unfair it is how you had time now how it was all going so well. The harder a task is the more seratonin and joy you feel at accomplishing it. But this just leaves you feeling exhausted and dreading the next field, the next push, the next man who will die. And as a war game, I think that speaks to the incredible capacity for realism in the mood it puts you in. I think this is one of the most authentic and realistic WWII games ever made. Because while other games try to make you feel like a hero or have fun, Mud And Blood embraces and shows you the Truth. In War there are no heroes, and war is not fun.

  I'll be honest, I only bought this game for the classic mode. I played the OG MNB2, so this was a real treat.

  brutal and unforgiving. Needs a system to save soldiers for later missions like X-com in order for this to become really good.

  Been playing this since I was kid so I'm biased. It would be great if the classic mode still works like the old version where you can have a ton of men and watch them get vaporized randomly. I'm pretty sure everyone else who played the older version knows Sarge... you can only have one at a time and the fact that he's smoking during battle is just perfect. Bring him back and a piece of my childhood will be completed. Either way, thank you for the masterpiece you have provided us with.

  Is it a good game.. Yes, Is the gameplay at a point where it's fun and both unfair + fair within reason? No. You can get fucked over in 50 different variants as you struggle through a clusterfuck, all the while you must go through poorly explained mechanics and pray to a deity of your choice just so that you don't loose a guy. Now, losing a guy isn't the end of the world. Except it blocks you from 1, earning ribbons (In the campaign) 2, Slows you down to a crawl (In the campaign) 3, makes you have to put in some FNG's which, is hell. Imagine a guy who hits only 1 shot out of a 1000 shots being put up against stugs, panthers, tigers, MG42's, Elite Snipers and more.. To counter what the enemy throws at you, you'll require decently trained specialist's.. Which FNG's have 0 Experience and must survive to rank up and become a specialist.. If you loose your whole squad and a enemy tank is 50-150 px away from the start zone? Too bad, the FNG's will go in with 0 Support, 0 AT Weaponry, 0 Backup, Not even a Radio. Oh and did I mention the Ribbons? They are limited, can't be unlocked if you miss them the first time, and give huge benefits, Like On D-Day alone there are 3 ribbons. DDay, DDay with Merit, DDay with Honor. And they stack. Honor gives 5XP when you get FNG's. Merit gives 3xp to the FNG's, And the DDay ribbon itself gives 1xp, That's 9XP for all replacement FNG's. But the catch is you have to beat D-DAY under 20 minutes, with 0 Casualties, to earn all the ribbons. Note that if you fail to meet the requirements for a ribbon and fail to earn it when you are supposed to in the campaign. You can NEVER get another chance to earn it again if it's a area ribbon. The only way to get the Ribbon? Reset your WHOLE profile, INCLUDING the SEPARATE GAMEMODE of Classic. Which wipes your Classic Ribbons as well (Did we mention the fact that Classic has it's own unique ribbions?) There are 86 ribbons in the game.. Good luck earning them all in a single profile (Oh and you can't have more then 1 Profile which would save some of the hassle atleast..) Promises of stuff such as Steam Workshop Support and a Sandbox mode have yet been non-delivered on. But I can understand as it's a Single Dev and it's EA. (But please like, Workshop Support? Yes PLEASE) All in all, it's a wonderful game (Remaster of a game I guess?) Which is worth the price.. But it needs a fair bit of polish and all that.

  OK first let me preface this with the fact that I have played absurd amounts and mastered Mud And Blood 2, Mud And Blood 3. and Mud And Blood Recon. So I'm well versed in the game series. I love the Mud And Blood franchise and constantly play it to this day. The reason I cannot recommend this game in its current state is because of 3 main issues. 1.) The fact that even "classic" mode of this game can no longer be considered a strategy "sandbox" in past versions of the game you have a damn near infinite variety of play styles that could lead to victory so it encouraged goofing around and trying unorthodox builds and tactics this game is not like that in this game there are only a handful of viable tactics and if you try anything different then you are not going to last very long. Its very strict and feels like URB is trying to lean away from the kinda cartoony feel that was mixed in with all the past entries of the franchise and become a more realistic simulator. 2.) Micromanagement. In previous entries you gave the units basic orders but then leaved them to do their thing in this game it feels like you have to constantly babysit your units and you can not make use of the vast map you are given because the moment you look away they end up dead. You have to keep them constantly moving and even abandoning well fortified positions every few seconds because even early in the wave count you are constantly getting shelled by artillery, airstrikes, or getting overrun by infantry. 3.) Balance. For some reason the enemies in this game feel much stronger than your forces even when they get experience and are fully kitted out. On top of that any upgrade available to you is prohibitively expensive and so weak it cannot be considered worth it take the concrete bunker for example. in order to build it one must spend 12 TP or the equivalent cost of 12 waves of resources to buy an engineer and then build the structure. Yes it gives a good boost to protection from small arms but it does not protect your forces from getting concussed by explosions leading them to run outside of it and die anyways and its super fragile being destroyed by a single artillery shell of which dozens of them could fall on your position. Lastly the infamous 6 man rule. Basically the 6 man rule is the rule that if you squad has more than 6 men then "unfair events" will happen to you at a much greater rate this can be countered by using prohibitively expensive and fragile cam nets but honestly due to map size the rule should have been changed to a 8 or 10 man rule.
