Lucifer Within Us Funciones

Everyone is a suspect. Unmask their lies. Choose one to purge.

Lucifer Within Us asks you to solve player-directed, story rich mysteries with your wits, making observations and deductions in a world of daemonic possession and invasive soul-scanning technology.

From the creator of The Shrouded Isle.

Investigate timelines.

Question your suspects. Watch their movements and testimonies closely, as the reconstruction may be based on lies. Use contradictions and clues to form your own hypothesis. Who is lying and why? Who is possessed? You must decide what is the truth for yourself, based on the evidence presented.

Real mystery-solving.

No hidden plot twists, no QTEs, no random puzzles or mini-games, just you and the information. In all 3 cases, don’t just act like a detective -- BE a detective. Finding the murderer will require true understanding of the case, not just following the story.

Banish daemonic A.I.

Enter the minds of citizens to gain insight into what they don’t want you to know. Dig through their subconscious and accuse the guilty in order to cast out their daemons, for the good of the Inquisition. Any damage done to a citizen’s psyche as a result of quarantine, exorcism, or rehabilitation is a consequence of their own immorality.

Expose the False Utopia.

Through centuries of indoctrination, humanity is taught to think pure thoughts and speak true words, untainted by falsehoods and delusions. Yet beneath this facade of purity, you find dark desires stir deep within people’s hearts, yearning for release.

As a digital exorcist working for the Church of Ain Soph’s Inquisition, it is your duty to find sinners and ensure continued harmony. Digital daemons corrupt the network cause human hosts to act on secret desires and sins, even unto murder. Discover the One Truth to determine which citizens are infected and exorcise the possessed.

Built on the rubble of the Old World, the last human city has become a utopia of progress, digitization, and art. The Church guides citizens towards advancement and Truth with the aid of a digital consciousness network.

Use all of the tools at your disposal to find the truth, wherever it may hide… and beware the lies you tell yourself.

This is a demo for a game that was never made. It's unpolished and shallow, with typos, awkward wording, cardboard stuttering animations and dull tiny environments. There are 3 missions with 2-3 witness stories to cross-check and about 10 evidence items to discover each. All of them have an obvious culprit and you cannot fail, so a simple brute force approach gets you to the end almost as fast as a deduction. It is an interesting concept for a game, but the developers failed to create something engaging with it, be it for the lack of time or resources. You can watch the trailer and imagine what could've been, but playing this is a waste.

Even though this game is good, it feels like a prequel of a game rather than a full fledged 16 eu game. I wouldn't recommend it at full price. I wouldn't recommend it at 50%. Maybe at best on an 80% sale

The game is a genuinely great but I cannot recommend buying it at full price at all. Other reviewers are spot on that it feels like a proof of concept instead of a game. There are only three chapters and the ending is just an info dump of what happens next that should be a whole playable chapter. It feels like an incomplete game that ran out of money and then was rushed out with less than half of the planned content, but the publishers decided to slap the same price tag on it that was planned for the full game. It would have been a much better idea to have this as early access and release the chapters as they went. It's a pity because the mechanics, the world, the gameplay, the characters and the stories are all great and it's a game I would have liked to have spent more time with and see sequels from.

This game has some innovative mechanics, but I cannot recommend it at this price. Even if you are going slowly, this is less than 3 hours of playtime - and a decent part of that is narration. This feels like it should have been the free demo for a 15-20 hour game. This is confirmed by the ending narration as well, which does not resolve the story.

if you're coming here from that GMTK video that just dropped, and you're a mystery game fan like me that was excited to try out one of the few titles that you hadn't heard of before: dear god do not buy this unfinished demo. especially not at full price. they made a proof of concept, slapped a cutscene at the end, and called it a game. outrageously short -- i opened the game and then went to do chores. came back later and finished the whole thing in 30 minutes. not a single interesting idea or moment or mystery in this. the art's nice, i guess. nice enough to trick people into thinking it's a real game and dropping $20 on it, unfortunately. i don't even *mind* short games -- some of my favorites are quite short! A Short Hike is peak game design and it clocks in at under 2 hours! this barely counts as a game.

$20 wasted. A fun concept, a neat little story, four times the price it should be. A single tutorial and two short, easy missions is all you'll get for twenty bucks. I don't mind paying for expensive short games as long as I feel I got the bang for my buck, but this really isn't it. Save your money, and wait for a sale if you REALLY want to play, but it feels like I got robbed playing for full price.

This is rough, because I would really like to be able to recommend this game, but I can't. The most obvious issue, as you've no doubt seen in every other review, is how short it is. Granted, I already had a sense of the gameplay from playing the demo (which is essentially an entire third of the game, an issue on its own), but even with some stalling looking for extra clues after I'd already pieced things together the entire experience still clocked in under 2 hours, and there is little if any replay value to be found here. A game being that short doesn't automatically make it worse, but the quality of the time spent with it needs to be much higher, and that just wasn't the case here for me. As much potential as I see in the mechanics presented here, I don't think they reach their full potential, and they often get in their own way in terms of crafting a truly great detective experience. The cases following the first do ramp up in complexity, but never to the point that figuring out what happened feels like a huge accomplishment, and there's little agency to figure things out in the overarching story that spans the length of the game. When it comes to the accusation stage, the requirement to establish means, motive, and opportunity is compelling, but the fact that each of these is verified independently makes it feel as though you don't really need a full understanding of the case in order to solve it. Motive especially suffers, as each suspect will only have 2-3 possible pieces of evidence to present, based on an understanding of their psychology gained by looking into their minds, a process which feels like skips over an interesting part of the investigation, handing you possible motives on a silver platter. The final step of demon identification also feels lacking, with such a small catalog of options that it fails to suggest any sort of world outside of the game, as well as often simply being a restatement of the already established motive. I feel like there's a lot of promise here, but as presented it it lacking in content, never moves past fairly straightforward cases, and ends up being narratively unsatisfying.

I'm totally in love with setting, game mechanics and voices, especially daemons one. But bruh. 2 hours of gameplay. Are you serious? I want more, and there it is, the end with cliffhanger. Hope for more sometimes.

This is a tough one for me. I did really enjoy the game, but with me being particularly dumb in some areas, it only took 2.6 hours to complete. There is a little replay value to get some achievements, but those achievements were missed because I didn't feel like spending the extra time up front to get them. The demo is 1/3rd the entire game. That is nice in that people get to know what they are buying, but it demonstrates how short the game actually is. While I enjoyed it and I want the developers to make money, it is not a recommendation unless it is on sale or you really enjoyed the demo. If any more content gets released, I will update my review to reflect that.

I want to start off by saying that this game is really well made. The levels are interesting, the gameplay is fun, and there's a small amount of replayability if you're fishing for 100% achievements (though in all honesty some of them are slightly tedious). I also liked the aesthetics around the whole game, too. The issue I have with it, though, is that it's just too short. Only 3 missions (one of which is almost entirely a tutorial) which is about 2 and a half hours of gameplay, it's just really hard to justify the £15 price. What makes it feel worse is that the ending is VERY open ended, and KIND OF feels like the 3 missions were just the set up for the full game, which just sort of makes it sting more that there is no "full game" coming, and this is all the content there is. However, it also does mean there's plenty of room for DLC missions without it feeling forced. TL;DR: Absolutely fantastic game, but unfortunately can't justify the price for how little content there is.
