  If you liked the base game, you'll probably like this even though it feels entirely unnecessary. Not sure why this isn't included with the base game at this point.

  has the real ending to dead space packed in a 5 dollar 2-3 hour dlc. additionally f*ck EA for rushing visceral to make this game and demanding that they sell 5 million copies when you forced them to make a lesser game and stuff it with dlc F*ck you EA you killed my favorite fracnhise and an amazing game studio. but about the dlc its much more like the first 2 games rather than this one and has psychological horror but its so short lived and makes you wonder how much potential this game had (even though its some of the most fun ive had and i love this game) and rip to dead space 4 it sounded fucking amazing....only but this dlc if you really like the game

  Honestly you should only buy this DLC if you really liked the base game and were interested in seeing the extremely depressing and abysmal end of the franchise before the reboot was announced almost 10 years later. The DLC is about 2-3 hours of content depending on what difficulty you play on. Weirdly enough while Carver did have his own arc in the original game, he gets an even more sarcastic and humorous personality in "Awakening" and listening to his dialogue was the main positive for me just because of how goofy it was. For the most part the game is just a rehash of going around the Terra Nova in the original title but with some new background scenery to make it scarier. Overall it does inject a lot of the psychological horror back into Dead Space 3 that the original title lacked. The ending is sudden and extremely depressing and I was so baffled I laughed out loud after witnessing it. TLDR: Only buy if it is on sale and you really liked the original game enough to want some more content and missed the horror aspects of Dead Space 1. The Ending is hilariously awful and the banter between Isaac and Carver is the highlight.

  This DLC is totally unnecessary and should've been in the main game or at least as a free dlc, It is extremely short. if you still want to know what happens after the main ending just go and watch on youtube. its another clifhanger anyways.

  Darkest chapter? more like THAT WAS IT? chapter The addon is fun, and the environment looks orgasmic, but the ending The ENDING IT SUCKS HARD It's either all a hallucination or everything was for nothing. I legit headcannoned this addon out of my desired canon. Having Carver and Isaac fight on the planet till they drop doom style is probably better than this ending. It's a total downer, but at least I got some free MK-lls with it. Even if it makes sense that it may be impossible to stop the moons, I just don't like it. Get this for the achievements and never play it again. The concepts in the addon were kinda cool though, not gonna lie and at least carver gets some more lines to say like the amazing man that he is.

  Everyone always told me that Awakened was what they wanted Dead Space 3 to be, but I have a really hard time believing that. It's a bunch of linear levels, several you've been through before, with spammed enemies and an almost The Force Awakens level of nostalgic callbacks rather than fresh ideas. There's some interesting story ideas tossed around, and a new antagonist who's fascinating but too briefly present to matter in the long term. None of that warrants paying $10 for this. Rather than just letting Dead Space 3 have a definitive end, this DLC slaps on a cliffhanger that may or may not ever be addressed. Would've much preferred something to wrap up Lexine Murdoch's story from Dead Space Extraction/Severed. Instead, Awakened feels like the game drunkenly staggering upwards while shouting "AND ANOTHER THING!" long after it needed to stay down.

  If you haven't seen or heard about why there are a lot of people who dislike this dlc, then I would continue past this review and find one of those. If not, then I will write what I honestly think about this dlc. If I had to describe this dlc in one simple phrase, I would simply say that it is a waste of time. There is basically NO value to this dlc. Instead, this dlc should have been free and included as maybe some extra episode after the main game had completed, as opposed to costing $10 USD. Instead I could have used that money for something actually worthwhile that would have piqued my interest and put a smile on my face. What this dlc includes, or rather its lack there-of, is an epilogue of the events of the third game, as to which there is quite literally only ONE to maybe ONE HOUR and a HALF of gameplay. Normally, if someone is going to spend money on a dlc, they would expect it to be quite long or have a bit of new content. However, the events of the dlc are rather quick and end extremely quickly. In full honesty, I would recommend that you just look up a video of the dlc so you don't have to spend $10 USD on this game as there is nothing new added except some addition to the story. As I stated before, this is just a personal opinion and for a more in-depth explanation, I recommend just reading one of the reviews found below. Instead of getting this dlc, you might decide to get the "pay-to-win" skins and what not that are offered with the main game, but DO NOT, as there is no value to them in the entire game. Instead, the dlc should have been more akin to what hasd been done with other massively popular games like Dead Cells and even Hollow Knight. In Dead Cells, the dlc is HALF of the price of what this one is and can actually be more fun to play. You can keep going through it without getting more bored. OR, even looking at Hollow Knight and how all of the dlc for that game was free instead of costing an absurd amount of money. Even though the dlc for that game is worth it even if you had to pay, it is all free with the game. So, don't get this dlc, and just enjoy the main game.
