Arma 3 Contact Funciones

What if humanity suddenly encounters extraterrestrial intelligence on Earth? Bohemia Interactive presents: Arma 3 Contact – a spin-off expansion about the most important discovery in the history of mankind. As a soldier deployed to Livonia’s militarized Nadbór region, you will be among the first to study our alien visitors and determine their intentions. However, amid the tension and chaos, armed conflict inevitably unfolds. Arma 3 Contact’s military science fiction campaign arrives together with a massive new terrain, and introduces new factions, weapons, vehicles, outfits, equipment, and more to the wider Arma 3 sandbox.

Key Features

  • Singleplayer Campaign "First Contact"

Ever fantasize about what would happen if aliens arrive on Earth? The story-driven “First Contact” campaign places you right at the center of a mysterious event that will forever change the face of human history. As Specialist Aiden Rudwell, you are a NATO drone operator taking part in a military training exercise on Livonia. When a massive alien vessel enters the atmosphere, you are sent on a reconnaissance mission to investigate the extraterrestrial presence. The priority: to learn who or what they are, and find out why they are here. However, with our very existence in the balance, different interpretations fueled by a region-wide blackout quickly prove to be a surefire way to conflict. Over the course of this campaign, you will engage in field science, electronic warfare, and combat recon, in an experience delivered in authentic Arma 3 style.

  • Livonia Terrain

Dense forests, wide open fields, and plenty of interesting landmarks – get ready to explore a fresh temperate summer environment ideally suited for combined arms warfare. Arma 3 Contact’s 163 km2 Eastern European terrain covers the partly abandoned Nadbór region within the larger Polish-speaking country of Livonia. This landlocked NATO member state shares borders with four other nations, including the Russian exclave Kaliningrad and CSAT partner Belarus, which inherently makes it a place of great geo-strategic importance. Its woodland locale is composed of a big set of completely new structures, props, and natural objects, complemented by objects from other Bohemia terrains.

  • 2 Factions

With the new terrain come two relatively smaller but highly capable new military factions. Specifically, the Livonian Defense Force and Russian Spetsnaz. The LDF equips its soldiers with high-end protective gear in a distinctive woodland ‘geometric’ camouflage design. This includes new fatigues, plate carrier vests, and advanced modular combat helmets with optional ear protectors and so-called ‘Spartan chops’. Meanwhile, the Russian Spetsnaz operators wear a new lightweight two-tone suit, a durable helmet based on CSAT design, and a chest rig which sports a cross-drawn chest holder for sidearms. Each faction is further enhanced by reskinned variants of existing Arma 3 assets, and made complete with new character faces and Polish or Russian radio protocols.

  • 5 Weapons

The Contact expansion adds 5 weapons to your Arma 3 arsenal. The LDF makes use of the Promet Assault Rifle. This modular bullpup rifle is known for its unique detachable carry handle with integrated scope and can be fitted with an under-barrel grenade launcher or shotgun attachment. Then there are two additions to the AK family, which are primarily used by Russian Spetsnaz. The RPK-12 Light Machine Gun features a distinctive 75-round drum magazine, elongated barrel, a modified stock, and added foregrip. The AKU-12 Rifle is a lightweight carbine with a shorter barrel and a special muzzle brake. Lastly, Livonia’s civilian hunting enthusiasts bring in their own two weapons. The Mk14 Classic Hunting Rifle is a single fire walnut stock version of the military-issue Mk14, while the Kozlice Shotgun is a traditional break-barrel 12 gauge that can fire slug or buckshot shells, and comes in a regular and sawed-off variant.

  • 2 Vehicles

Say hello to an unlikely pair of new vehicles. First up is the ED-1 Mini UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle). This small tracked electric robot is built to traverse complex terrain, and can transmit a live camera feed so that its operator can remotely assess the situation. Wielding its multi-joint swivel arm, the UGV’s two primary uses are CBRN Defense and Explosive Ordnance Disposal. The Science variant, the ED-1E*, is essentially a driving laboratory with sensors, a sampling laser, and a biopsy probe. For military use, the ED-1D variant comes prepared with a mounted Disruptor shotgun; ideal for demining operations and close encounters. On the opposite side of the vehicle spectrum drives the Tractor. This reliable Diesel workhorse from Arma 2 returns with a major upgrade to its model and textures, and might prove unexpectedly useful in certain circumstances.

  • Gear*

In response to First Contact, this spin-off expansion also hands you a variety of new gear. Perhaps most striking is the equipment related to CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) defense. This involves an oversuit – available in multiple colors and camouflage designs – and includes Air Purifying Respirator face masks and breathing apparatus backpacks. Another notable addition is the Spectrum Device. This is a handheld transceiver that can act as an electromagnetic spectrum analyzer. It can send and receive a myriad of signals at various frequencies, while – depending on what antenna is fitted – it can also be used for jamming or deception. As such, it is essential when it comes to scientific study, communications, or engaging in electronic warfare. Additionally, there is a radio backpack, prisoner blindfold, and, of course, the most proven measure of defense against alien interference: the tin foil hat.

  • Classified Intel

Little is known about the extraterrestrial visitors, but their largest observed vessel is hard to miss. Presumably employing a form of gravity control, it appears to have little trouble maintaining levitation despite its massive size. It is unclear whether Livonia is the only arrival site on Earth, but the UFO is believed to purposely hover above an underground alien network that spans at least several kilometers. This network’s purpose and origin are entirely unknown, but it appears to be incredibly old since it has gone unnoticed for the longest time. Recent reports also mention sightings of highly advanced car-sized alien entities surveying the UFO’s nearby environment. However, much more information is needed before their true capabilities and purpose can be evaluated.

  • Additional Multiplayer Scenarios

Jump into Arma 3’s official Zeus Game Master, Combat Patrol, and Warlords multiplayer modes with additional scenarios for the new Livonia terrain.

Free Bonus Content

The Arma 3 Contact spin-off expansion is supported by free new content for all Arma 3 owners.

  • NATO Woodland Camouflage - NATO troops receive a modest range of gear in woodland camouflage, fitting for Livonia’s forest terrain.

  • Civilian Clothing - Additional character gear helps represent the various civilian groups in the Nadbór region, such as the international Astra scientists, local farmers, and looters.

  • 100+ Decorative & Terrain Objects* - Content creators can let their imagination run wild with dozens of new structures and props, many of which are available in multiple color variants. Besides the new assets for the Livonia terrain, this includes objects related to CBRN (sealed transport packaging, a weather station, and more), Decontamination (tents, showers, spill bunds, cleaning equipment, tarps, liquid hoses, and more) and Field Outposts (rugged equipment, terminals, furniture, lamps, solar panels, power cables, cargo platforms, and more).

  • Official Soundtrack - Listen to new music tracks composed specifically for the "First Contact" singleplayer campaign.

* Some of these marked items might have advanced scripted gameplay functionality within Arma 3 Contact’s singleplayer campaign. However, please be aware that they are purely cosmetic and/or decorative when used across the vanilla Arma 3 sandbox, such as in multiplayer or in the Scenario Editor.

To play the "First Contact" singleplayer campaign, you should open the Arma 3 Launcher and then hit the PLAY CONTACT button. It makes me really sad that this DLCs has such mixed reviews. I can see the reason for that - the Contact does not play like any other Arma mission/campaign I have ever played. It plays more like Stalker without RP elements, and I mean it in the best way possible. That being said, it would be useful to remember that Arma is first and foremost a sandbox game, which means that pretty much anything can be made into a mission here, even if it does not heavily rely on combat. Such is the case for this campaing - it's more about exploration, unraveling misteries and soaking in the amazing atmosphere of nighttime Livonia. Arma visuals really shine here, and sound design is amazing. This is also the most immersive singleplayer campaing from BIS that I've played in many years. Most SP campaings I can't even wrap my head around the story line, but here the story actually captivated me and it was hard to put the game down when the time came to go to sleep :D It has been noted in other reviews that it is strange how a DLC about aliens does not have any aliens to shoot. I was curious about how this would work, and let me assure you, this works great. The way the aliens are presented here makes me think that our petty human weapons would not be able to do much damange to them anyway, and this fact gives the aliens this Lovecraftian feel that I absolutely love. If you could just shoot them, they would not feel as imposing an powerfull and that would take away quite a lot from the great atmosphere of this campaign. And the humans that you do shoot don't feel out of place either, but I won't dive into details to avoid spoilers. As a side note, as a Space/Astronomy/Sci-Fi nerd I really liked some of the topics and dialogs present in the campaign. I can see that they were written by someone passionate about the topic. These were not some filler technobabble, they actually made sense if you're into that kind of thing. The only problem that I had with the campaing is that some middle missions were a bit too long, but that's ok for me. So, in conclusion, I would definitely recommend this DLC to those who like sci-fi, atmospheric games and games about exploration. However, if you only enjoy arma for MilSim experience, this DLC might not be for you.

Kinda unfortunate that there is almost nothing involving the aliens that is usable in Zeus. There are like 4 alien units and some props. And some of the alien units just self destruct right off the bat. Also no multiplayer compatibility is annoying.
Arma 3: Contact is not for everyone. It's much more akin to Arrival than Battle: Los Angeles. If you're looking for action-packed alien-on-human combat, look elsewhere.
Let me make this clear: if you are buying this because you want to shoot aliens in the face you will be EXTREMELY disappointed by Contact. Most of the campaign is spent staring at your Spectrum Device and making radio calls to push enemies around. It focuses heavily on Electronic Warfare and trickery rather than on direct combat. In most of the missions I never fired my rifle. There were also a couple of times I forgot I was playing Arma because of having not even pulled out my rifle in such a long time. So keep both of those in mind if you're looking for another action-packed Arma mission set. However, I'd suggest this to people who enjoyed the Laws of War missions (outside of the strictly combat-focused ones). If you enjoy atmospheric missions with non-standard gameplay like that, you'll probably like Contact's singleplayer portion. Anyway, onto the hopefully spoiler-free review (if mentioning how little I fired my gun isn't a spoiler itself). Contact puts you in the shoes of Specialist Rudwell, a translator-turned-drone-operator who, after some inciting incidents, gets thrust into the middle of an increasingly 'complex' first-contact scenario. That complexity is relative, however, as most of Contact's story can be summed up with
it's basically Arrival; BI clearly watched that movie and said "we can do that."
Regardless, it's still interesting enough to keep you mostly invested even without the usual combat-focused narrative. You'll also be doing a lot of not-shooty stuff, as mentioned. Early on, you're introduced to the Spectrum Device: a handheld multipurpose Electronic Warfare tool. It forms the core of Contact's gameplay and serves to push Arma's usual methodical, tactical gameplay well beyond its usual confines. You'll be staring at that tiny frequency readout, waiting for pulses, for most of the campaign's playtime--for better or worse.
Thankfully, the last mission does finally let you flex your trigger finger a bit, even if the dopey AI makes it almost a non-challenge.
For me, it clocked in a bit under six hours. I did get stuck in a particularly frustrating mission for almost an hour, however, so I'd say it's really closer to five hours long, maybe even four if you really get value out of the time dilation function in those ever-present multi-kilometer runs (+/- are your friend here, as in The East Wind). The visuals in the campaign are exceptional, even outside of Arma's standards. The foggy-night setting of one of the early missions really sells the atmosphere that the story is going for and shows off the strength of Arma's lighting and weather effects when used to their fullest. Whoever did environmental design on these missions should be congratulated, as it's exceptionally well done. The sound is also great. Maybe it's just me having not played with the vanilla Arma 3 arsenal much lately, but the MX seemed to pack a deeper punch and the footstep sounds seemed more varied. The sound design in the missions themselves is also great; as with the lighting and weather, the sound of distant wolves and closer birds make you feel as though you're actually creeping around a mostly deserted forest in the dead of night. Related to sound is the voice acting, normally one of the weakest elements of Arma campaigns--along with the writing. Both are somewhat improved from their earlier efforts; as in I didn't get sick of hearing the background chatter and didn't wonder when the poorly written conversation would end each time an in-game 'cutscene' started. There are definitely some characters that grate on the ears here, but as said it's mostly good. The smaller additions outside of the campaign are the usual sandbox and platform updates. It's the same fare as always: guns, gear, props, and a terrain. Starting from the back, Livonia is a beautiful terrain that reminds me of the Arma 2 Army of the Czech Republic DLC terrains Bystrica and Bukovina. While it definitely reuses buildings and assets from other terrains, that's nothing new for Arma, and doesn't detract from the many mission-making opportunities I can see people taking. The new props seem cool as well for those wanting to simulate CBRN-type scenarios (or perhaps a first-contact of their own), although there's plenty of techy stuff too to flesh out those more conventional operations centers. I'm no mission maker, however, so I won't get any value out of them. What I'm more likely to play with are the new gear and weapon additions. While much of it is reskins (again, as you see with every Arma DLC), there's enough new stuff to be interesting. The new Livonian Promet is a cool looking rifle that's a nice alternative to the MX series, the new AK-12 platforms fill out that rifle's roles well, and we've finally got a pellet-firing shotgun in vanilla (well, DLC) Arma. On the gear front, there's CBRN oversuits and respirators; new helmets, vests, and uniforms for the Spetsnaz and LDF; and some woodland camouflage equipment for NATO troops. All things considered, I'd say that Contact isn't quite worth the nearly $30 asking price. Unless you're a mega-fan of Arma and need to own every piece of content for all that sweet premium gear, I'd pass on this until it goes on sale. The campaign is worth a few hours of your time if you enjoy slower-paced and less shooty science fiction, or simply want a change from the usual Arma gameplay loop--because it is very different. Honestly, BI should be commended for trying something so different and out-of-the-ordinary for them. Don't shit on this because it didn't fulfill your murder-all-the-aliens fantasies or let you fly around in a spaceship, because games like that are a dime a dozen. And if you want that experience in Arma, there's plenty of those always-venerated--and free--mods for you to download that'll scratch that exact itch. Hell, I love that too (I grew up on Halo, as so many did)--but I did not expect nor want that experience out of Contact. In every mission I was hoping that an alien wasn't suddenly going to pop out from behind a tree and fire a laser at me, simply because that would've ruined the immersion and atmosphere that the campaign was clearly going for. At the end of the day, Arma is a realistic game, and Contact is a realistic depiction of a possible first-contact scenario. Take it or leave it; personally, I'd say take it, as long as you're willing to accept its slow, wholly different gameplay loop and more restrained take on first contact.

You play as the unluckiest man on earth. You speak 6 languages but your skills are wasted because of google translate so you become a drone flyer for NATO. Then aliens show up and you spend the rest of your life doing solo suicide missions for some corporal

In summery, this is just a campaign DLC. I was really hoping for more than a exclusive singleplayer campaign, 4 broken alien vehicle assets, and a reused arma 2 generated map for $30 with no multiplayer capabilities that has to be launched separately from the main game. You can find better content in the workshop that is free mind you. Hopefully someone is inspired by this and actually creates a great alien mod for arma 3. Not worth purchasing unless they fix somethings and adds actual units.

DLC marketed to be about aliens without any aliens. You spend your time fighting humans as per normal ARMA, just with some weird looking objects occasionally in the background. The new faction is basically the AAF with reskinned vehicles and a different assault rifle. The campaign is interesting at first, until it turns into a war against a reskinned AAF army. With no aliens because some weird looking object floating around doesn't count as aliens to me. The DLC's biggest strength is the new uniforms but no way is it worth the price. I wouldn't recommend even if on sale.

Welcome to my review of Arma III: Contact. Arma with aliens sounds to good to be true, that's because it is. In this DLC you pay 30 USD to run around in the forest with a glorified TV antenna and are asked to play classical music for the Alien UFO. Campaign is short with only 6 "chapters" which are about an hour a piece, but don't be fooled, its all the same stuff rinse and repeat. Your enemies are humans and your job is to carry a bootleg TV antenna and play some music to try and communicate with aliens... Would be better if there were actual aliens, not just the same 3 UFO models zooming around the map. This is a laughing stock of a dlc... Better off just buying XCOM.
