  This is a tough review. On one hand, this game really does /nail/ the rogue-like metroidvania style. Explore rooms until you can't, find an upgrade, proceed. Bash your head into walls looking for secrets. Fight lots of enemies. But it also just... kinda falls flat on the weapon variety. It feels like you're being encouraged to 'experiment' with your weapon, but all in all most parts are just direct upgrades to what a weapon already does without changing it functionally. This starts to make repeat runs feel very... samey. Get a damage boost, get a range boost, use whatever progression weapon/element you need to open doors. I feel this game needs more variety to it, or to have that variety better seeded into the run. I don't wanna spend another twenty minutes getting minor upgrades for the basic laser that just... make the laser shoot faster/further/harder. Split is a good start, bounce is useful in a lot of fringe cases, but overall I don't get excited about either of those. And that's before considering the boss variety, of which I've encountered none. Same three bosses every time. So my final decision comes down to value. Is it worth 10$? Well, I got 8 hours out of it before I started to feel worn out. At around a dollar an hour, I'd say it's worth considering. If the dev is still actively working on it, and it gets a few qol updates, an autosave feature, and some variety then it'd be very much worth it. But for me, and what I'm looking for in a game, I sadly have to give this a no for now. Which is a shame because it does get so many things right. Nothing personal, Luke. Side note- Do not bind the 'stand still' key to space, it will cause you to crash in the weapon modding screen.

  Controls feel off, no tutorial about what is going on and the mechanics of weapons, looks like it was made in a game maker.

  Very, very lovely game! I went in expecting almost nothing, and I have to admit - it is very fun! It sort of mixes Binding of Isaac with metroidvania lessons, and adds a healthy dose of shoot-em-up guns variety and all of that. There are secret rooms, suit upgrades (double jump, transform to creepy-crawly, etc), weapon types (plasma, fire, rockets), and plenty of weapon upgrades that you get to select yourself: range increase, spread projectiles, homing, etc. There are also items that can be used, but I haven't found any yet, in my 21 min test. These are all found in the world by shooting containers, which can either be accessed immediately, or you need to unlock them first by paying with credits or your health. Platforming is nice and fluid, albeit slightly too fast for my initial expectations - but this'll probably be different once I get adjusted to the game better. Default controls are just slightly awkward, but effective. Either way you can rebind them, or simply use controller. Graphics aren't anything to write home about - but neither are many other games like this, so who cares? Gameplay is on point, focused, strong, and very well worth your money!
