  This is exactly what the game needs, more stupid training levels. If they had focused on fixing the game.

  Super Lucky's Tale: Guardian Trials is an additional challenge series to wrap up the game. There are three types of challenges available: marble board, platforming, and combat. The marble board challenges are basically the same as those found in the main game. They, like everything in this DLC, have been spiced up compared to what you'd find in the main game, but it's basically the same idea just with situations and designs that pose more challenge. If you liked the marble challenges in the main game, you'll like these. I personally don't care for the controls or the board-tilting effect that the visuals have, so I wasn't wild about having 5-6 more of these to do. But the designs were at least more interesting than the braindead versions found in the main game. The platforming challenges are the real bright spots of this DLC. The challenges are fun, creative, and, well, challenging. Thankfully there were probably 6-7 of these, as they were definitely what I enjoyed most by far. I've said it before in other reviews about this game, but I think people buy this game because they want to run, jump, bounce, and collect stuff, and these challenges allow the player to do exactly those things. Thankfully, the stages are pretty cool and generally well-designed. There were a couple of moments that I didn't particularly care for, but they were rare. The "constantly burrow" challenge was definitely my least favorite. Burrow controls are kind of janky to start with, so building an obstacle course around mandatory burrowing was not the greatest idea. Burrowing aside, there is a lot to like in this section of the DLC. Lastly, there is a combat section, which is made up of two re-hashed boss fights from the main game that are more challenging versions and then a final all-new enemy horde rush. I can't say that the two re-hashed boss fights were revolutionary or overly inspired. They actually felt more like what the original fights should have been (the originals were a bit too easy for my taste, and these were more what I would expect/want). They still are pretty forgiving though, with healing provided between each phase of the fights. The new final fight is a boxing-style arena where you have to fight through congested waves of normal enemies in addition to fireballs and lasers. It was also very generous with healing, and overall ended up being easier than I would have liked for the final fight of the entire game plus DLC. Overall, this DLC is far more enjoyable than Gilly Island. It has its flaws, but it's worth completing and doesn't take a ton of time.

  It's pretty okay dlc. A bit anticlimactic, but it does provide a fair challenge (i game over'd a couple times on some levels). It adds a bit more replayability to the game and becomes a bit more fun after you've completed it.

  Thought the main game was too easy? Then be sure to check out this dlc which cranks the difficulty to 11, a challenge that's oh so rewarding when you overcome it

  This DLC has a handful of little challenge maps and puzzles accessible through a cute HUB world. These range from ez pz lemon squeezy to did they even playtest this? The difficulty is mainly because the challenges rely on tight controls and smooth platforming this game really doesn't have any. Regardless it's not terrible and it's a nice little extra distraction from your life. I'd recommend it but try to get it on sale

  My only real criticism of this DLC is that it doesn't really do much for the boss fights. You'd expect them to make you do every boss from the main game again, just harder... but it's just like two. So the combat challenges are very few compared to the other two kinds [puzzle and.. the other one]. I quite liked many of the challenge levels though. They were a bit more challenging than the main game was, and while not required there are some hidden hotdogs to find in each level and if you get them all you can get an extra costume which is neat. The puzzle side of things was a bit tedious though, I didn't like how many tilt puzzles there were. Particularly getting one of the hotdogs in one of them. But doing more challenging slide puzzles was fun. It's worth it if you enjoy the main game and want more. Especially on sale.
