A lot of people say that the content is repetitive and basic. That's true. I think people have forgotten what casual games are. They're games that don't have a lot of content, they're controls are simple, and the gameplay is dull to a lot of hardcore gamers. But that's the catch, it's a *Casual* game. My parents and their parents could understand how to play it, which is something you can almost never find nowadays. So while the content may be *easy* or *boring*, just know that anyone over the age of 6 can play and understand this game.
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.
Octogeddon has a lot of the DNA of the author’s previous game, Plants Vs Zombies. But whereas PvZ is finely tuned in balance towards casual and hardcore play, Octogeddon suffers from too much RNG and lack of complexity.
The Good

Colorful graphics very reminiscent of Plants Vs Zombies, light-hearted storyline and somewhat diverse enemy types will allow you to enjoy the main story as you progress through multiple cities that need to be crushed.
Music and game-sounds are top-notch and a lot more heavy-metal than Plants Vs Zombies.
Weapon Choices: There’s a ton of unique, different weapons, each with their own upgrades.

The Bad

Limited Replay value: there’s no real synergy between the different types of weapons you get.
Certain weapons are nearly useless: Angler-Light deals no damage and has shorter range than it’s upgraded form. The Snake-Cobra line of weapons is a newbie trap, they have extremely short range when compared to other, more useful weapons. The fully upgraded version costs way too much for the lack of range it has.
Gold Scarcity: Until you unlock all the permanent upgrades, you really feel the squeeze of not having enough gold to be able to function on the current level, this is made worse by not having the upgrades you need for said level (Not having light for cloaked enemies, not having the elephant for reflecting jellies etc.)

The Ugly

RNG is very unfriendly to casual play: if you progress through the storyline too fast, the next replay will throw advanced enemies at you that require expensive upgrades to combat.
Cloaked Enemies: I don’t know how this enemy ability made it past beta-testing. It’s not fun to be stuck with no light or the just the angler-light because you have to highlight the enemy; then rotate to hit them with another weapon. This would be better if players could at least do half-damage to cloaked enemies, or have an ability to put the light on their cursor.
Too Much Visual Noise: Once you get 5+ heads, it becomes hard to track the various bullets/enemies flying into you at close range.
Lack of Complexity: It’s a two-button game when it could have done more. You can get up to three ‘pets’ with unique abilities, but they all have to be cast at the same time instead of being bound to individual hotkeys or buttons.
Near-Zero Interaction: There’s nothing to click on once in a level. I feel there’s a lost chance to have some interesting mechanics where you need to ‘pull’ armor off a mob so your tentacles can do damage, or even make the mouse a ‘mobile light’ for those unfun stealth enemies.
In the end, this game has the potential to be fun, but even with 9-hours played, the repetition of shallow gameplay leaves much to be desired. My Suggestion: Get it on sale, or wait for it on phone.

Takeaways: fun for a few hours, but that's about all it can manage. Buy on sale. I had high hopes for Octogeddon because the game is made by such a fantastic group of designers. Unfortunately the game is very one note, and once you've heard that note about ten times, you never need to hear it again. Where PvZ had massive amoumts of variety, tons of minigames, new game plus, and awesome replayability, this has grinding, repetition, and chance. And bugs. New modes: I'd like to see a free mode similar to the Last Stand minigame in PvZ, where all arms are available and one must deal with a massive onslaught of random enemies. How about a mode where the player is defending the cities against an AI Octopus by choosing vehicles, waves and timing. A new game plus mode where you can start with a configured octopus, and face appropriately large waves of enemies and upgraded bosses? Gameplay issues: Once you die or finish a game, you automatically start a new game and are forced to go through the shop, the customization screen, and finally the first level before being allowed to quit to menu. Why isn't there a main menu button in these areas? Once I had purchased every available item from the shop, why did I keep accumulating more shells? Why do I have to see the shop screen every time I start a game? Why do I have to keep playing the (terrible) shell collection minigame? Playing on a 16x9 TV, the ocean levels suffer from the missing top and bottom portions of the screen -- enemies coming from the 12 and 6 o'clock positions appear when they are much closer to the player than from 9 and 3, this is especially frustrating with the super fast gold ships in hard mode. While the game does support a controller, it treats all input as digital, meaning that you are either rotating or not rotating. Controllers have analog sticks and triggers for percision, but no matter how hard or soft the action is, the game interprets it as full speed. No percision is possible, which is frustrating. Glitches: Not very common, but they happen. The most frequent I have encountered involves the kongaroo. If the player is at the extreme left side of the playable area, kongaroo can jump onto the player, and force the player offscreen, where they will remain stuck indefinitely (until dead). I'd like to see the game be made better, because there is a lot of potential here. As it is now, it's very forgettable.

This game is beautiful. It definitely fits the "George Fan" style of taking a concept so insane that it makes you think, "Who even comes up with this shit?" The controls are so simple that it only takes two buttons to play the whole game, but the gameplay still manages to be challenging and fun. It does feature some rogue-like elements where after you lose lives (you normally start with 2, but you can get more) you have to start all over (there are some exceptions to this though). Overall an insanely fun little game by one of my favorite devs of all time. Highly recommend.

The kind of game you expect from the developer of PVZ. A difficult, strategic, and addicting application with a cartoonish art style that is great for all ages.

The Game is challenging and fun to play, and Addicting somehow The gameplay its pretty easy to learn but hard to master, same like Plants Vs. Zombies My tips: You need to focus on all the tentacle, because if you just focus on one tentacle you will be ruined by that fast airplane That is truth XD Go grab it. its worth it to pay on full or discount price My personal score 8/10
