  An interesting and atmospheric game with a little odd controls. It's really thrilling to explore the world, fight with enemies/mutants. Hardcore mode is recommended.

  Feels like the original stalker game, Great immersion. beware that if you have played Anomaly or other such mods based on misery that this game will be ''easier'' the same way that vanilla stalker is easier.

  This game is a hidden gem. Put in around 25hrs exploring every corner of it. (Steam somehow only shows 5) Atmosphere and characters are great. Gameplay mechanics are intuitive and exploring the levels is great fun! The dev is putting alot of thought and heart into it and it shows. Already excited for new content/DLC. Thanks!

  Highly immersive atmosphere, offering a wide range of exciting and suspenseful moments, I personally never played much of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series although I really enjoy playing this game!

  Overall pretty cool game if you like stuff like Metro: 2033, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Basically one guy created this indie game on a Unity engine. The design of the settings bear a strong resemblance to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance from years ago. A little scuffed, and easy to break, but all in all a decent product. At the end of the day, this game is intended for those of us who crave more S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but don't want anything to do with Tarkov, and need something to fill the gap in our souls until S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 shows up. The isomeric 3rd player perspective doesn't lend itself super well to shooting, but does lend itself well to melee. You do a lot of melee in this game whacking on mutants for body parts to create serums for protection, healing, and most importantly - money. Shooting is fine if you get the drop on your enemies, but is absolutely terrible in an open fight. In big brawls you often get shot from off-camera and have to scramble for cover. Cover is pretty well done in this game, but you can count on shooting rounds into sandbags & concrete barriers as target tracking is a little weird. Luckily, you can equip a laser on all your ranged weapons & that helps a great deal. In true S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fashion, there are clunky Russian radio stations that play the same 3 tracks. Some are pretty obnoxiously loud, but the developer was nice enough to give you kill switches if it gets to be too much while you're sorting your inventory. There are factions, but not as diverse as in S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and not every faction is at war with the others. The game loses points because not once in 2 run-throughs did anyone say "Cheeky Breeky." Inventory management is a major game play element. You have to harvest critter parts & pick flowers to build up a collection of alchemical ingredients that would make any Witcher envious. You also have to squirrel away a ton of other random junk, and will frequently have to re-arm as weapons & armor deteriorate. In order to have enough "stuff" you have to repeated go to hot sectors & hunt down the critters. Their appearance and drops are random, so this can get a bit tedious. The idea is that you're supposed to sit around campfires, take naps, and generally waste alot of time waiting for that to happen. That artificially expands the length of game play. There is also a mechanical crafting mechanic that is complete garbage, as you're required to render down a metric ton of junk to get something usable. Repair kits are few & far between, and your weapons turn to garbage if their quality drops too low. Spoilers - almost everything you find has low quality, so plan on having quite a few gun jams at critical times, and shredded armor that offers no protection. Could things have been done differently / better? Sure. But the end product is pretty good considering it's made by one guy. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's more finished than some bigger releases I've seen. You don't need a battle pass to unlock core game play. You don't need 5 expansions to get the full story. And the support for the game has been excellent, as the developer continues to stomp out bugs & clean up awkward areas. I hope this game gets Rotorist Workshop some recognition & encourages them to come out with more content in the future. Final Thoughts: When the doctor asks you to dig through latrines to collect 15 poo samples....yes, it's worth it.

  Action RPG with a top-down/isometric view, set in a gritty, post-disaster zone in Siberia. If you like the STALKER series, ATOM RPG's camera view, along with grid-based inventory management and an element of sandbox gameplay, you may enjoy this. Game may be hard for beginners to survival/action rpgs, so I have some newbie tips here from personal experience. (I may write a guide once I have more time) - Money: For early game, dismantling weapons at the workbench (especially low durability ones) into scrap metal, sell for more profit in total. Batteries sell well too, for 100 to the right NPCs (although you should keep a few on you). Dismantle ammo, grenades and mines which you don't need for gunpowder- they sell for 50. When you get the strangling rope, sometimes enemies killed that way drop eyeballs (eww!) which can be sold as well. Money ceases to be a problem by early-mid game, in fact it isn't a problem as most things could be found, just maybe need to buy the occasional potato bread or bandage when you are starting out. - Don't worry about food being expensive at first, it's only used when you need to heal or skip time in the field. You do NOT need to eat food to rest, unless injured. Rest by a campfire with your sleeping bag (don't sell it), that way you won't consume energy. Food is for healing and recovering energy- eat, then sleep. - Hence, if you ever run out of stuff and need things to respawn or trader to refresh, you can rest by the campfire for 8 hours at a time, at no loss incurred. This is useful for planning night operations as well, as you can skip time till it gets dark (consider your travel time to the next destination). - Loot boxes (breakable crates) respawn. Sometimes they drop things which can be useful for selling/usage. - Hold "X" to see interactable objects, like lockers, switches, etc. - Grinding: Enemies respawn after a few days. You can farm the starting areas, practice combat, stealth killing, etc. You can farm potatoes, there are 10 planting spots near the starting area, you need a shovel (can be bought from Sidor, the first trader). Hold "X" to see the planting spots. - Saving: If you anticipate a harder fight after you got some nice loot (and don't want to risk losing it), either exit and re-enter the map if possible (it will save, but not if you enter/exit a basement I think), or sneak and find a safe corner away from the enemies, rest with your sleeping bag for an hour (eat something if you are injured/tired). Remember that you can always come back another time, when you are better equipped to try a new strategy. Overall: I really enjoyed the aesthetics and gameplay. Maybe it's just me, but I enjoyed the loop of collecting more items, farming enemy NPCs for drops and experience, and exploring the world. I liked it so much that I bought the 2 DLCs after a few hours of play, and they are well worth the cost. Both DLCs are not mandatory for a playthrough though, and if you do buy them, they work with your current save. "Way of the Hunter" adds a skillpoints system (don't need to restart your game), and "Ravenwood" adds a separate area with more lore, enemies, loot, and a bit more stuff for the sandbox type of player. This game definitely requires some patience, and is well worth the time to discover things about it- it is like a well-crafted artwork, with details and elements which one can appreciate more over time. There was a pretty difficult mission early on which involves a puzzle (there's a walkthrough for it), but also tough mutants, high radiation and an anomaly. I died many times, before I finally cleared it almost perfectly in one pass, taking a more stealthy approach. So sometimes strategy is very important- you could go in all guns blazing, but I guess that means you would have to stockpile some ammo and meds beforehand. On a last note: Btw, I don't usually write reviews (I think this is my first), but this game really deserves a good review (not just those few liners of complaints), because of the care and polish the game receives, and the work ethic of the developer himself. Developer is very responsive to bugs and gameplay issues, and continues to patch the game regularly. I joined the Discord recently, just to look up some information, but was surprised that he asked me about my experience as a new player. I mentioned the issues I had with melee combat as a newbie, and he immediately got around to adjusting it, and adding a few new features as well. Game is priced fairly, and the developer shows a lot of passion for his own project, which shows in the game, despite it being developed by one person.

I decided to start writing reviews for some games from smaller devs that i enjoy and this was the first one to come to mind.

  Bought this after Christmas..gotta say I love it. Top down movement and shooting is perfect love the attachments for guns. Love the story and making the serums. Love the combat tactical or all out shooting and slashing. Developer is active and constantly updating. A* it's a credit to the steam store!!

  A wonderful isometric action RPG and the Dev. is super-responsive and hard-working. A real tour-de-force for basically a one man team. If you like STALKER, Soviet esthetics, Wasteland or classic Fallout games, you will absolutely get your money's worth.

  I really enjoy playing this on the Steam Deck, you have to mess with the controls a bit, but once you find the layout that works for you, the game is so much fun. I have tried playing this on PC before but didn't really get into it until I played it on the Steam Deck. Thanks Dev
