  I don't understand why everyone is saying to stay out of the house? I went inside, they were super nice loving and caring people. The dude that owns the place is a butcher and has all kinds of quality meat. We had BBQ and showed me around the wheat farm. And his grandma, she can't see or hear very well, but she's incredibly sweet. They're both looking after a baby that's ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE! I don't get what all the fuss is about, I enjoyed my visit.

  A sneaky spooky game where you crouch around the house of a deranged serial killer. There’s a lot of these games out there. Stealth games set in confined spaces, where you need to avoid the gaze of a roaming monster as you look for keys and unlock doors. Stay Out of The House is a little more systemic in its approach. There are consequences as you play. Instead of immediately throwing you back to the main menu, the killer keeps tally as he locks you up again. As you break out, new security measures are in place. Surveillance cameras. Traps littering the floors and rooms. Even where you previously explored. Got caught hiding under a bed? That bed is flipped now -- permanently. Even the old reliable air ducts that snake around the house aren’t safe. So there’s a pretty cool economy going on here, punishing you for doing badly by making things even worse. It’s a very thematic detail that fits the rest of the aesthetics perfectly. Recommended if you enjoy spooky PS1 graphics and punishing, somewhat janky, gameplay.

  Sprained my wrist and elbow a week ago. Decided to play this last night. Flinched so bad it feels like I re-sprained my whole arm. Damn good atmosphere.

  If the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre were a video game, it literally could not be any closer than this. It's exploitation, it's grindhouse, it's b-movie in the best way possible. I have to say though, that it is quite buggy. I clipped through the vents at one point and ended up soft-locked near the bottom of the map, and had to go back to my last save. There were some frame-rate issues in the attic and in the food/water storage area, as well as a few other inconvenient bugs, particularly with the lighting and physics, but none of these really soured my opinion on this game, although it might for others. I really had a great time with it, and maybe I'm just bad, but I put in waaaaay more than the advertised 2-4 hours. Part of that was achievement hunting, but I really think a first playthrough will be closer to 4-6 hours for the average player, if not more. And an extra couple of hours for the other endings if you feel inclined. It also has great stealth mechanics, which I'm an absolute sucker for!
