Finally, we get to the second largest state in the US and the largest state in American Truck Simulator history ever. By the way, it used to be part of Mexico and then an independent country. Texas has different names: the Lone Star State, the independent state, the state within the state and so on. There are many interesting stereotypes and legends about this colourful state. The Lone Star State is known for its vast territory, diverse nature and high-tech industry. Numerous films have been made about it and many songs were sung. It's a state with a rich history and here now we will travel on our adventures as an American trucker. Mountains, sea, border with Mexico, deserts, fields, oil, cattle, agriculture, space - all this and much more has to offer us this amazing region of the USA. For me this is the most long awaited state, all the others are very good, but this one is special for some reason. I will definitely go and explore it and I advise everyone to do the same. The next state will be Oklahoma

Been a long time coming - I think this was on my wishlist for 19 months but it's finally here! Despite the 35% or so price increase when compared to other ATS expansions, this piece of content seems quite substantial in terms of scale and variety. Probably the largest DLC we've had overall so I can see why it costs more especially after 2+ years of challenging development. If you are dedicated to this game then there is no reason not to buy it!

Having driven through Texas many many times this DLC is pretty spot on especially with key landmark and street names . Phenomenal definitely worth it. To the people complaining about the price...this is the largest expansion of the map that they've released...pick up an extra shift or wait for a sale.

I drove into Austin for the first time and the I-35 on ramp was closed down due to a wreck. 10/10 realism.

A very strange map expansion. Most cities are nothing more than highways with a small number of businesses built right off them. Very few B-roads, almost no actual drivable city streets. Just look at the Fort Worth/Dallas area. A bunch of highways built around a very small number of companies and nothing else. Or Austin — that's just a single road with nothing on it. There isn't one city here that comes even close to, say, LA, SF, or LV in terms of making you feel like you're driving through an actual city — and those were part of the very first states released 5 years ago. The amount of repeated assets makes most highways feel the same. The skylines of the cities which you're supposed to photograph as part of the new "Photo Trophy" feature look like they were modeled 10 years ago, as they are as low-poly as it gets. I mean, if you couldn't be bothered to make proper drivable cities and instead just stuck a few cuboids on the horizon, why would you then go and focus the players' attention on the lack of effort by suggesting we photograph it? Feels unfinished, as though the work was supposed to be done, but wasn't. In conclusion: with this DLC, I feel like the standard has fallen somewhat. I'd rather the developers delayed it a couple months and built a few cities with drivable streets in them, and several more highway assets. I think that would've gone a long way towards immersing the player. And then there's the price, which is 1.5 times more than the previous expansions and is now just $2 less than the base game. For what, a middling-quality map expansion? And that's why it's a thumbs down. Would've been otherwise had the price not gone up. The quality certainly hasn't. Clarifying edit for a couple of people in the comment section: yes, I did focus on a few negatives. That's called "criticism." There was what I think to be a slight drop in quality, so I explained why I think that way. Most of the DLC is just "more of the same," but that's not really interesting to focus on. Also, if the DLC says in the very first line of the description "Discover explorable cities, like ... Austin ..." and then Austin is just a single highway with no exits off it, making it quite literally UNexplorable, that's gonna get called out.

This one feels rushed and unfinished, like SCS really wanted to get this out before the holiday season. What is here looks alright, but there is just too much that is missing to ignore - especially when compared with other releases. Perhaps the most egregious example is the fact that the Dallas side of the huge, sprawling D/FW metro area barely even exists in the game. Outside of a short stretch I35E and parts of I20 (most of which aren't even in Dallas proper) there is simply nothing there: US75, I635, and I30 east of downtown have been omitted completely! This makes for a very weird driving experience, and there are so many missed opportunities with regard to warehouses and the giant UP railyards in the East Dallas/Mesquite area and with businesses along the highways I've named, that I really don't even know where to begin. I get that you can't make a 1:1 representation of real life in the game, but man there is soooo much that was left out! Even the little details like highway signage, etc. seem sparse compared to previous releases. I gotta say I'm disappointed here. I really hope SCS comes back and gives this DLC an update and upgrade, because they could have done much better with this release.

I was so looking forward to this DLC, truly I was, but as soon as I drove through Fort Worth for the first time, I noticed something. Or, more accurately, a lack of something. The cities in this DLC are so sparse and empty. I'm not the first one to complain about this, but COME ON. DFW is so condensed it's almost baffling. Where's the Interstate loops? Where's the Fort Worth Stockyards? Where's AT&T Stadium? Where's Arlington? Where's US 287? You can't even see Six Flags over the walls on the sides of IH-30. When I drove through Sandpoint in Idaho, an area that my grandparents lived for over 20 years and an area I'm very familiar with, I was so impressed by SCS's ability to condense the city yet it still felt like Sandpoint . When I drive through DFW in this new DLC, I don't get that feeling. Fort Worth could be any generic city backdrop as far as I can tell in my game. It's just so disappointing to see. Much love to the SCS devs (seriously, y'all do amazing work), but this isn't your best work. PLEASE fix this.

amarillo runs pretty poorly but that's basically how it is in real life

Feels very rushed. Most cities only allow 3 streets max when so much more could be expanded on. It feels like they shrunk Texas down to the size of the other states, then grew it back to scale last second. I hope they update it with more details so that the magic of Texas is not lost.
