7 Days to End with You 機能

You don't know a single word in the language of this world.
Deduce the meanings of words the person before you uses to communicate with you.
Then try to understand them like a puzzle, one piece at a time.
You are free to perceive the meaning of the words you read.

The relationship between the two characters is built on the words you interpret.
And their story is also built on the words you interpret.

Their world changes according to your understanding.
Maybe their story is a short, ordinary story, or maybe it's a long, peculiar story.
Or both stories could exist at the same time. There's nothing wrong with that.

The story is only complete with your interpretation.
So certainly, every story your interpretation results in is correct.
Even if you don't understand the story at first, you have the opportunity to repeat it over and over again.

This is a short and long story, of only seven days.

A pretty cool concept, but it's let down by a lot of the implementation. The basic premise is to look at the letter layout of the words you see, combine them with the context of the situation and figure out the meaning. For example, "This word has 5 letters, the last two letters are identical, and it's located next to words that I already figured out mean 'one' and 'two' so this word must be 'three.'" As such, the player slowly increases their own vocabulary and is able to figure out more of what's going on around them. However, the farther you get, the more problems become apparent. Some very useful words like
understand (which is necessary to answer some questions)
are actually spelled wrong, so you will never be able to think of a word that actually matches their letter layout. Some words are used in ways that make it very clear that this is a translation that does not actually fit the situation
"research" is used for situations meaning actual research, investigations, and looking for objects (probably ported from Japanese's "shiraberu")
and
"means" is the word chosen for "method of how to do something" and for the longest time, I was convinced it was "basic" because I thought I was getting offers of being "taught the basics of cooking"
, and then there's incredibly basic words that the game never actually tells you, despite wanting you to know some of them
you are repeatedly asked yes or no questions, but the game literally never teaches you how to say yes until what I assume to be the final ending. Instead, you are asked if you understand and you have to reply with "understand" which is another distinctly-japanese way of speaking that didn't quite get localized to account for English habits. It does make sense to do that in English, but I doubt it's going to be our first reaction, especially if we only know like 20 words in a language
Actually, the more I write this review, the more I think of weird translation choices from Japanese that make this game more frustrating than anything.
usual (futsuu) where they want "medium," small (sukoshi) for "a bit" as in "you understand a bit of language," and disappear (inai) for "gone" (this one was also misspelled pretty badly as "disap" according to decoders)
. So while I could accept the fact that even a full dictionary was going to result in broken English due to no more than three words being said per line, some of the resulting phrases are still unnecessarily hard to decipher. If you want to play this game, it would be a major boon to be able to speak Japanese and go into this game thinking of their syntax, habits, and speech patterns...unfortunately, I didn't shift my thinking properly until very very late in the game and it really cost me.

The user interface could definitely use some work, as well as actually explaining how to interact with the game. But the concept and implementation are so genius that you can't really fault the developer, especially for this price point. You basically wake up in some house with a pretty stranger who doesn't speak your language. You talk to her, point at objects in the house and she says something about them in her foreign language. Word by word you label them to try and piece together what happened. The labeling process may seem a bit boring, but it's actually the best part of the game. Seeing words reappear in your conversations that you translated yourself is very satisfying. It's also a lot harder than just pointing at things, since she rarily says one word/phrase at a time. I didn't delve much deeper than that into it, but the game definitely grabbed my interest. Pick it up if language or puzzle games are your thing, it's only 4 euros.

How can cooking make you cry?

It's a thought I had while sitting in my chair making these recipes that the game handed over to me, reading the same dialogue with not even 10 different words again and again. Food, to me, has always been more like sustenance than something to enjoy. I think it started because my mom wasn't good at cooking and so it was just how I viewed food. She also does this thing that I really dislike: She always cooks too much. It's sometimes wasteful if we threw the left over away or we would eat the same thing for like 2-3 days. I refused to eat the old food often enough that it was her who ended up eating those most of the time. I thought that that was weird. "Really, wouldn't it be better if we just make less since you'll be cooking again tomorrow anyway?" In the last 2 years I was with my parents before moving out I just told my mom that it would be better to just buy pre-made meal from a store because it's cheaper (when factoring in the labor). Now. Now, I think I feel differently about it. I worked at a restaurant for 2 years during university. Sometimes, the customers would thank us for the food, I thought, well, we just have to do a good job or go out of business. Whenever I cook for myself it's always something wretched like just boiled vegetable with rice and salt. I guess what I want to say is why would you want to cook for anyone? The answer is almost too simple. You cook for people you care about. It's a way of expressing love even if taken for granted too often. My mom was just clumsy. Thinking about it now, it would be hurt me deeply if instead of hearing "Thanks, I love your food a lot. I'm really happy that you cook for me every day!" I would get myself. Maybe I have just grown overly attached to a fictional character, maybe you wouldn't get it at all after finishing the game but it was very touching for me. If you decide to play it, I hope that you will struggle and try your heart out to find the exact words to express your feelings. In the last 3 days I have been staying up late, until 6AM yesterday to decode what was going on in this game. It reeled me in because of the mysteries and a promised of a good, unique puzzle. I have always liked sitting silently for hours or days to solve problems. I think if you like that sort of thing, you would enjoy the game. I want to tell you how much I love this game but explaining too much would ruin the experience for you. It's a bitter feeling. I want to tell the world about it. I understand your position better now, both the reader looking to get in and the people writing their thoughts after finishing the game. Initially, I was also unsure of what people like and here I am, perpetuating the same infinite cycle. I wish steam would allow users to write reviews in multiple languages instead of having to pick the one that would have the most reach. I realized while playing that there are certain quirks that strongly disfavor certain demographics. I would really like to write this again urging people to play the game anyway in spite of that. Thank you for entertaining my long winded review. I hope it would go on to achieve what I want it to do.

even though it is impossible to complete the game without tips on web because there is too little clue, you have to play this game. my playing recommendation is, at first just play 1 or 2 hour only with your own capacity. then watch tips on web. i wish i got a little more information to complete and understand story. however, this game is pretty novelty and cool. and this game recalled me a passion of learning English because i'm a Japanese English learner who study language that not mother tongue. thank you.

I learned that the key elements for proper language development are the environment and experience, and that picture books are very suitable for the purpose of eradicating illiteracy from the perspective of educational purposes and interests. 언어의 장벽 극복하기
