The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a humorous science fiction novel by English writer Douglas Adams. The first book of the series of the same name. The book begins with the fact that the house of the protagonist Arthur Dent is trying to demolish to build a new highway. To stop the demolition, Arthur lies down in front of the bulldozer, after which his friend Ford Prefect arrives. Ford tells Arthur that he is a stranger from the Betelgeuse neighborhood, and that Planet Earth is planned to be destroyed for the construction of a hyperspace highway. Trying to escape, friends move to the ship of the alien race of the Wogons for a few moments before they destroy the Earth. For illegal entry, they are tortured with the poetry of the Wagons (considered one of the worst in the Universe), and then thrown into space, where they are picked up by the ship “Heart of Gold”, stolen by Zaphod Biblebrox. Along with Trillian and robot Marvin, Zaphod is looking for the legendary planet of Magratei. The Hitchhiker’s book Guide to the Galaxy was inspired by Adams in Austria, while hitchhiking to Istanbul. The story was originally embodied as a radio show for BBC Radio, which premiered on March 8, 1978. After the release of the last series of radio shows, Adams received an offer from two publishers about the publication of the “Guide ...” as an art book. Adams invited the role of co-author John Lloyd (Eng.) Russian., Helps him write the script for the last two episodes for a radio show.
