This game is so close to being amazing, but the clunkiness of the gameplay really holds it back. It's a wonderful mix of Sim City, Minecraft, and Grand Theft Auto. I love the rival gangs, being able to buy lots, or just outright existing buildings, and the whole economy aspect of the game. But dear lord, the driving and shooting. You're always going to be outnumbered until you're a decent ways into a game and can afford to hire goons. Enemies hurt, even on lower difficulties, and if you happen into a room with 2-3 guys, you're dead. You can 1v1 enemies, and kill 3 or 4 on your own and survive, but it's tough. This would be fine, if there was any kind of gunplay or cover system, but there's not. That's one of the two glaring issues with the game, guns just feel bad. They never feel powerful, except maybe rockets, and it really just comes down to baiting enemies and hoping you don't get overwhelmed. Cover does nothing except offer you a reprieve to reload. Taking even a small gang base can be a challenge, unless you cheese it by hopping on the roof. Considering this is such a large element in the game, I really wish they had refined the movement and the shooting to be something more than the most basic it could be. Outside of that, vehicles are terrible. They feel bad, with no weight or difference between them besides shape. Tanks/planes/helicopters are the only exceptions, as they at least do something different than the basic vehicles. Haven't tried planes, but helicopters feel pretty bad as well. They don't hold their level, and will tip forward past where holding spacebar to go up can keep it in the air, with a keyboard anyway. The worst part of the vehicles is any time you have to deal with police. You can't go anywhere. You just get surrounded and "pinned", even when there's space, or you should be able to nudge a vehicle out of the way for that little extra space you need. Lastly, I won't list this as an issue, or necessarily a negative, though I personally don't like it. The police arrest you by being near you. It makes sense if they pin your vehicle and you can't move, but if you can move at least a little, it shouldn't apply in my opinion. Beyond this, this also applies on foot, while they're unloading into your face. You can mow down hundreds of police, but the bar will slowly fill more and more. And they can do this over a pretty large range, so you'll often find yourself getting arrested through walls. Makes bank heists, or anything fun like that pretty tedious and frustrating. If you like basic and more childish gameplay, along with the other elements, then this is the game for you. If not, you might want to hold off. In some ways it's a masterpiece, in others, it's extremely lacking.

Probably the biggest fever dream of a game I've ever played. While all the mechanics in this game are relatively straightforward and are something you can figure out on your own to an extent, the implications of those mechanics and how they interact with you and other mechanics is what really causes this game to be something special. For starters, there's optional AI factions that slowly build their own cities using pre-made buildings (that you yourself can build in case custom buildings aren't your thing). They can also optionally be allowed to start wars with other factions. That includes OTHER (AI) factions. They can also form alliances among themselves and then start wars with other (AI) faction alliances. Sounds straight forward each of those things right? Well, not quite. Its how it plays out gameplay wise is when things get interesting. Because they're always expanding, there will come a point where even if you're a neutral party to it all, if two major alliances have bases near yours and they're having a ongoing war. Guess what? You're now gonna be collateral damage with their RPG assaults on each other. Also potholes. Lots and lots of street potholes. Expect traffic jams. (FYI, cars drive on the left side of the road in this game btw). There's a insurance feature that basically allows you to save a location as it is. So if it is modified from how it was last "saved", you can pay a small in game currency fee to repair the building to when it was "last saved" so to speak. So don't worry to much about the RPG shenanigans from AIs and players alike, because this game also supports multiplayer. You can actually form alliances with the AI as well. Wars too. So if you have a bunch of AI factions and players on one server together, lets just say, things can get outta hand rather fast. Guns in this game can be modified to an extent with up to two attachments. For example, Explosive Ammo + a Scope. Explosive Ammo can be applied to any gun btw. Again, small detail, but one with many implications. Those pre-made buildings have utility to them too. To over generalize the city building elements, Industry creates demand for Residential. Residential creates demand for nearby Commercial buildings. Commercial buildings also have a thinly visible line while building them so you can see if its within range of a Residential building. So use that to tell if your Residential buildings are close enough. Industry and Commercial buildings create demand for Offices. Demand for Offices increases with the size of the city as well. Supply is whether or not your buildings can adequately sustain said demand. For example, there can be a high demand for Offices but there's not enough of them built or enough big enough to actually supply that demand. Small straightforward system, but one that makes you need to think enough to not just drop buildings anywhere without a plan. The crazy thing is how you can make your own buildings in case you don't like the pre-made ones. So instead of the pre-made houses/apartments, you can make your own. Which means you can make in game money off of said buildings you've just made. Giving them utility outside of "I just wanted to build it". Now it does something after the project is done. Build a mall, make a ramen shop, have them make money. Go crazy. However there is one limitation, you can only have Custom buildings be labeled as either Industry, Office, or Residential. You cannot create Custom Commercial buildings as of this time. So for now, make your ramen shops and just categorize it as something else like a Office. Throw it smack dab in the middle of your city. No one will suspect a thing lol. Some buildings that fall in certain building categories mentioned earlier have additional interactions you can do with them. For example, Gun Shops and Banks can be robbed/looted by you. With somewhat decent rewards both items wise and EXP wise to boot. That's another thing, there's like RPG mechanics in this game. You can upgrade your HP, Defense, Attack, I forgot the name of this one but it allows you to pick a Perk that gives you specialist bonuses, and even just upping your income by a percentage. PLEASE do upgrade those stats. The enemies in this game don't play. Just one of them could very easily Ultra-Instinct strafe around your bullets like crazy and kill you rather fast (early game). The AI is weird in that sense. Either you cheese them without them being able to fight back, or theY FUCKING HALL ASS AT MACH-SPEED strafing around like they're playing COD or something! Make sure your aim is snapping, because it will need to be on those occasions where the AI decides to book it at your general location. Your own bases can be upgraded to have up to three friendly AI's units guard them. Its expensive to do, but get this, you can take them with you and have them follow and fight along side you. You can also give them basic orders like "stay here" basically. You can (at least as of the year 2022) bring up to 4 AI's with you on your journey's. Other players can do this, meaning each player could potentially count as squads of 5 at a time. If you have enough bases with a lot of fortification/protection from your raw amount of AI allies at your bases, you can then launch "Base Attacks". These are large scale attacks via your faction's friendly AI's. The recharge rate and how many you can "store" is based around how many fortified bases you have. These attacks can also be used on Bandit bases. Do note that the AI also has the ability to launch base attacks on other AI's and you as well. Buildings can be saved and brought to other save files. You just need enough in-game cash to slap it down somewhere of your choosing. Which means, indirectly progress on files you may prefer to play solo on, you can make a killer building, and then just paste it onto a multiplayer open save-file. While this game does have limitations to it's systems (gravity can feel "off" sometimes, gun recoil and menus can be a bit "utilitarian" feeling at times), the systems that are available here have just enough flare and utility that it creates a experience I have yet to find in any other game. It simply does what it has set out to do. It truly lives up to the "sandbox" genre that many games pretend that they're but very few can actually legitimately be considered one. This game is the real deal. As for some closing thoughts: Its also $7.99 (USD) which makes me feel like I'm robbing the mad lad who mad this game. Who to my knowledge is the only person working on this game. Anything cosmetically you can just get in game. That $7.99 is a flat cost. Once you've bought this game, no DLC BS. No season pass this, lootbox that. Nope, you have access to the whole deal. If you can get used to how "blunt/utilitarian" the game can feel at times, you will have an absolute blast (possibly literally depending on what you're doing) playing this game! PS: Items inside chests are not "saved" with that insurance feature mentioned earlier. So if you plan on stocking items, please have it as far away from the fighting as possible or you'll absolutely lose said items if the chest gets destroyed.

The price even when its not on discount is awesome for the content you get! Honestly this game is incredible and difficult even on easy! Its like minecraft and gta had a baby and voxel turf came out. I don't leave alot of reviews infact I think this is my first but I felt this needed to be said and wouldn't want people missing out on this gem.

To be honest, this was one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences in a while- as a customer, however - one thing I would work on would be the base raiding; raids happen far too quickly without enough warning, I can barely reach them before my defenders all die and I'm left to try and survive. I don't see a way to plan raids on other bases, however, I'm probably just missing something - tell me if I am :) Great experience for such a simple-looking yet complex game, amazing job! :3

Voxel Turf UPDATED!**** Where do I start? Me and my friend just found this and we've already fallen in love with it in ONE HOUR of game play! I cant express just how great the open world RPG is here. It's everything you want from a voxel game! thankyou so much for this game, this is great! loving the features, the building, the shooting, jacking cars, yelling at random people haha We just went to war with a base coz we thought it would be easy! yeah, no.... had 40 guys storm us and we were done for xD Starting server 2 now! We are number 1 so far, many have tried attacking us, we even had one guy cap our base, and us cap his, but we took him down no problems when we realized what is happening, and I hired some guards to defend while we attacked :P ***Features seen so far - Living world like GTA, cars and people everywhere, police, enemies. - You buy land, you make a base, you build it! or there is templates for those who are in it for the Role Play (we've gone for an italian mafia theme >:D) - The weapons - mostly guns right now, buy the gun, get the ammo, fire away, you have pistols, SMG, Assualy Rifles, Snipers, Semi Auto and Rocket Launchers, and a few upgrades you can purchase and attach to your weapon such as explosive rounds or sights. - Land management, you can zone commercial. residential, etc. (seriously what game has this? this is AMAZING) You are looking at creating demand for your business by having residential nearby and offices which boost commerce and residential, so there is a lot of strategy behind it, and there is plenty of custom properties to choose from to get your monopoly running! - You hire AI to defend you base land, the base functions as your HQ and influence over an area, which will show how powerful you are, adding these goons will set respawnable guards that will fight for you if you are away from base during turf war, or help you against the CDF - Business's that make profit, steal cars for money, architect make money for selling your buildings/creations, if you create a custom house, office or business, you can then set its value (worth of blocks) into a custom residentials/commerce/office and it will generate income and provide population. Its like you are playing a perfect Grand Theft Auto minecraft game, with so much more The game could use some obvious hud enhancments to make things looks more serious, but hey it just came out, so thats just an opinion/suggestion come on honestly, this is so perfect, Im going to have 1000 hours in this ASAP LOVE THIS GAME BUY IT, YOU WONT REGRET IT <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Conceptually this game is amazing. You take the best aspects of GTA: San Andres, Sim City, and Minecraft and combine their mechanics to form a game where you can progress in skill, progress in monetary value, create custom buildings and fight over turf or just make money. In practice, its actually pretty good. It takes a bit to get into the game, and it feels like everything is overpriced and a horrible grind at first and every enemy one shots you. This goes away once you learn the game and understand the mechanics and combat. The zoning, the protection money, the stealing cars, the cops, the enemy bases, the turf wars, and the random missions. It all adds up to be pretty awesome. Probably the best aspect is being able to custom create your own buildings as in multiplayer, you can load up a town with all your own buildings.

Do you like... Cities: Skylines Minecraft Sub-rosa Well you will love this game! and it's an absolute steal at £5.59 with the amount of features this has to offer and the level of detail that is currently in it. This game has a bright future. Grab it while you can!

After playing this game for a few hours I can confidently say that this game is worth the money. After playing the game for around an hour or two on singleplayer I learned the basics and then brought up an online server with my dedicated machine. I've met quite a few players and gotten in contact with the developer he responds very quickly to any questions and bugs that are brought up. Anyways lets bring up the pros and cons. Pros+ - Open World that is always changing - Co-Op missions - Fast paced combat - Base building - City management - Active developer Cons- - Early Access, bugs are to be expected - Not very many players yet - Repetitive missions Notes: The way the game is set up I am sure that someone can create script custom missions and place them in workshop. I also think as time goes on the game will get a lot more players. In the future the game will definitely get more players. My server is one of the most popular servers currently and we are averaging about 20 players+ a day. Conclusion: If you like GTA, City Building, Gang PVP, etc. This game is perfect for you.

Very neat game from a one-man team. It's a concept I've been wanting to see implemented: GTAV and Minecraft elements. Of course, as the game is indie to the max, you shouldn't go in expecting the complexity and dev time those multi-million (and -billion) games have. Being able to build a city, run missions that will wreck havok on it, and then rebuild (or leave it looking like a warzone) is pretty cool. It's nice to see the care applied to building each of the game's buildings, especially on Special, unlockable buildings. It's also great that the game has multiplayer from the get-go. You click it and it just works. It's a surprise, given the hell I usually go through to get servers up for indie games. Going from struggling to make a few bucks, to making thousands of money per minute is really satisfying. With workshop integration, patches and modding, the game has potential to live on, past its release capabilities. For the price, there's definitely enough content to be enjoyed! As always do watch a few videos to see if it's your thing. Thanks for reading! :)

This game is a neat little gem that combines quite a few interesting mechanics and systems from other games and breeds them to create a fun, play-your-own-way voxel sandbox. Although the graphics are of questionable quality and the gunplay is undoubtedly horrible, I feel that this has lots of potential and is already a fun game of strategy and deceit when playing both offline or online.
