  Weird little games like this are my thing. I'm a big fan of short'ish highly crafted games. I dont have time for long drawn out play throughs. If you’re a fan of Inside this will be right up your alley. The art/sound design are soooo good and I would easily recommend this tittle. Also, I like that things are a bit unexplained, it makes you think and really aids the immersion. With that said I will say there is some some jank to the controls, and collision of objects. Not enough to keep me from enjoying the game though. Haven't seen my dog in quite a while, I almost die, dog excited to see me barking his head off in the distance, as he sits to greet me I stand up and walk past happy dog. Really wish I could pet my dog.

  A lovely, if janky little game about how war affects individuals. Although the game has it's issues. The story is one that deserves to be told considering modern times. The game is similar to Limbo and Inside but usually falls barely short. Still however a great time and and a great start for Jumpship.

  Incredible visually stunning. Each frame of this game feels like interactive concept art. Excellent sound design and atmospheric audio. Controls can be a little janky, but not enough to ruin your enjoyment. If you like Inside, you'll love this.

  oh man......i want to like this game. it looks and sounds fantastic, just like INSIDE. but the controls are awful. invisible walls everywhere, not just off the beaten path either. its like every object has their collision mesh 150% larger than its visual size, you will constantly be rubbing up against (and slowed down/stopped) by EVERY. LITTLE. PIECE. OF. GEOMETRY. the grab points. they are way too small and precise. you will spend 30% of your playtime wiggling back and forth infront of every obvious yellow colored handle trying to get it to grab the thing an inch from your face the limited speed. i get that they want you to take it slow and soak in the visuals, but you arent allowed to go faster than a shuffle in wide open areas unless its a scripted chase. even then you will still be limited to slowly, casually, painfully pulling yourself up a half foot rock step with an enemy breathing down your neck. the story is.....ok. i wanted more. there is no conclusion. you will have even more questions than when you started. you could say the journey is the adventure, etc, but look at games like INSIDE for mystery done in a satisfactory way tl:dr unlock the walking speed, double the size of the magnetism effect when grabbing interactables, and dont halt momentum when moving towards impassible geometry, and you would have an 8 or 9 out of 10. as it stands, its a frustrating 6

  Wow. What an absolutely incredible ride this was! The graphics, atmosphere, music, cinematic views were all so superb!! I did get stuck with the character a time or two but nothing game breaking and I didn't have to restart far back or anything. I still have no idea what the hell happened but I love how it's so open for you to interpret the ending yourself. So many questions. I would love to learn more about the lore of this world I can't get enough of it. Going back to play my favorite parts in the game and get some screenshots! One last thing I would recommend is you use a controller, it made everything so much easier.

  i loved Limbo and Inside, so i was very excited for this game. i played this for an hour and wasnt enjoying any of it. the character randomly gets stuck on nothing all the time, and using the interact button on objects rarely works, even when youre directly in front of the object. the gameplay and story are also super boring so far. my friend literally fell asleep watching me stream this. im not sure if its worth it to continue playing, i might just get a refund but i'll wait and see what other people think.

  I wanted to like Somerville but it really isn't a good game. The atmosphere, art style and especially the sound design all are great but the things that actually make a good game are very poor. The gameplay and level design are both utter garbage, with the early level design in particular being abysmal. The game also seems like it was rushed out, there are numerous technical problems, ranging from the interaction hitboxes being way too much small so you spend a good 10 seconds on some trying to find the perfect pixel the game expects you to stand for the interaction and the character clipping and getting stuck on every single tiny pebble of geometry; up to the game outright breaking if you try to play with a K+M without 1st configuring it and one level just refusing to load for me, forcing a restart. There also seems to be a small but frequent stutter issue. The story is so-so, you have the overarching alien invasion which is interesting but as the game goes on it just throws new things at the player in an attempt to keep them engaged without any attempt to reason or explain them, things just happen and you go along with it. The characters also really aren't characters, there's no trace of personality to latch onto, except maybe the dog so there's no investment in anything that happens to them. I give Somerville a 5.5, i'd go as low as a 4 cause I really didn't have a good time but the art style, sound design and surprisingly good opening chapter help keep the game out of true trash tier.

  The controls are FÛCKlNG awful!!

  I'm playing this with a controller, as I believe it is supposed to be played. It's so frustrating to go to every possible door or gateway (or whatever you have to grab), spend five seconds pressing the button there and then getting to conclusion "oh, this is not where I'm supposed to go", then you walk back and spend some time wondering around with no idea where to go. Then you go back and try to adjust your character again to the door etc. and then the character suddenly crabs it... The whole movement of the character is such a tedious task and it's so clumsy. Really awkward to play. I'm really wondering why it is so bad, since the whole game is based on that simple movement and one (1) grabbing mechanic. How did they fail in one mechanic, that requires pressing a one button? It's such a beautiful and atmospheric game and I really want to continue it, but I had to stop playing it for now. Literally half of the stuff that I am supposed to grab it takes like 5-20 tries before I succeed. It started already in the tutorial and I was fearful it would be like that the rest of the game, and so it seems... In a game like this, why they just couldn't "over do" the grabbing mechanic and not the other way around? I'm now comparing this to LIMBO and INSIDE where the mechanics are really similar, and those games really nailed it. It's smooth and effortless, it makes the games enjoyable ride. However, this game is an opposite of that. I'm now waiting until they FIX the clumsy grabbing mechanic. In the next two weeks, before my refund possibility expires: - if they have fixed it, good, I will continue the game and change my review to positive, because I have a feeling that this COULD be really awesome game - if they haven't fixed it, I will refund the game, keep my review as negative and forget this game and Jumpship (The studio that made this game)

  I really wanted to love this game but I really can't. The only thing it has are the amazing Visuals. The Gameplay is really shallow and gets stale really fast. The indirect Narration is really lackluster most of the time. I also ran into alot of bugs which included me being frozen in place multiple times, inputs not registering and many more. I was done with this game in a little under 3 hours and the rest of the time just comes from me hunting for the rest of the achievements, not really worth the price tag.

  I want to kick myself in the face for listening to the critic reviews before the Steam ones because HO BOY I did NOT enjoy this. The opening scene is fantastic and it does have an interesting central game mechanic but the controls are awful and the gameplay is janky as hell. Interactive objects aren't highlighted properly and sometimes it's hard to even INTERACT with them, puzzles do not feel clever or intuitive (there were a number of times where I was like "what the hell am I supposed to do?"), and I just found the story hollow and meaningless. It just felt super frustrating to play. It's possible that the PC port isn't good (I remember the store page initially saying that a control was required, which implies this was originally meant for consoles), but either way, I feel like any enjoyment I might have gotten out of an otherwise acclaimed game was robbed because of how bad it felt to play. I hope this gets a patch soon so I can give the game a second chance, but for now, I just get no enjoyment out of it, and recommend everyone else to just stick with Limbo and Inside.
