  Having read the more negative comments before making my purchase I was somewhat dubious about whether this game would be of the quality I've come to expect from Ironhide. Having played plenty enough already to make up my mind, I can tell you the answer to that question is an emphatic yes. The best way I can explain this game is as a sort of choose your own adventure turn based isometric roguelite. You control a party of three adventurers each with their own abilities, strengths and weaknesses and along the way pick up a fourth. By playing the game you gain access to new party members to choose from and new upgrade choices for the characters you use the most. Once you've selected your party you will embark on an adventure which brings you to a map dominated by nodes, without going into exhaustive detail this is where the choose your own adventure aspect comes in with the added spice of a little RNG. Personally I like this, each adventure is somewhat randomised in terms of nodes and random encounters giving the game a huge amount of replay-ability. The boss fights are tough and if you make a mistake the game isn't going to forgive you. The humour still gets the odd chuckle too. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that this game is super deep and it'll consume your life or that the controls on PC are perfectly intuitive. However, it is a really solid game to play while you listen to an audio book or to use as a break from work or study and I've already found myself spending hours engrossed in it half-oblivious to the outside world, something I haven't experienced in a game for what feels like years. If you like this sort of game or you're really into Kingdom Rush like me you will probably love Legends of Kingdom Rush. If you're the kind of gamer who wants really tough in-depth turn based strategy games it may not be for you (but give the demo a shot, it might surprise you).

  I was iffy about this game as it's not the typical tower defense that Kingdom Rush games have been known to be. In my opinion I was right to be iffy, this game gets so boring so fast. Not only is there very little variation in enemies as well as tactics, but the difficulty doesn't seem to matter. In fact I do better on the harder difficulty which makes no sense. I hit a plateau where the game got insanely harder and I cannot honestly figure out how I'm supposed to progress. From what I can tell they expect you to figure out exactly which combination of fighters you need to progress. But doesn't that defeat the point of CHOOSING your fighters? It's not just the progression plateau, I found the only reason I played beyond the first 2 hours was because there were some easy side achievements. I'm past 2 hours so I can't refund the game, but I honestly have no itch to reopen and continue playing it. I've done the same 5 fights over and over and over. I've beat the dead horse and see nothing more of interest in this title unfortunately. I guess it's not the worst $15 I've ever spent, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. I love the Kingdom Rush tower defense games, but this is not one of them and in my opinion this title steers the series in a direction I'm not interested in. They make great tower defense games, why did they stop? Hell if I know, all I know is I'm disappointed. If you also enjoyed their tower defense games, just know that this is an entirely different type of game and that you're taking a risk. I regret purchasing this game, if you're on the fence about it I'd recommend passing.

  It's not bad, but it's also pretty shallow. Each character has only three levels, you can't find or equip items, you can't control the order of your characters, you can't choose stats, the character progression over time isn't very deep. This means each run isn't very randomized, and the customization is pretty low. That said, it's a pretty and relaxing game, and it's fun enough. It's just focused on being a mobile-oriented travel game. That's fine if that's what you're looking for -- otherwise, there are better games in the same genre, like Wildermyth -- and even better games by the same studio, like their tower defense games.

  As much as I'm a fan of Kingdom Rush games, I can't in all honesty recommend this. Simply put there is too little content and all 4 levels can be beaten in 6 hours or so. For the content that is there, it is quite a nice game, but the shortness of it leaves me feeling ripped off. I bought this because I was a fan of Ironhide games and trusted their reputation, but now I'll think twice before buying any more Ironhide games.

  TL;DR - Game is fun, with bugs that could ruin a run. Lacks content atm with only 5 maps. Pros: - Easy to pickup once you are familiar with game mechanics - Decent replayability - Good character selection/Team Composition Cons: - RNG could be a real bummer sometimes - Controls takes time to get used to - Beginning of the game will be difficult with limited characters - Only 5 maps This game is honest a good simplified roguelite for people that likes Turn-based combat, Random Encounters, and planning a path through a dungeon. To me it's a Slay The Spire path finding plus FF Tactics type combat. Character progression might seems pointless since leveling and progressing through a dungeon is difficult in the beginning. This is due to the initial learning curve of understanding of the enemy types and counters. Once you are past that initial bump, progressing will feel more natural. You will get frustrated as the game tends to up its difficulty with random events or encounters that could wipe your team before you're 2 tiles in. Which could discourage new players, especially if you have a good start/RNG. But I assure you even with my best team it happens, and it's something I eventually learned to accept. Now the real thing that almost turned me away from the game was the controls. Which is a mix of point and click plus keyboard (I haven't played with a controller yet). I initially played it as I did with most ironside mobile games, with point and click, but soon found it is far too unreliable as I find myself using the wrong ability from time to time. I soon adapted to using 1,2,3 for the abilities and E for end turns, which basically completely solved my control problems. Replayability will differ from person to person. I personally enjoy rerunning a dungeon with a different team just to try different combos. The game does a good job of mixing up encounters along the way and providing different daily/challenge dungeons for quick play. But I do find the weakness of the game to be it's lack of maps. I feel like there could be more, but I suppose for it's current price tag, it provides just enough content for a good 6-8 hours.

  The arts and graphics are good as usual. However, the game spoiled by the weird gameplay mechanics. It's a good thing that Ironhide want to try something new, but this game makes me feel like it is more focus on showing their colorful arts (by exploring different heroes) instead of focus on making the gameplay fun. The things I really don't like: - Only 3 levels for each characters, and the characters loss all the levels and progression after each game. I understand that Ironhide have a few famous tower defense game, but it's really not necessary make a SRPG game like tower defense game, where we needed to build the tower from Level 1 in every game. - Sometimes a normal enemy can one hit KO a full HP character. If a character die, his Max HP will decreased after the battle and this makes the game becomes harder and harder. If all the characters die, then you have to restart the stage. - Unbalanced enemies/allies

  Well, if you like Kindom Rush, you won't like this one, because it is no Tower defense, but a roundbased tactics game with very limited units and a confusing item system. If you like roundbased combat games, you won't like this one, because it's just not strategic/diverse/interesting enough. This might have been a good spin off, but the mix doesn't ... mix. It is seperately a goofy story, a mediocre roundbased combat game, a comicy and very well drawn looker, and Kingdom Rush tribute. But in this case, and to me, the parts are less than their sum.
