  For people with windows 10 problems I did this right before a refund and the game works now. Right click kain2.exe (under steam/steampps/common/legacy of kain soul reaver), go to properties, compatibility tab, run in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3, select OK. In same folder, right click BinkPlay.exe and run as administrator. Close the player window when it opens. Right click kain2.exe, select run as administrator. When the launch options pop up, leave everything on defaults. It can all be changed in-game. Click OK. Play game.

  For those who are getting error kaine2.exe on windows 10. Google dgvoodoo and click top link from your results. Scroll to the bottom to "Various Patches" and click download link. Scroll down to Winplay DLL - potential crash, download this patch. Replace the Winplay DLL file in your Soul Reaver game file with your newly downloaded Winplay DLL, but back up the origional file just in case. Launch the game, choose your Graphics Processor on the launch window and select 1080 dimension. Enjoy your game xD Hope this helps as it took me about an hours research to get this running but its a fun game so far reminds me of my childhood :) goodluck getting used to the keyboard controls.

  When open world without loading screen isn't a common thing back in a day, this game deliver a technology that ahead its time when it release in 1999. Yes, you can play this game from start until the final boss without a single loading screen. This technology blend with metroidvania world design, and became one of the first 3D open world metroidvania game. By the way. the technology is just a one thing that what made this game great. Beside story, world design, voice acting, atmospheric, dark fantasy setting that influence a later game like DARK SOULS. One thing if you want to try this gem on High End PC with Windows 10 64bit without any trouble, be sure to download Patch 1.2 (you can google it). Next in game folder be sure right click BinkPlay.exe and in Compability tab check Run Program As Administrator. Do same as previous method at Kain2.exe, and add compability in Windows XP (Service Pack 3). I've used that setting and played the game until finish in 22 hours. Well, this epic gem worth a modern remake !

Please Another game for this series!!!! maybe remaster + bonus chapters For people whom cannot play on windows 10: Go to the steam folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam) Open folder steamapps, then open folder common Here you select your game folder, open it there find .exe and right click/properties/compatibility Check run this program in compatibility mode for: Select Windows XP (service Pack 3) Apply -> OK Now try again to start the game.
