Headlander विशेषताएं

You are the last known human in the universe, and all that's left of you is a disembodied head. Seeking clues to your fractured past, you must travel through a hostile world of machines using a special helmet that allows you to dock into and take control of any robotic host body. As you launch from one body to the next, you'll start to discover that things are not quite what they appear to be, and the fate of humanity has yet to be decided...

Fresh from Double Fine Productions, Headlander is a retro-futuristic, side-scrolling, action-adventure game set in a world inspired by 70’s science fiction. It is a world of automation, a utopia gone wrong in which all of humanity have transferred their minds into robotic imposter bodies and are ruled by a deranged computer. Brought to you by Double Fine Productions (Psychonauts, Broken Age) and Adult Swim Games (Duck Game, Jazzpunk), Headlander is guaranteed to be the ultimate head trip.

Another awesome entry from Doublefine. Headlander is a metroidvania with gorgeous art, clever puzzles, excellent writing - really it's the whole package. Started it and couldn't put it down for 2 hours or so. Can't wait to get back to it!

70’s Psychedelia and Pulp Sci Fi Headlander is like all three of those mixed up into one crazy package. Presentation and artstyle are outstanding in this game, From the 70’s color palette, to old style special effects I love the look of this game. Graphics aside, the game mixes light puzzle action with some shooting and experimentation, which help to pace the game well where you’re not rushed into the next task but the game will allow to move forward pretty fast if you want, I’m betting we will see some speed runners have a go at this game in a while. To me it’s Double Fine at its weird best yet, by tying their imaginative gameplay streak with a stylish and trippy artstyle. 8.5/10

Great Metroid homage. Fun to look at, fun to play... Love the Hitchhikers and other sci-fi references... The story/concept is fantastically bizarre... Silly. Good silly.

Let me begin this review by saying I enjoyed my time with this game, but ultimately am conflicted about recommending it. This game is like candy, and that may sell it for you or not. It has a lot of visual flair, interesting gameplay, and decent sound design. What makes it like candy is that it's short (though 7.5 hours to complete a $20 game 100% is good bang for your buck, if that matters to you) and is entirely lacking in substance beyond its general gameplay concept and gorgeous visuals (which I have found to be the case with other Double Fine games of late, maybe their writing team doesn't know they aren't good). The story tries to allude to ideas regarding what it is to be human in a post-corporeal world, but the few audio logs you find, what Earl and Methuselah say, and the world at large don't tell a complete story in my eyes. Even though it's only 7 hours long, you will begin to tire of repeated lines from the security doors (some of which were entertaining the first dozen times) and if you re-explore old areas after completing the game, you will get tired of the new lines added in after the first time you hear them. The gameplay is compelling as you start out, with the main exception being aiming. When using a controller, it's a complete pain in the ass to aim reliably without getting killed pretty quickly in the process. If you play this anything like I did, you will end up avoiding combat and instead of shooting, rip heads off bodies. It's fairly fun to fly around, though, and see the sights. The general concept of "rip heads off, pick best color for security clearance, and avoid lasers" does not overstay its welcome. The best part of the game in terms of making you think spatially and about what you need to do to get somewhere is the Power Dome. The areas following it are a little bit more combat oriented and feature only small parts wherein you need to think. The puzzles about hitting markers nearly simultaneously are fun and brief, but I wish there were more of them. Headlander is full of many gorgeous sights to see, and the visual effects they layer on top of well executed 2.5D make it all the better. 99% of the game is inside space station type areas, but it stays fresh in my eyes throughout the whole game. You will love shooting fractal laser beams, watching them bounce around everywhere, even if those lasers don't accomplish much. The single tiiiiiny negative I can give about visuals is overwhelming chromatic abberation after a certain point in the game where an area is slow motion for a good while. I think it might have been a bug, but my game went back to normal speed but still had a kind of glow around everything from that point on. Sound-wise, the game has an enjoyable soundtrack that I would probably never listen to outside of playing the game and excellent sound effects, with no faults I can remember, writing this just after finishing it. Having said the lasers look beautiful, I also think they sound beautiful. If this game didn't look as good as it did, I wouldn't have purchased it, and if it didn't keep me interested as long as it did, I would have returned it. It's not great, it's just good. I recommend it only on two conditions: you like eye candy or it's on sale for less than $10.

Headlander has a creative, clever idea. It is Double Fine, after all. And the execution is pretty mediocre. It is Double Fine, after all. All that hilarity you saw in the trailer doesn't really translate into the game. After you get past the robot guy rubbing himself on the shag carpet, the actual gameplay is not very interesting. There's 3 main themed areas. One is interesting. One is kind of frustrating. And one is intolerable. Guess which one you get to do first? The above being said, there's two boss fights, and they are both fairly decent. If you like exploration and finding hidden stuff, you could do worse. If you like everything you do to be engaging, with a good story besides, skip it. Easily worth $5 for the concept alone, probably tolerable at $10.

It took me about 10 hours to 100% the game The game is extremely colorful, which is something I really enjoy. The setting is pretty interesting, and for the most part you have a clear objective. The only thing I really hated was that there were a handful of secret achievements that I had to google once I beat the game regularly. I had to start a new game just to get the Male Driver achievement, so look that one up before you start a playthrough.

Look, the game isn't bad, its just that it is very average and it is quite short even for me, where I tried to find everything. The time for dollar value is not there

If 70's SciFi, Austin Powers, and Metroid had a 3-some. Headlander would be the result, and what a result that is. Yes, I too seem to be one of the multitues that some how got a 33% discount coupon randomly, and took a chance on what seemed like an absurd game. Well, thanks to which ever entity that gifted me such a coupon. I have taken this offering and applied it to good use in a purchase, and am going to get numerous hours entertainment from it. Coupling an interesting game mechanic of controlling a detachable head, and kidnappable NPC bodies to complete tasks. Headlander has you giggling in the back of your mind at the inuendos as you attempt to solve the puzzles presented to you in order to complete your goals. If you long for the time when gameplay and level design reigned, with classic titles of Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Then Headlander may just be the psychedelic 70's SciFi trip you're looking for.

Being a huge Double Fine and metroidvania fan, I was looking forward to this game long before it was released. Unfortunately, Headlander is a poor game by Double Fine standards and by metroidvania standards. It falls short in (almost) every area. PROS: -Great art style -Clean controls -Base concept of switchable bodies is a brilliant idea, but they do literally NOTHING with it all game. NEUTRALS: -Very generic upgrades (I didn't use any of the active abilities except the roll attack which is really overpowered) -Very generic collectibles (health, energy, and power....but all are basically the same -Barely any puzzles -Trippy room that flips upside down appears literally for half of one room AFTER you beat the final boss of the game. This is the only room in the game with any type of mechanic to it. -Game has 2 bosses (one halfway through, one endboss). The midgame boss is just thrown at the player without any real introduction or reason as to why he's a "boss" (esp strange since the game has only 2 bosses). CONS: -No hidden areas (all the access points to a room show up on the map when you enter a room, even if you have not downloaded the map for the area from mappy) -No plot. No character development. This is really surprising because Double Fine are famous for their storytelling. Sometimes I wonder if parts of the story just didn't play on my system or something because there was virtually no plot throughout the game, but in bits and pieces (esp towards the end) there seemed to be an attempt at an actual story. By that point though, there had been character development and no build-up, so it fell very flat. -TERRIBLE level design (esp for a metroidvania game). The levels are 100% linear; you will never be able to access new parts of old areas by going back with abilities you earn later in the game (because you don't earn any abilities). -The unlockable abilities (earned via XP) are, for the most part, completely useless. Except the headboost, none of the abililties do anything in relation to map access and I don't think I used any of them throughout the game. I wasn't even aware I could slow time down until after I beat the game. -Linear "key" system does not promote any type of exploration. Since they needed to avoid players getting stuck, the colored robot will always appear through a matching colored door, so you don't really need to worry about the locks in 90% of the game. -Literally NOTHING was done with the awesome idea of body switching except using the cleaning guys to access smaller rooms (and the one dog quest if you count that). There could have been tons of different body types that all did different things, but unfortuantely not. -VERY EASY. I got a 100% run on my first playthrough without even trying. The combat difficulty is also really easy. You can switch bodies to basically regen your health and even if you do die, it is very forgiving and you start at the same room. -No "New Game+" or HARD mode, but then again why would I want to replay the game? It was so linear there is nothing left to see and there was nothing hidden.

Tough call on this game. I loved the first couple of hours. Solid mechanics, fun gameplay. But it starts to get tedious, and several times I found myself at a dead end because bodies of the right color wouldn't spawn where I needed them without a lot of back tracking to reset the area, or simply restarting the game. At some point the fun wore off, the dialog got repetative, and playing it started to feel like a chore. It was hard to quit because I so enjoyed it in the beginning.
