  Edit: With the latest update the game looks brand new! Waves are now the best of any game I've played, and the storms and sunrise/sunsets are incredible. The short and sweet: cool premise and setting, nice relaxing gameplay with a lot of glitches. The devs are really attentive, hard working, and passionate. One of my all time favorite games. Huge thank you to the devs for this absolute gem!!! This game is what I've been looking for, I found out about the deadliest catch PC game but it was only on disk and hard to find. For a long time I simply dreamed of a game like this. Fishing: Barents Sea came out, very mixed reviews in the beginning so I steered clear. This game launched, in an allbeit troublesome state. Pros: The game now is everything I wanted out of a game, my own ship, customization (not going to lie it was a surprise to me, and a real treat), relaxing gameplay with satisfying mini-game mechanics (not just press a button), and great graphics. Cons: There's two main downsides to Fishing: North Atlantic 1: The game is still riddled with bugs, some of which will completely ruin your day if you're not prepared. But, just like older games, all that is necessary to mitigate this is run multiple saves and mash that good ole F5 for quick saving, do this and aside from the occasional visual glitches this is no problem. 2: Finding fish, and catching said fish is sometimes easy, and other times a fart in a hurricane. You buy tips from Bars (in the town tab at ports) these tips are very approximate and not at all accurate but give you a nice general idea of where to start looking. The other critical tool, unless scallop dredging, is sonar which is essentially your actual eyes on what's beneath you. As soon as you see your Target fish appear on sonar lay your nets/pots, once all your gear is set skip time to when they're ready to collect. Personally the only issue I've had is with lobsters, which is great fun while it works . But after about 10 hours strip mining the habitat without closing the game (extinction turned off) I had no tips for finding more habitats, and I simply couldn't find anything on my own. Turns out in this dark scenario you want to piggyback off of your fellow fishermen, find the idle fishing boats and start scanning their area with sonar, I managed to score another entire habitat/school of lobsters this way. Seagulls are another tell, granted I'm pretty sure not for ocean floor dwelling critters. Quick tips: only turn into port when you have full cargo or are out of bait. Do some online research and forum searching. Save early, and for the love of everything good do it often. Keep in mind I've only played easy for 20 hours, roughly 10 of which was lobster hunting and another 10 was glorious scallop dredging, which is a year round species that is far too lucrative to ignore. P.S. will continue to play and eventually start a hard mode career and do all fishing types, I will update this review as I go along. P.P.S. There are a LOT of bugs, but go in with this expectation and save pariodically and you will be happy with your purchase. And get the scallop DLC, really nice boats with awesome mechanics but if you like a challenge don't buy it till you earn a decent chunk of cash in-game because it's just so lucrative it's more of a mid-late game treat with an entry level boat cheaper than the easy starter boat's sell price.

Its fun to play and build a fishing empire. The community is super nice and FINALLY a game where you can really talk to the devs and be a part in the development. Just join their Discord and you can jump straight into a discussion if a feature should be added, a game mechanic should be reworked aaaand so on... If you are interested in this kind of games you wont be dissapointed with FNA :)

  Spent 53 hours in this game, reached 3 million in revenue. And for a "full release game" I got a half assed demo filled with glitches and bugs. Yeah, you'll have fun in this game, for a time, you'll earn millions and buy bigger and bigger and better ships to earn more and more but eventually you're game will crash or freeze, or it will glitch and all of your hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours of progress will be lost, and it will not be your fault. A Lobster pot will become glitched and wont be able to be freed thus you can not save. So you must restart. A fishing line will become lost and deleted thus you can not save and you must restart, This game has great potential, but it falls on its own ass. F:NA fix your glitches and your buggs. I mean it when I say you are my biggest regret.

  Great game until I realized there was nothing left to purchase in the game. I bought every ship, every upgrade, started the game over, did the same thing. Loved the game, I just wish they had other things to purchase and strive for.

  Multiplayer is needed,the game is awesome be able to play with friends and having leader-board - competition will give this game a brand new life the game is well made a step up from bearing sea but still single player and became boring after reach top level s

  This game has a lot of potential. Overall i like it. But there is a lot to be desired in some areas. I think the price is rather too high for the content. I hope the developers take note of my points and change some things, then i will give a thumbs up. Here are some positives: +fishing is fun +different kind of fishing techniques +the ships look mostly great +economy is well made and fun +landscape and traffic is good +fishing tools and software (like the deep sea fishing with different sensors, or displays is complex) +alot of different ships +graphics are in most parts decent. +time skip in map and ship, crew management is interesting +upgrades of the ships are great +Ports are interesting and have a history and different offers or boni for good suppliers. + Sonar is ok +love to change the colors and name of the ships i own. now the negatives: -the textures, graphics and animations of fish, crabs and scallops are horrible, (the most important objects afterall) -no real bad weather and no real waves(this game needs urgently bigger waves!!!!) -the simulation aspect is shallow no real radar, no gps, no radio, no windscreen wipers for rain, no deck freezing. -almost impossible to find some fish like tuna, swordfish. In 30 hours i have not seen anything. Tips in Bars are always the same fish. -poor interactivity with the ships, taking a seat in some boats that's it. I would love to use the bunk bed to skip time, to use a laptop or tv. Also i would like to see the crew sleeping or resting. -animation when crew does something like cooking they just stand in front of kitchen -the music is very bland and way to slow. A more action driven music would be much better. Only the main song is good. -some minigames like opening scallops are really horrible, the animation does not match the mouse movement. Unbearable for a human. Workaround, hire a crew. - the progress is a bit to slow

  Its fun an I did enjoy the game. The problem is at some point the devs added trawlers to the game, they did not work right in rough seas so they removed rough seas. They said they would fix it latter. That fix never came they are now working a new title. The water does not look much better then games form 20 years ago. What you see in older videos for the game with rougher seas and better water textures are no longer in the game. The game has zero risk there are no storms you maybe see 5 meter swells. other It feels like you are on a lake. Its like if a flight simulator had no landing or taking off all you did was fly.

  Fishing Barents sea had its Bugs and Issues at release, but the Dev's fixed it up nicely to make it one of the best fishing sims out there. So I assumed they took the lessons learned and bring a flawless release for what is essentially the same game with some more features. Sadly this assumtion is wrong. Currently there are gamebreaking Bugs, like your crewman disappearing after loading, who is impossible to replace simple because crew is absurdly expensive. Also minor Issues, like the heading numbers on the compass being inverted (300° is 60° for example) and that you can set the Speed for the Autopilot on the map within the 7th decimal point, show quite some negligence if not outright lazyness. So for now I recommend you give this a pass and check again in a couple if months time if they fixed the worst issues.

  I've had to delete this review and disable comments due to the amount of trolls I was receiving messages from. Yes, I have over 120 hours into this game. No, I do not recommend you buy. I played it so you don't have to. End of review.
