  Will start by saying i never watched the anime (plan to) and these are thoughts looking at it for the game that it is and decided to complete everything in it.

  Story and Plot

  The best part about any dialogue and any major scene that occurs in the game, cutscenes included, they are all animated. The story itself is alright at best and does sorta fit the theme of what you can expect could happen with rumours and legends in a place about witches or other magical stuff in general. There are some times where it can feel a bit of a slog to know your going to go through every wonders story to obtain a key in order to actually progress the game. The idea behind every one of the wonders is a interesting concept, but lots is also run here and there, talk to so and so, do a task for someone else to convince another character. Bit fetch like. The trade off which is fascinating to see is when you do reach the end of each story, there are animated cutscenes which i think are staying original to the anime with its style. And those scenes are probably the best part about it. The stories themselves are often short but overall id say the stories are decent. Towards the end of the game theres a ghost witch you learn about and the deal with that is it was someone who used to go to luna nova, but became trapped due to the curse of time. Wasnt amazing with magic, but because of the time loop she had all the time in the world to become the best. Unfortunately much of that power resides only in the horologium chamber and nothing came of it outside of it. No catastrophe, nothing to do with having any influence over the school. Was simply another wonder like the other 6. There is an element of a connected story but also not really. every wonder is a seperate story, but the goal remains the same with finding a way to end the time loop. Which in terms of the end game, makes you think her story shouldve been a bigger influence since the start. Aside from little teasers of her spirit form casting a spell to reset the day.

  Side Stories

  These are probably more fun than the actual story of the game, however if had to give any advice it would be to do the main game first due to certain quests you have to have environmental magic to resolve certain ones. Now thanks to the infinite time loop, you will never have to worry about failing or missing anything so its best to get all the spells in the main story first before hand and come back and do them later or maybe one or two here and there. Every side quest has some entertaining dialogue, other times can be funny. Every quest is set at specific hours each day and some of them must be completed during those exact hours. Sometimes it may involve passing time to the next loop in order to fulfill it. Or it can be to do something before the actual time and then complete it when it shows up. Not much to say with side quests, the reason they can be done is there are lesser keys to acquire as well and many can only be obtained doing side-quests. The dungeons may contain items you need for other quests or if really want to go through a struggle to collect every decoration for the chamber and collecting the nightfall series. The biggest problem with these is if they are not character specific, then you can repeat the same quests over and over. On the map to the sub quest marker does not disappear even if already completed. instead you can tell you did it if its grayed out. When honestly, itd be better to not have them show up at all because if you get a new quests it may lead to the same spot but you wont know that due to another one being completed there so it ends up being extremely confusing.

  Gameplay and Magic

  This game has probably some of the most unique style of playing with magic in it for being a beat em up. The upgrade system is super unique because every spell you acquire are through constellations in astrology. Every level up you get a star point to spend on one. And there are lots, and i mean alooot of spells and points to put into. The magic itself is super cool due to the fact that over more than half are all used differently from eachother. Aside from few spells, the majority all work and are used differently. Theres a massive amount of variety with the spells you use. This makes the magic part of the game extremely satisfying and offers a bunch of replayability due to just how many there are to try out or form different combinations, builds, and to do anything to defeat any foe that steps in your path. Should note to some spells can only be acquired in secret locations and require special keys. As for the ultimate abilites, believe it or not, these are also cutscene animated and very strong spells that can do a pretty good job at mostly anytime. So while ive rarely played beat em ups. The magic part of the gameplay is by far the coolest thing about it. However there are some negatives to the gameplay. The environment is set in a 3d space, but you play it in a 2d format. This also means some projectiles can fly into the background which is a neat little detail. Lining up your characters with the enemy is difficult to learn at first. Having to move up or down and to know your in the same path as the enemy to avoid missing with a spell doesnt make it easy. You have to be really accurate and certain you will not miss. As spells have cooldowns and some very long. So missing with a mega spell can be quite annoying. Some spells to do have a homing property or like lighting it can spread out a bit. However any spell that does not take up much space requires precision and lining up properly. Another downside is some level designs. All lesser dungeons are identical, its a straight path, higher lvl means more rooms and a boss. Story dungeons are a totally different story. Regulus mines however is by far the worst map. Every story stage is designed fittingly for what they are. Canopus ruins is a dungeon filled with traps, mimosa is a illusory mirage type of forest much like a maze, pollux is medieval with switches and a vertical level structure. Shaula is a desert with going underground in quicksand and on the surface. The design is fair for what they are and definitely outperforms the lesser dungeons. For boss fights each one story wise are all unique as well, however some are also more time consuming than they need to be. Cool concepts but could be better executed since the ai breaks with some of them.

  Conclusion

  Out of the hours played theres alot more i can say, but overall i think the game is good for what it is. The devs tried their best to stay true to the original style of the characters and even some of the original voices as far as i know also helped in it. The game is really fun once you get the hang of it given some time so if you enjoy variety and lots of magic even if only care about the gameplay part then its worth a shot. Same for if you enjoy the characters, animation themselves.

  boring on all aspects, best thing about it is the cast and voice acting. game is a walking sim with a time mechanic that forces u to do things at a specific time in order to make any progress. Enjoy walking from your room then finding out where u need to go only to realize you took too long and the time frame has passed for that quest, enjoy staring the day all over again!
