  There is unfortunately a serious bug that makes the game pretty much unplayable at the more advanced levels. Known as the "lazy worker" bug, craftsmen (especially woodcutters and well workers) will never work and simply lie down and sleep instead of gathering raw materials. This is a known bug, dating back to the original CD, which had never been corrected or fixed,

  Great throwback. Just as I remembered. Only note is that there seems to be a bug when playing on Windows 10, here is the bug and the fix: Bug: workers will stop working and just sleep, you may notice no wood or stone coming into warehouses and you will see your workers sleeping at the wood and stone camps. Fix: close CivCity and open Steam, go to library and right click on CivCity:Rome, open Properties>Local Files and click validate local files. Then reopen CivCity and the bug should be fixed.

  City Building and Civilization come together in this city-state based game. Build your settlement from just a few huts into a detailed and thriving center of trade, conquest and research. The game reminds me alot of the ANNO series where you have settlers that come into your city, you have to fill certain needs, and they level up. A player can choose from a free-build city, to doing the campaign, and even beyond to playing your own custom maps that YOU as a player can create. A few things I have noticed that are not accurate, is that aquaduct technology allowed for one main trunk to branch into smaller segments, in this game that does not occur so you do not get the representation of the True aquaduct system. However the gameplay was not affected by this. One thing that I do NOT like about it is that I found the maps to be small. I mean really small. I constantly had a high unemployment. Apparently settlers just come in even if there is no spare work slots. And the workers dont leave if you bulldoze work places if you move them. Documented sources via gametap.com/formus have stated that "when happiness is positibe, immigrants arrive reguardless of housing and cause unemployment and housing chrises" With this said its kinda broken in a sence if you have 100% happiness you will always have a high unemployment. Another thing is that widescreen support is not automatically built into the game on download. (As also documented in steam forums) HOWEVER there are fixes and solutions for this that can be found on google. Now then for the positives. It is a simple game. The menus are easy to navigate, and the gameplay is easy and quick to comprehend. For example Wheat farm -> Wheat -> Mill -> Flour -> Bakery -> Bread. Another thing is that it IS addictive. looking at my clock I played 3-4 hours on one map straight through. Please remember to set yourself a timer when you play this game I will not be responsible if you spend 3 whole days on the game and forget to eat or sleep. Yes it is that addicting. Other thoughts : I wish widescreen resolution was included with the game. I wish there was alot more realism, for example you cant build on mountains.. Yet the alps are in the north, and the apennine run through the center. I am quite sure the Romans found a way around that. Overall : Would recommend. Due to price. Recommend x 1.5 ..   A strategic level-based city building simulator in the vein of the Caesar/Pharoah series of old. It's easy to understand but operates slightly differently from how most others do (where road access between buildings is necessary for benefits), instead opting for a direct "distance" approach in order for benefits to convey. Because of this, some strategies may seem non-intuitive at first to folks who are experienced in the genre. It's competent, and fun - not the best example of the genre, but a good way to spend some time if you're into this type of game.

  Amazing game, just great at scratching that little nostalgia itch. The graphics haven't aged too well, but the gameplay mechanics are superb and the game has a lot of soul, with challenging and fun missions and enough personalization options to make each city look and feel distinct. Really a great little city builder. It's just a shame that this version has a recurring BUG that totally ruins your cities sometimes for no discernible reasons. Sometimes, your workers simply refuse to go to work, despite having a house, workplace, work schedule, fulfilled needs... they simply don't go to work. Happens with ressource producing buildings, such as woodcutters or tunic makers, happens with water carriers or public services buildings, so it's not linked to storage issues in the city. And it seems to mostly happen in maps with mulitple missions during the campaign. Probably a bug of the Steam version or linked to the age of the game. It is a damn shame that a game still sold on Steam has a bug that problematic. Especially since there are no real solutions. You can try deleting and rebuilding the workplace, building it somewhere else (which costs money and thus can kill a city on hard difficulty), reinstalling the game, restarting, and so on, but nothing seems to work consistently. Sometimes the bug just happens, sometimes it leaves you alone. For this reason, I do not recommend buying it as is. This stupid bug is just unacceptable in a game over 20 years old and still sold on Steam. Developers, get your act together and solve this before trying to sell it to more people. TLDR : this version has a game-breaking bug, don't buy unless it gets fixed.

  Plain and simple, this is a city-builder based around Rome. Grow massive grape fields for all that delicious Roman vino, give all your plebs some grain, build shrines to all their stolen gods, and then host gladiator tournament after gladiator tournament. The campaign itself is fun and engaging. If these two companies made a sequel I'd buy it up so fast. 8/10 would recommend during a sale, $10 is just too much for any game over ten years old at this point.

  DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! I played this game 15+ years ago when it came out. Very fun. Loved it. Saw it last week ---> Nostalgia impulse buy. The only problem was that it had a bug that rendered it COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE, namely a few hours into the game the workers would sit idling all day. The bug is still not fixed after 15+ years. I have tried all the work-arounds suggested online (uninstall/reinstall, admin permissions, change compatibility settings, etc.) and the bug keeps returning. ONE bug? Okay, report it and let the developer fix it. Still... after 15+ years? That is trashy. I love Firefly games but that is tuh-rashy and deserves no support from users. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.
