stupid fucking bullet sponges. This game could have been so great but no. They just had to make it a goddamn level based shooter. If it was anything like the e3 promised, maybe ubisoft would actualy be a respected fucking company at this day and age. The premise is incredible, coop is fun, NY is beatifuly made and detailed, BUT THE FUCKING LEVELS. Especialy the last boss fight. If this game focused more on the story aspect and made the missions seem like an important thing, maybe then levels wouldnt be annoying. Overall 17 hours wasted that ill never get back. :)

It's a third person cover-based shooter with an emphasis on loot acquisition and combat optimization. While there is player-vs-player gameplay, mostly it's player-vs-environment (AI). While the shoot-and-loot gameplay is nothing special (Borderlands does it better) what really sets the game apart is the atmosphere and setting. The plotline involves a devastating bioweapon attack on New York City that causes a collapse of law and order. You are a part of the titular "Division", a secretive government agency that is activated after all else has failed. You've certainly got your work cut out for you, as the city has been overrun by escaped convicts, looters, and a group of insane sanitation workers ("Cleaners") that are determined to burn the virus out by killing all potential hosts. And really, this is the best post-apocalyptic depiction of NYC, or any city for that matter, that I've ever seen. You've got ransacked police stations, looters in the streets, civilians scavenging for food, an impressive dichotomy of normal city life juxtaposed with signs of societal collapse... Graphically the game is stunning. The Snowdrop game engine has some excellent weather effects. I never thought I would say that snow in a video game could be beautiful, but in The Division it is! There are furious blizzards, lighter snow flurries, high-resolution footprints in the snow, and even a light dusting of snow on your character's shoulders after they've been outside for awhile. But it's not just snow that looks good. Skyscrapers reflect light, glass shatters realistically when shot, the barrel of your machine gun will turn red and steam after prolonged fire, there's just so many little touches that make for a great presentation. Unlike many Tom Clancy games, the Division does NOT have realistic combat. There is no "one bullet kills" type of realism, and no emphasis on bullet ballistics. Both the player and enemies have a large health pool. Most bosses can take a full magazine of bullets to the face and keep fighting as though nothing's the matter. While some people will complain about these "bullet sponge" enemies, I felt that overall combat in this game is fun. If you're looking for more realism in your Tom Clancy games, try Wildlands. Combat mostly involves small arms firefights against groups of enemy infantry. While most of the enemies are just guys with assault rifles, a few of them will be specialists that present additional challenges. For example one specialist is a shotgunner that will deal major damage if allowed to get up close. Another specialist is a guy who hides behind a shield which protects him from your bullets, but he is vulnerable to flanking attacks. Many of these bad guy specialists have weak points; hitting the weak point will stun/damage the enemy. The cover-based shooting makes good use of a cover-to-cover movement mechanic. There is also a blind fire attack mechanic which gives reduced accuracy but leaves you less vulnerable to return fire. A big part of the game is unlocking skills. As you progress through the storyline you earn Medical, Security, and Technical skill points which can be spent to upgrade your base of operations. An upgraded base of operations gives you permanent buffs as well as more options for combat optimization. Extra shopkeepers can be unlocked, free loot can be gotten, and most importantly you can invest in your character's skill trees. You can have up to three skills available at a time, and which ones you choose will have a huge impact on how you play. For example, one skill is a "seeker grenade" that, once thrown will actively hunt down the enemy and explode. Another skill is a "support station" that provides constant healing as long as you remain within the area of effect. Skills can be easily switched out; there is no such thing as messing up your character build and having to re-spec your character. Your base of operations starts out as a dilapidated post office, but as you gradually build it up it eventually becomes a high tech base teeming with trained personnel. Awesome! This game has been described as an "RPG" but the storyline is linear with no plot choices to make. The character development of your NPC quest-givers also leaves much to be desired. Your Division boss (Lau) and the Medical supervisor (Kandal) were I guess supposed to be written as assertive leader-types, but instead they just came across as being arrogant jerks. The other two main NPCs in your base (Benitez, Rhodes) have better dialogue but are still mostly forgettable. The game's main antagonist (Keener) is poorly fleshed out and absent for most of the game. It is never adequately explained why Keener's lackeys (the LMB) are actually fighting you. On the plus side, there is a large amount of backstory flavor in the form of audio diaries (cell phones), written situation reports, survival guides, ect. As your character completes missions they earn experience points which lead to level ups with better stats. Each mission you take on will have a recommended level, and I strongly advise that you respect it! Completing a level 20 mission when you are only level 19 is going to be tough. Completing that same mission at level 18 may be outright impossible. But overall for most of the game experience points are plentiful, side quests give good rewards, and there's little incentive to go grinding for XP. Once you've made it to the maximum level (30) and beaten all the main missions you'd probably think the game is over, right? Wrong! The Division is actually only just starting because a slew of end-game content gets unlocked at that point! Completing the main campaign (with side quests) will probably take about 20 hours, but the end-game content can easily occupy you for HUNDREDS of hours of fun! In the end game, since there are no more experience levels, you instead will be looking for classified gear sets and exotic items. These are rare loot drops, and indeed your character progression will slow down considerably. I do feel Borderlands handled late-game character progression better, because you could still level up and put points into your large skill tree, while in the Division by level 30 you've already maxed out your skill trees and levels -- better loot is all there is left to optimize your character with. A brief synopsis of end-game content: *High value targets, which are basically randomized open world quests of variable difficulty. *West Side Piers, a new area that opens up with its own quests. *Underground (paid DLC), a randomized quest line with its own level-up system and unique combat modifiers. *Survival (paid DLC), you're stripped of all gear and must survive both the weather and your enemies. *Last Stand (paid DLC), team-based PvP games. *Daily and Weekly Challenges, replay the main missions under specific conditions for extra rewards. *Incursions, the hardest PvE missions in the game, they must be completed with a group. *Resistance, survive as long as possible against progressively harder waves of bad guys. *Dark Zone, the main PvP area in the game, you can be killed by other players (rogues) but there is also PvE content. You can actually enter the DZ before level 30 but it's probably better to wait until the end game. The Division also contains a crafting system, a weapon recalibration system, and unlockable cosmetics and emotes. There's a bewildering variety of currencies, probably more than any other game I've played (it should've been simplified). The game music is high quality and helps to set the mood. Fighting criminal gangs in a neon-lit Times Square as a blizzard rages and the "Times Square" soundtrack plays is an incredible experience! The Division can be played solo, but I strongly recommend playing it with friends. Up to 4 players can join up together for some great co-op fun! If you're looking for a shoot-and-loot game with great atmosphere and fun co-op, try out The Division!

New Players. If it's not connecting. Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are lazy fucks. They still have the old launcher coupled with the game install. That launcher no longer works. Step 1: Install from steam. Step 2: uninstall uplay Step 3: install connect from the ubisoft website. Step 4: relaunch the game. The new launcher installs to the same path as the old one, so the game will find it just fine.

During launch, I loved the game during PvE Stuff. Once I hit 30 and saw all the hackers and how rough end game was (getting gear) I dropped it like a lead brick 2 years later, patch 1.8 comes. MUCH more playable, bullet sponginess isn't as apparent, builds are more manageable, the hackers aren't TOTALLY gone but FAR fewer in numbers. The Game's actually fun, and I have plenty to do. If you're mad at Destiny 2, this is much much much much more tolerable and engaging.

When The Division was teased for people to get them hyped, the game looked amazing. They promised so much and gave a hell of a show when promoting the game. So we waited. We sat on our hands in order to keep from clapping at the idea of being able to roam around in a world so vast and changing, acquiring loot, meeting friends, and forming expansive teams along the way. The game looked awesome and boasted a lot of things to occupy your time. Then....it released. Graphics were dumbed down. Gameplay was repetitive. There was no guild/clan features. Matchmaking was buggy. Weapon and Gear bonuses and stats were incorrect. The plot of this game shifted from fighting in an environment that was devastated by a virus to more of a giant bug collection where you fumbled and crawled your way through all the pain brought on by the issues in the game just to experience what it was like to level up. And Ubisoft/Massive did little to help. Even now, after rolling out patch 1.2, they have broken more than they fixed. In fact we're all sure that they fixed nothing and uploaded a compiled file of bugs into the game instead. So let's list what we have here. Please read this carefully before you ever consider purchasing....or even playing for free. Pros :: - The Game looks gorgeous - The equipment system is lovely - The personal appearance is pretty entertaining - Static clutter and objects are plenty and not stationary. (Shoot that rat. Smack that lamp) - The sounds are great. The ambience is just intense with headphones, which is good. - There are plenty of missions to choose from for the first 30 hours - The weapon modification system is nice - The gunplay is pretty decent Cons :: (Hold on to your hat) - There are bugs. Bugs everywhere. I mean seriously, this game is made of bugs. - There is no customer service - Patches break a LOT more than they fix - Gameplay is VERY repetitive - NPCs can shoot through walls - Players get locked out of instances - Upon joining a match, there is a high chance you will fall through the map, get teleported out, and fall again. - Graphical bugs left and right. You'll see the poly blocks floating around where fog should be, etc. - The storyline is extremely boring - The game is nothing like the trailers. It has been dumbed down - The content you see from the E3 promotions? Totally inaccurate - The NPCs are all pretty much the same, only some have flamethrowers and some have armor. - The loading screens are EXCESSIVE. Every single thing you do prompts a loading screen. If you join a group from matchmaking, you load for 2 minutes. They can kick you during that 2 minutes. So your load screen resets before you even load in and, what, you're dropped where they SHOULD have been. Then it teleports you back to a safehouse and you load for another 2 minutes. Even for High end PCs, the load times are far too long and there is a sickening amount of things that call for them. - The Matchmaking, frankly, sucks. It will not match you with people within the range of your gear. So if you're trying to gear up, it just tosses you in an open slot. And if that group is geared and they don't like that you're not, you get booted. This makes joining groups for getting into the DZ and missions in order to even get gear HARD. Of course, you get kicked and get to see those neat load screens. - The latency is iffy. I personally run on a fiber connection and the amount of lag that I see is ridiculous. You'll watch people scoot down walls. You'll see yourself teleport several feet from where you took cover. You'll unload 4 complete magazines into an enemy and do no damage only to see the damage pop up on him 20 seconds later after he's killed your teammate. Etc. - The cover system is ALMOST acceptable, but it's not. Having your cover system default to the same button as your roll button is just bad. You'll try to move into cover and roll right past it. Or attept to roll away from a grenade damage zone and take cover instead thus killing you. - A lot of the NPCs are overpowered. This game is punishment if you have to fight a group of NPCs that have shotguns. Not only can they 1 shot you, but they have armor. And they don't take cover and play smart. They RUSH you without regard of their own health. You have to pray that you and your group (if you have one) can kill them before they get close. - The DZ is boring. It's a lot of running around, shooting NPCs to get another level ladder crawling up, hoping you get loot. Then you get it, try to get back to extract it, and bam : some asshole that is leagues above you kills you JUST to kill you. But, the DZ is one of the better places to get gear. Well tough shit. Then again not a lot of people go Rogue since there's no benefit from it. The DZ is just boring. - It's also impossible to get a good DZ group unless you just run into someone in there and they decide to join you. Matchmaking is useless for this. Seeing as you cannot matchmake inside the DZ makes it even more useless. You had best hope you find another lonely soul that doesn't just shoot you on sight. - There is no endgame. Once you hit level 30 and fill out your equipment with Highend equipment....eh. You can go after and hunt the gearsets, but that's really just doing the same mission over and over and over and over and over and over and hoping that if something drops it's not the EXACT SAME THING you already have. Besides that you get a couple of dailies. Once you complete those (About 15 minutes) you're too bored to continue playing. - There is no clan/guild system. You can't do something as basic as create a clan/guild name, invite friends, and have a system to talk to people when in game. Oh no. you have to relay your conversations through Uplay IF you can meet anyone that plays in game....because, really, the game is pretty much dead. - Lastly for my list is that Ubisoft/Massive doesn't care. They promoted this game. They promised so much. They have so many resources available to make this an amazing experience...but they don't. Bugs that are gamebreaking are left in the game. Right now if you join a group, your UI doubles and you can't use it. This has led to people losing items. Gear. Skills being changed mid fight and wiping a group, etc. Where is the company? Where is the customer support? They're nowhere to be found because they have the money and that's the end of it. This is an example of a DECENT enough game that's good for wasting time, if you're bored and have nothing better to do, that could have been great. Ubisoft/Massive failed this title. They got everyones hopes up, sold the game, and backed off. When other games do this, they get taken down from Steam and there is a widespread refund spree, but not in this case. People are still PRAYING that it gets as good as it should be and hold on by the skin of their teeth...but it won't. It's like they have 5 people who work on this title...2 days a week...for a few hours...and only if they want to. They let the community down. They let the Tom Clancy name down. They let every single person who spent $60 on this game down. And not because they didn't give us a decent platform to start with...but because once they realized they messed up they quit caring about it and us. The Divison has been broken since day one. Almost everything they promised they removed. It's not as lush, vibrant, and expansive as they promised it was. We got the Bait and Switch. Now it's struggling to maintain an 8000 playerbase. So before you spend your hard earned money on this title...just don't. This is the game that COULD HAVE BEEN amazing, but it wasn't. This is the game that robbed us of our enthusiasm. This is the game that is dying a very sad and lonely death. You can argue that if you get an hour playtime for every dollar that you spent on a game makes it worth the money, but it doesn't. At 70+ hours, I saw all this game had to offer and am just..disappointed.

First review. Will try to say as much as I can with about the good and bad things in this game. This is personally my most favorite game of all time and it will continue to be for a long time. It's what I've wanted and what some others have wanted: RPG Shooter The Gameplay: While you may hear bad things about the gameplay (ie. The Dark Zone and Hacker) I have personally never encountered any hackers while in the Dark Zone. Either I'm lucky or just have great timing on when they aren't on. I play more PVE than I do PVP and so we will start there. PVE Pros: The game is intense once you get to your max levels. You slowly start to figure out how to run the show of fights and it can get crazy. Co-op makes this game super fun with friends and it makes everything much harder as it should. I love the mechanics of the game and the diversity of class have been even better after the updates to the game. Variety is great in this game and allows you to have class rolls in groups, something the game really didnt have in the beginning. PVE Cons: Single player can be boring. Going out on your own to level up to 30 and grind from there can take some time and by that time you might wanna just go play another game. Its sad to say that some of these big fun things I talk about require the DLC to experience. While free updates have been fun, some of the stuff is locked behind the paywall. Bullet sponge is another thing. While its not a bad design, its definitely not a good design as it effects the Bosses. The Bosses are literally just bullet sponges. They have little-to-no design to them and are just a bigger enemy with a ton more health. No uniqueness between the bosses can be a killer to some people since it also gets boring fighting sponges for sooooo long. Raids are the same way. Constant enemies of the same thing that spam the same abilities are very aggravating as you feel like you have no way to deal with these enemies enough even though you have the best gear. PVE Overall: This game is fun with friends and can make for some great moments with them. I've always played with friends with a little alone time here and there. However, you have to love the game to play it alone for so long. It may get boring for people who don't like the grindyness of this game. I'd give this a C+ PVP: I believe other reviews will tell you more about this part since I've never had problems with PVP before. DLC: This is some of the most fun DLC I've played in a long time. Constantly be able to play in the Underground DLC and always have a great time playing on randomly generated maps makes it refreshing each time. Plus there is some funny bugs you can find in the maps that make for some great moments. Its the one DLC I can say I have some fun time playing alone since its a challenge each time. Survival DLC: It's exactly as the DLC says. Survive to escape. This really brings you to the harsh weather of New York and this is by far their best DLC. I've played this so much because the PVP in Survive is something I love. It's like H1Z1 but everything you find you keep as long as you escape with it. This DLC is the reason I keep coming back to the game. DLC Overall: Very fun but in the end, Its behind a paywall. You should know what this means. I think it's absolutely worth the money for all that it gives you. Game Overall: I will never stop playing this game as it's what I've been looking for for so long. I recommend this game for everyone thats wanted a Shooter RPG style game. See you out on the streets of New York. Max, out.
