  I find it funny that the negative reviews complain about the difficulty, but in the trailer the announcer calls this a "herculean undertaking." To some, I guess that means you're supposed to be handed a victory, and those are the people giving the thumbs down.

  The best map I have played so far. It is beautiful and challenging, music is great. The only annoyance is damn indistructable and immoveable branches on the road here and there. There certainly should be some mechanic to get rid of them. Like pull them out with crane or winch ot something.

  I thought people were kidding about how hard it is but you cannot enjoy this with vanilla trucks. Its not fun or even hard its frustrating. Im 3 hours into one mission and not even close to finishing and i have maxed trucks at level 25 atm. Edit: Now im finding out that the devs actually went back and made it harder to t to the Zikz after the entail release by blocking paths.....I regret buying this dlc.

  When I exited the garage on the first map for this and drove around a little I said, "Uh-huh. Gratuitous rocks to get stuck on. Frozen lakes to drive over. Yadda yadda Kola Peninsula. I did that already." Then I found there were bridges to fix, "So I said, blah blah blah." I liked the Kola Peninsula for the challenge, so I plugged away a little more. I only started to appreciate the play value of this when I saw that there are lots of problems to solve, a lot of it sort of like a spatial puzzle. About 20 minutes into the first map you realize that fixing those bridges is going to require a lot of figuring out a way to get the materials. You have to find alternate routes or your main routes won't be available to you later. I enjoy a good puzzle so I think this is worth the effort. For me, the "pointless" aspect, as was with the Kola Peninsula, are the gratuitous rocks. The rocks get old really fast. It's also worthwhile to pick up the upgrades and get the other treasure that comes with the DLC. However, the main attraction for me is the difficulty with completing tasks.

  Clearly these levels were made by a level designer going through a messy divorce. I can picture him now repeating the mantra "I'll hurt them the way she hurt me". It's quite difficult and recommended only to veteran Snowrunner players - it can get quite frustrating at times and helps if you've got a good stable of trucks with top upgrades for some trial-and-error. I would downvote it on difficulty alone but that would be silly - there's nothing inherently wrong with it visually/mechanically - it's just very, very difficult. Be prepared to have a bag of glass on hand to munch on as you snail-crawl through feet of soft snow.

  "Fun and challenging" my ass. Endless frustration and can barely accomplish anything with the best trucks even. Chained tires are only good for icy roads but nothing else, they are literally the worst tires to have in snow along with highway tires -which is funny since chained tires are used to traverse deep snow in real life- And get prepared to meet deep snow with mud and cracking ice covered with snow, your chained tires wont save you there, but surprise, because after hundreds of meters of deep snow and mud you gonna meet an icy slope a very funny map designer put there, and if you are using any kind of tires except chained, prepared to be trolled very hard. And I F you got chained tires because of that- well, you gonna get stuck in about 10 seconds once the paved icy road ends. Very "fun" when you get stuck in 15 cm deep snow with the best mudtires in the game. And I honestly feel sorry for all of you who thinks this region is any good.

  I waste 4 hours of my life to get to the fucking steel mill and the one place that is fucking supposed to have steel beams does not have ANY at all. Not wasting any more time with this pack. even for the ZIKZ

  I give this DLC a 5/10. I really want to rate it higher since the locations are interesting and the new vehicles are great and there's a lot of content, but there's just so much bad map design that it really sucks a lot of fun out of the game. Compared to season 1, the maps aren't nearly as visually impressive with the auroras at night and the desolate, beautiful wilderness, but there's a lot of interesting locations to visit related to the old rocket launch site which still makes them interesting to explore. The new trucks are great, especially the familiar Zikz (D-537 from mudrunner, real life MAZ). Depending on the addons it can do just about anything (including scouting with the roof rack and fuel tank) except pull a low saddle trailer. It does feel a bit scummy in the sense that what makes the truck so great is the addon flexibility. The base game Kolob could easily be just as great if it had the same addons, but instead of upgrading that truck the devs added a new one behind a DLC paywall to address its shortcomings. Unfortunately the elephant in the room for this DLC is the truly awful map design. The starting area is abysmal, it's so unrealistically bad that it makes zero sense as a starting location. There are no good roads from the garage to anywhere and it's hard to imagine they were ever good roads with how the devs portray them, and they can't be fixed. The first part of the DLC is a frustrating slog to get out of the starting hellscape where things get a little better as the garage in the second area at least has somewhat more sensible road access, but the roads are still bad enough that getting around the map always feels like a slog. I really wanted to like this DLC, especially with the large amount of content and the space theme, but honestly it was largely just not fun to play (until I modded the game to make all trucks more capable with better tires, engines, transmissions and winches, removed the awful loose rocks, and made trees/stumps destructible). I can recommend this for the trucks, but otherwise I would recommend spending your time on less frustrating maps and/or using OP trucks to overcome the dev's trolling. Overall not recommended because the map design is truly awful and you can get mod trucks that fill the role of the Zikz and other vehicles.

  As most people have already stated, this map is incredibly frustrating. It's not necessarily hard, but so slow. If you thought the infrastructure on the Kola Peninsula did not make any sense prepare to witness this. While the vehicles are fine, the map certainly is not. Without top tier vehicles you cannot proceed. Hope you enjoy Northern Aegis Installation.
