  I purchased this DLC thinking it would be the same as the base game, in that you could play PC or VR; it turned out that you can only play the Asylum DLC in VR. It makes no sense that the DLC should be VR only when the base game can be played either way.

  If you've played the base game, it's basically more of that in all its janky glory (though surprisingly somewhat less janky than the base game). I played both in VR so can't speak to the PC/2D version. Just more of a cohesive sequence. I played it all in one sitting, maybe an hour or so. Definitely feels like a much shorter, very 'budget', VR version of Outlast 1. The jankiness makes it both more and less scary. Less cause it's easier to just laugh it off, but also more cause in VR the sounds seem to come from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Lots of random women screaming that sounds very close, but it's coming from inside walls/there's no one actually there. One way to keep you on your toes I suppose. [spoiler] During the ending "boss fight", just after you save the girl and go out to the front lawn, the girl ended up straight up dying. You just have to spam the two bosses with the taser until they go down, at first I wondered if I was doing it wrong. Luckily the game didn't seem to give a shit that the entire thing was pointless after her death and I "won" anyway. [/spoiler]

  So I wasn't sure if I should give this a positive or negative review, consider this a neutral recommendation. If you liked the base game, this is more of the same. I want to say I completed the whole thing in about 20 minutes give or take. It's a walking horror simulator. You walk from point A to point B and lot's of creepy stuff happens. The only interactions are finding objects, using your flashlight, or using your taser. The whole thing is very janky (like the main game). It's cheap, so I can at least give a neutral recommendation. However, the last part is very annoying with having to tase them several times. It doesn't matter if you save the girl or not either. [b]Rate 5/10.[/b]

  More of the same amusing but charming jank as the main game, but definitely harder. Mostly because while you can get through 90% of the DLC without combat (you only get a taser towards the very end), the last 10% requires combat, and this is a problem as being that you're using a taser, you have to reload after every shot, and it takes time. There's a final boss fight but it's not as harder as the four nurses that swoop you as soon as you rescue the girl (Dr. Crazoid goes down in two shots, his girl in one.) The girl you rescue can apparently die, but you can beat the DLC even if she does.
