  Note: this is basically a boss rush game, with little segments of regular enemies (think Alien Soldier). The good parts: <*>Nice blend of NES style of backgrounds and Master System palette. <*>Boss design is very good, although it requires some trial and error until you figure out the optimal strategy. <*>Sub-weapons and core gameplay (movement, slash, dodge) are all very well-balanced and fun to use. <*>Music is great. The bad parts: <*>Sound effects are really jarring, especially the lightning power up and the screen clear scroll. They should honestly be replaced. <*>There is part of the ending epilogue that is not translated into English (please fix <3) <*>I would have appreciated some sort of post-game unlock, like being able to play as one of the two other ninja characters you encounter. As it is right now, once you beat the game, that's basically it. Overall, I recommend it if retro ninja boss rush games are up your alley, but if you're unsure, you might want to wait for a sale of like 30%.

  What happens when you blend Ninja Spirit with Alien Soldier? You get Shinobi non Grata! + Really strong pixel art and graphical effects. Parallax Scrolling, multi-joint sprites, and just tons of other effects in general at every turn. + Running and slashing combined make for high speed action. Also all sub weapons have their uses and are available at all times. Once you learn the stages you rarely have to stop moving outside of a boss fight. + Bosses, lots of bosses! It is essentially a Boss Rush game (Think Alien Soldier) with some short side scrolling segments to break things up. + Strong presentation and set pieces throughout. Running through grassy fields, storming a zombified town, fighting while scaling waterfalls, lots to see here. + Solid chiptune OST, stage 3 my favorite among them. + Just enough levels to make it fun to 1CC/Score attempt. Suggestions -Would have been cool to have some type of extra content like a new game plus online Leaderboards. -Stage Select or Boss Rush -Playable Tsumuji and/or Agito would be fun. All in all had lots of fun! Looks, plays and sounds nice. I do think at the very least a stage select or boss rush mode should be attempted, but that aside don't sleep on this game!

  Such a fun and engaging game. Holy shit it's simple and effective. Just finished the game and I'm probably play some again just to get a hgihscore. Don't let the simple graphics fool you it's a really good game! Just a nitpick, the story would be better told if it didn't had that typing effect, or if the text appeared on screen faster.

  Short, difficult, but hella fun. I owned IREM's Ninja Spirit on the TurboGrafx16 as a kid, and definitely brought back memories to that. If you like those types of games, you'll like this

  Shinobi Non Grata is an enjoyable retro platformer / boss rush game but its short length means it will mostly appeal to those who are into scoring or self imposed challenges. It has a handful of levels, each containing three bosses and platforming / run'n gun sections inbetween them. The game's difficulty is high but never insurmountable, and part of the appeal is figuring out which of your special weapons is most suited for each fight. If you've played any of the classic Megaman games this is pretty similar.

  Good game! Some of the boss mechanics are really annoying and were a mood-killer for me, but that aside, I had a lot of fun. The MC feels great to control, there's a decent variety of enemies that are fun to fight, and most of the time, the difficulty balance is just right. That said, even if you die a lot, you can beat the game within a few hours, and there isn't really anything in the way of replay value, so keep that in mind when evaluating whether it's worth the asking price. I'd give this a solid 4/5 stars.
