  Was scrolling through my oldest games and totally forgot about this one. I guess when my last pc slowly descented into potato, I couldn't play stuff like this anymore. Man I wish my buddy Theo was still around. He got me into this. F for my fallen gamer bff.

[b] Is this actually still an NFS? Not really, right? ...[/b] After some bad classic NFS games, EA thought they could try something different, something new. In principle, the idea behind it isn't wrong, because things didn't really work out that well with the arcade racers. [b]Does that work considering Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo, which are both very good and established games?[/b] Shift is definitely more demanding than previous NFS games. No question at all. After all, it's a racing simulation and not an arcade racer. Basically, the control of the cars is really good, I just find that the cars sometimes swerve too quickly and the controls are very sensitive, especially when drifting. Of course, there are various driving aids available that you can switch on and off and the game offers an enormous number of setting options for the vehicle properties. In addition to the tuning options, fine adjustments such as tire pressure, chassis, steering angle or gear ratio offer a number of individual options for adapting the car to the driving style or the track characteristics. The career mode has a relatively classic structure and also offers a good variety with the manufacturer competitions, duels, tests and tournaments [b]Not a bad game at all if you like racing simulations, but I think, also because of the age, the game is long outdated and if you like playing racing simulations, you will rather choose another game.[/b] The game currently costs around $15 +/- which, in my opinion, is simply too expensive and it is no longer offered on Steam.   Removed from store because? Oh yea, because EA sucks. Crap company good game. Make your hands dirty on piratebay, they do not want your money.

  This game is one of my all time favorite racing games. Unfortunately, EA will be damned for removing it from the Steam store. EA, stop being a fucking greedy low-skill company and do something about your services and products.

  A good balance between a racing sim and arcade. Need for Speed Shift is all about racing on a racetrack, and fighting through the pack to place in the Top 3. There is also drift mode, where you score the most combined points in three rounds to win. The driving physics are decent, not too bad, but not great either. There are a good selection of cars that you can own (although it sucks that you can only buy 1 unit of each car) and a range of real world tracks (Nurburgring, Spa, Silverstone, etc.). Those make a pretty good legal racing game. The annoying thing is cheap AI in car battle mode, especially in Autopolis GP. They can just tackle a tight hairpin (turn 4) at 100+ km/h without understeering... Also, there are some unfair car battle matchups, when 1 car is a lot faster than the other (Audi R8 vs Aston Martin V8 Vantage for example) and no matter how good your driving is, you'll still lose in the slower car (unless you play dirty). Overall, it is still a good racing game to play if you are looking for a mixture of simulation and arcadey style of racing.
