  The initial stages of the game are great, but the late game falls flat (as can be expected with Early Access games) At first, it's a lot of fun trying to build up your gaming company and trying to keep out of the red. Do you grab that highly skilled worker with the high salary or limit yourself now? Do you NEED the extra space by spending millions on that new building or can you play Tetris in the building you have now and squeeze in another worker or two? The random events also make things interesting early on; a hit to the Hype of your game can make or break it without a Marketing department and if the market suffers a video game crash, you might have to slow down your company expansion until things settle again. But then... you earn enough to buy out a competitor and own your own subsidiary that produces games for you. You release game after game with your top-notch development team. Manufacture GOTY and Platinum editions of your most popular IPs. Sell fan merchandise. MMOs that will keep earning you money as long as you keep adding expansions. Dominate the console wars.... soon enough you have $4 billion and nothing to really spend it on. The gameplay is addictive and I want to keep playing, but there's not much to do in the endgame. There doesn't seem to be any risk in buying a subsidiary or shutting it down, you can't add a second story to your buildings or move to a bigger campus, and your researchers will eventually research everything. As it is, once you cross a certain threshold, it feels like you've enabled Sandbox mode. Maybe adding a few "soft" victory conditions might encourage players to start a new game (with the option of continuing) rather than continuing to snowball. Perhaps a Scenario mode, too, would encourage replayability. There also needs to be a few tweaks, I think, to Research Teams. Once they've researched everything there is to research, they just kind of sit there until the next feature becomes available to research. You never feel like you can get "ahead" of your competitors because everything releases by date for research. I think it would be interesting if the Researchers could "Experiment" in their downtime and have a small chance to unlock a future tech early. I'd imagine it would work similarly to the Marketing team's Employee Search. Fund the research team more, get a higher chance that they'll find something earlier than your competitors, if you're willing to pay the cost. There should also be some generic placeholders for "Future Tech" like there is in Civilization so you can continue to improve your games and consoles. Overall, a good game that has a lot of potential to be great.

  When I was a kid, a game came out called Big Biz Tycoon where you ran a business of almost any kind you wanted. One of the types was to produce video games, but since the game was more about managing a business there was zero difference between making a game and making weapons for the army, they were just projects to put people to work on. That didn't stop me from stretching it's features to the limit trying to enjoy a tycoon about game making. Years later Game Dev Tycoon came out. It was a fun game, I enjoyed the walk through of the history of gaming. But I felt that so much of the interesting things about game development were missing from it, and you were so limited in the size of the company you could form and the options you had on designing games, releasing games, etc.. It almost felt more like an arcade-style sim than a real tycoon game. It was good, but it wasn't quite there. Then years later I ran into this. This is without a doubt the best Game Company Simulator I have ever played. At first, and on the surface, it feels like Game Dev Tycoon with different graphics. Then you realize you can get WAY more than 6 employees, and you can create departments to focus on testing, research, graphics, sound design, etc.. Then you start to unlock all the nuanced ways to publish your games. GDT only let you do sequels (and that research was unlocked so late in the history of games that it felt really weird). In this you can remaster, you can republish Game of the Year editions, and Silver editions (yeah, who else remembers those). You can bundle games together in a .... bundle to republish (yeah, I remember those days, Star Trek Armadas 1 and 2 and some Voyager game with it's expansion, great way to get introduced to games you had no interest in). The type of marketing you can do feels right, everything from releasing beta demos before a game comes out to drum up hype all the way to publishing fake reviews that might have backlash if people trace it back to your scummy company. You can buy other companies and make them subsidiaries. You can develop games for consoles you haven't released yet, and put them on hold to give your console "launch titles" for the big release. And that's not even going into the actual game design part that feels a lot more fleshed out than any other Game Dev Simulator I've ever played. Is it perfect? Not yet, but it's early access and it's pretty dang close in my opinion. And they keep releasing new content regularly right now. I'm very impressed with this game, I'm impressed with the developers' continued work on it, and I keep looking forward to each update as it comes. Though to be honest if the updates stopped right now I wouldn't complain. Its a great game as is. 10/10 would buy again. Side note: there is a multiplayer where I guess your friends can play as rival companies but I haven't tried it so I can't say anything about that.

  Thanks to this game I was able to: - Have the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive win the 16-bit console war - Save the Sega Saturn - Hire Nobuo Uematsu as my composer - Ensure the Wizardry series received many more sequels and spin-offs 11/10 would play again

  There is a lot good about this game which I enjoy, however ironically there is a giant design oversight. You must become a large studio, screw you how you might want to play, if you don't grow, even if you have the most talented people, the best software, or game designs, you will not succeed. You need to have hundreds of employees since quality is based on the higher number amount.

  I picked this game up as a bit of a time waster game. Having played pretty much all of the game company tycoon style games I really wasn't expecting much. They are mostly copies of each other. I WAS WRONG. The first thing I did and I strongly recommend to anyone buying this game. Download REALISM MODE, a mod posted in the steam guides for Mad Games Tycoon 2. It adds a whole new layer of fun to this game as you see all of the brand names you love appear in the game. This game has so much depth to it compared to the competitors in the genre. They have really thought of everything. There is enough complexity to keep the game interesting, but enough ability to hand off tasks to not make the game kill you with micro management. You can create games in pretty much every genre you can think of. There are hundreds of game topics to pick from with their own synergies. You can create MMOs, or free to play games with micro transactions. You can create mobile games, remastered games, GOTY Edition games. You can trade IPs with other companies allowing you to buy the rights to games they create (or sell yours). You can carry out market research, design, manufacture and sell consoles and battle for market share against competitors. You can buy developer studios or publishers and have them produce games and split the revenue with you. You can become a publisher yourself and take on contracts for other game companies. Honestly the game is great.
