  It doesn't seem we will ever see a sequel, which is a shame considering how advanced this game was for its time. Even by today's standards it is a very enjoyable grand-strategy title and features some of the best diplomacy in the genre. Sending a spy to infilitrate an opposing faction and watching him seize their lands for you, only to find out he has claimed the lands for himself and has usurped you, is just a taste of the possibilities the campaign gives you. Highly recommended and I would love to see features from this game introduced and evolved in future TW titles.

  I'll keep it simple, this game is one of the best strategy games I've ever played, it manages to find a perfect balance between RTS and Grand Strategy, I'd put it like this: a beautiful mixture between Age of Empires' action mechanics and Crusader Kings' strategy and diplomacy depth. It manages to hit Just the right amount of planning/managing and the right amount of control over the execution to make it a really fun and fluid experience that should satisfy players of both genres. I don't know how I spent so many years not knowing this game when it was all I ever wanted from a strategy game, this game should a lot better known, if you see it on sale give it a chance, you won't regret it.

  Pros: - Addicting (especially when watching your borders expand) - Lots of units and buildings - Well made (for the time it came out) - Fun to control the Pope, assassinate Kings, and convert province's religions - Family lineage actually feels like a lineage - Almost completely geographically historically accurate Cons: - Game is too easy - Diplomacy isn't anything to write home about Would absolutely recommend though to anyone looking for a good border expansion game but doesn't want to sit and learn a whole ecosystem of mechanics. Can easily pick up and play.

  This game is an absolute beast! You play as an empire/kingdom/duchy and try to expand through war or diplomacy. Think about Medieval total war but both the campaign map and the battles are played in real time. The soundtrack is very good too. Played this to death in middle school :D

  Before I start, I want to mention one thing: this negative review is not about the game itself. Knights of Honor is a great RTS game, and you should definetly play it. My problem stems from the fact that this game is a prime example of a developer being lazy and just dumping the original game, unpatched and unoptimized to Steam for a price that seems very steep, considering the performance quality of this game. To first start off, this game's major fault is the fact that it cannot boot into its default resolution properly. No matter what you do, it will only show 3/4s of the image (in some cases, the game will also force your monitor resolution to 640x480) that can only be fixed via the HD patch. The main issue with the HD patch is that for some people, it will not work. I have had friends who purchased this game and were unable to get the patch running, leaving them with a game that was a waste of money and time. The game also still has a major issue that I've experienced even on an old XP machine as a kid with an original (now lost) disc copy; Random crashes. These seemingly have no real trigger, they will happen often after 1-2 hours of play, and while not annoying due to the ability to set frequent autosaving, preventing loss of progress, its insulting that this issue still persists years later, with the developers never addressing it or releasing a patch. Overall, I don't recommend the game due to the aforementioned HD patch issue some people I know have had, otherwise if you're lucky enough to get it working, it is possibly one of the most addicting strategies out there.

  I remember buying the retail version of this game while fucked out of my mind on drugs back when it released. Knights of Honor somehow managed to breach the curtain wall of addiction, grab me by the torn collar of my filthy shirt, and hammer me with the gauntleted fist of fun. It brought me back to the dawn of my love of video games, when I was younger and life was simpler. Whenever I think of KoH, I think of that moment in my dark apartment room, dusted with cigarette ash and buried in pill bottles and bags of weed and empty beer cans, playing this game on my shitty laptop and feeling, for the first time in years, like life wasn't so bad. Not if games like this were there to keep me company. Superb title, immense fun. Knights of Honor welcomes you, sire.

  Conquer half of Europe, highly develop your cities' defences, King dies without having any offspring, 95% of your provinces gain independence... break your keyboard in half... Other than that my favorite strategy game of all time. Remember kids, save frequently!

  It is old, but its beautiful 2d graphics stand the test of times, unlike so many 2000's games that made the switch to full 3d. Knights of Honor strikes a beautiful balance between simplicity, and grand strategy. The battles are fun, managing the empire is engrossing, the political mechanics are enjoyable. This really is a good game. Because everything is done in real-time (pausing is allowed and quite necessary), you get a feel of urgency, and that "one more turn" drive so common to the genre turns into "when I construct a fortress here" or "I'll just conquer this providence." One of the biggest pluses in my book is that once you make the initial purchase, there won't be $300 of dlc to buy. You know you have the full game. Also, community members on modb have extended the graphics to modern widescreen systems and constructed an easy to handle launcher that you can use to tweak the AI and up the number of units. It frequently goes on sale for $2.49. You really can't go wrong here, especially if you're just venturing into the 4x genre.
