  EDIT 3: LOL! I can't believe I am updating my review months later, but I hear and see that this game has been abandoned for many many months, with many glaring issues and bugs going unaddressed. Not surprised at all. This edit is A WARNING for any potential customers. See the behavior of the staff and the fact that the game has been abandoned for months, and proceed with caution. EDIT 2: I commented on a post from another user on the discussions, it was deleted, and then when I replied again to state how they deleted my post, I was banned. What a joke. PLEASE NOTE this means I cannot respond to any new comments written on my review since the ban, as they have banned me from doing so. Pretty funny how one of the "developer responses" to a review here from you know who was edited to remove what they had previously written, as it was poorly received by numerous users in the comments of that review. This was done by, you guessed it.... Penta. Penta claimed I was spreading misinformation, "steering" up drama, and spinning my own narrative on Discord, LOL. I guess asking about DRM removal is spinning a narrative, eh? The only person spreading misinformation and spinning narratives here is you, buddy. It's easy to say things when you ban people and prevent them from defending themselves, and edit your responses to reviews on Steam. Truly sad, unprofessional, disgusting behavior. EDIT FOR CLARITY: Negative review for: Hidden DRM, extremely high increase in CPU usage from simply running the game at the main menu and performance drops on system using 10700K + 3080 + 16GB RAM, incredibly poor treatment from staff when asking fair and inoffensive questions Banned from Discord for asking about DRM. Highly highly avoid this title until the "publisher" Penta is no longer responding to people asking fair questions in polite and calm manners. I was calm and respectful when I asked about it, and received a response from Penta (the publisher) stating that there was no news as the first update was still in the pipeline. I clarified myself to state that the first update has already launched, so I would like to know if there was another news since his prior response was no longer applicable. He copy+pasted the response. We got into a back-and-forth, he started becoming disrespectful and demeaning, and he was entirely concerned with how "I must be someone from the Steamforums" just because I had a fair question pertaining to DRM. Heads up Penta, because I know you're going to read this review and probably respond to it: Steam reviews are not the same thing as the forums. You are too worried about how everyone is planning things against you. You should be more focused on not doing such a disservice to the developers of this game (as you claim to be a publisher, not a dev), as your consistent attitude and poor treatment of your customers is what is putting off so many customers from purchasing and/or refunding this title. I was going to happily await the removal of DRM before I started to play, but after being banned from the Discord for simply asking about it, that isn't going to happen.

  Update: The developer stated that the DRM would be removed for the EA period. Other than that, I cannot comment: I'm neither for nor against DRM, I simply don't like when undisclosed software makes secure connections to third-party servers from my machine. Original review: Additional DRM layer that is mentioned nowhere is included on day 1 of Early Access. That's how I like it. To check it yourself, try installing the game on a clean machine, but block the network access for the game process.   I see potential in this game if the devs don't abandon their project and keep polishing it until it is fully complete. To speak for its current state, it's alright-ish. The main reason I got the game is because it reminds of the days I used to play GTA 2 when I was a kid. I hope devs keep supporting their game and improve it in the future.

  Sadly, I can't recommend this right now. I'm a huge fan of the genre. 20 years ago I spent hundreds of hours playing GTA1 and GTA2. I like the core concept. I appreciate the idea of bringing it into a cyberpunk setting. But the performance issues are absolutely crippling. I couldn't enjoy the game. Once they are fixed I'll be back to play more and update my review.

  GTA2 clone with terrible driving. Pros: • Looks and feels like GTA2 in almost every aspect • Additional cyberpunk elements • Some refreshing elements for GTA2 fans like: mouse targeting, diagonal roads, suburban areas, inventory system etc. Cons: • There is something really wrong with vehicle driving, which makes it MUCH harder and MUCH less satisfying, than original GTA2. I'm not sure what, though... Perhaps cars are too bouncy? Or too "slippery"? Or too light? • No tutorial whatsoever. If it exist - it's not visible enough. I played first Raven mission, and it took me 3 tries to figure out, that I need to hack the doors to enter the area. I also still don't know how to change weapons. • Messy minimap with to many icons at once. • It seems I can't play mission after mission for one faction only. After finally beating first Raven mission I was forced to go to Megacrop, apologize and take mission from them to kill some Hackers. And after doing that... new mission was unlocked from the Hackers? Wat? • Original GTA2 had dusk mode and afternoon mode with different lighting. I think, that would be a nice touch. Or at least day and night cycle. Orienting in the darkness is atmospheric, but also tiring and confusing. But the most important thing is still the driving. I remember playing tens of hours in GTA1 and GTA2 and just racing with police, with agile-drifts and sharp turning. Here in Glitchpunk the car is just not listening to me! Especially during front-back-front-back maneuvers. The car is just dancing, bouncing and twirling! It reminds me those pesky RC-mini-cars from GTA1 kill frenzies. @Devs If you read this: PLEASE confirm you're at least aware of those driving problems and that you're working to fix them. I really want to give chance to this game, but at this point it's just annoying.

  If you think about spending money on this - DONT At this point game is just unplayable yet. Performance are so poor I couldn't control anything - basic movements make character stuck in one direction, esc to open main menu can't do it consistently. Graphics by default is setup to ultra, but all I can see is blurred stuff all over. It's not nearly similar to the gameplay trailer. It just ate all my RAM for nothing. I was able to play initial launch Cyberpunk on my device and had less performance issues than this. UI scale looks like it for 1024x768 as well as font scale. On initial dialog it's make character pop up in the middle of the screen and then you forced to read 200x200 box with text. YOU NEED TO SCROLL TEXT IN IT. Dude, I can place 4 such boxes side by side and 6 top to bottom. Why don't you just take half of my screen in both dimensions? Edit: I've expeted devs to fix performance issues with nearest patch, but they fixed only dialogue windows layouts, so I've requested a refund. Steam support basically sent me GTFO 'coz two weeks are over and I can suck a** of this abomination.

  I really want to like this game, but it's hard. Technical difficulties aside (choppy frame rates), I spent most of my time in game trying to find npcs to kill, so I could have enough money to buy ammo or guns to run a mission. NPCs are ridiculously hard to find. so 1.8 of my 1.9 hours was spent running around an empty map just to get enough money for a basic weapon. **Edit** Came back a couple months later. If you treat it like a bullet hell, it's a bit more enjoyable. But... eehhhh. The balance of everything still seems off. Police bounty cooldowns are staggeringly long and ridiculously easy to attain. I went for a smoke while the game ran, came back and still had a bounty. It's been three months, and I can't find any dev news on updates. This game may never leave early access.

  I am very sad to say that I cannot recommend this game in it's current condition. > Game is badly optimised and runs poorly > Resolution just seems off and textures poor quality > Police respawn just off camera and shaking the police seems near impossible > Story not engaging > Radio mostly talk radio and quite annoying I really hope it improves and I'll probably pick it up again on full release once these issues are resolved.

  It is bad, in the sense that the controls seem to be extremely counter-intuitive. I cant even drive a car in a straight line. They promised chaos. They delivered chaos. But not in a good way. There is no way I can make this game work for me. The controls are a dealbreaker.

  I really wanted to play this game, and after a full rebuild with way overpowered everything, i saw this released and was all in. This game was literally going to destroy my pc. It kept overheating and powering completely off. Feeling the case, it was hot. So I tested several other games that all ran at 35 to 40c, but when i booted up glitchpunk they immediately spiked to 50, and kept climbing. I wasnt even in game yet, just the start menu. Maaaybe one minute later i watched as my gpu was running at 98% and 60c, i tapped out and exited. I'm sure i was crashing at like 70+ as some other support posts talk about 75c temps. Really a pity though, in contradiction to many other reviews, i found the gameplay to be amazing, I love it. I even played the demo for like 6+ hours a few months back, couldnt make it past about 10 minutes without a crash now. Great game idea, unfortunately this is a pretty, but poorly built car that wont make it down the block.
