First thing, you need a pretty decent pc to play this on highest quality, bringing out its full potential. One thing I sadly don't have ;-(. I played on medium quality and it still looked gorgeous though! The game is about 30-40min long if you make a quick run. Around an hour if you take the time to look around or even longer if you really want to explore all the edges of the map. Your being accompanied by a female voice speaking to you from time to time to endure the story. As for the music, it fits but it doesn't play all the time. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, The tune sort of builds up getting a bit more intensive every time you arrive at a checkpoint. Conclusion, if you like walking around beautiful mountains and have a good pc definetly a taker! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ml48NgR1L4Y&list=UU8U7EeDp3URcg2X48-UFnjw (first 5 minutes of game)

Drizzlepath is a pure walking simulator with great atmosphere and changing environment as you progress farther. It’s a very short experience accompanied by nice sounds and narration. There is nothing to discover / explore, just the beautiful landscape.

Drizzlepath is a very detailed walking simulator. You don't do anything more than walking, relaxing and exploring the unknown. While walking the drizzlepath you will be accompanied by a female voice and guitar music. Sadly I found it hard to follow the female voice, and I had no idea what she was talking about. I was rather listening to the relaxing guitar music or the sounds of nature that were so fitting to the scenery. You will see stunning sights along the way, That are perfect for making beautiful screenshots. While at the beginning it looked so beautiful and detailed, further in game the weather got worse and everything became dark and it suddenly seemed rushed to me. I got bored quickly and the game is only around 30 minutes long.

Walk. Listen. Walk up the drizzle path, listen to the heavily accented female voice tell you hard to understand poetic prose (no subtitles), listen to guitar music. If it takes an hour, that's alot - it took me less. Jump once or more, if you like. Cryengine or not, it wasn't immersive. It wasn't thought-provoking. I don't even know what part of the world this mountain is modeled after, the Andes? but it's a mostly linear path, with visible and invisble walls (try swimming anyplace) and some surreal objects sprinkled around. I couldn't make sense of it and, by the end, was glad that it was over. Since the narration is just soundbites and music triggered at certain points along the path, and since it bears little relation to your actual surroundings, no amount of exploration was able to help me make more sense of it. The game lagged a bit on my system. It generated an error log 20 MB in size consisting mostly of bbox errors, which reeks of shoddy modeling. There's a German localization .pak, but I found no way to actually activate it - there aren't any in-game options nor can be done via Steam. I do love exploration, but a picture book of the Andes or some other mountain paths plus a bit of good guitar music would have served me better. I recommend this for 0.99 or less if you like the soundtrack (check the trailer), it is included with the game.

This was a very pretty game. Really quite beautiful at times, although at other times, the scenery was somewhat washed out. Strange disparity there. The music was fantastic. I would definitely buy an OST for this game. Lots of kick ass guitar tracks and some other cool piano and orchestral pieces as well (and even a harmonica piece at one point). For me, that was actually the highlight of the game even though, as mentioned before, it was also quite visually appealing. Sadly, the dialogue was sort of drowned out at times by the music and the narrators accent was so thick that it was often difficult to tell exactly what she was saying even when you could hear her voice clearly. I could have done without it as, for the most part, I really couldn't tell you what she was really talking about. Fortunately, the ending sums up the meaning of the story fairly well in a few sentences, lol. All told, it was a pleasant hour long walk from the beach to and up through the mountains. On an unrelated note, I always check to see if you can die by walking/jumping off a cliff. You can't die, lol. You can however put yourself in a position where you end up having to swim for a while trying to find a bank to climb back out of the water as I did, lol. Anyway, my actual play time was right at an hour, and I was pleased with the experience overall. Would walk again. 7.5 mountains traversed out of 10 possible. If you like exploration games/walking simulators, I think you will enjoy this.
If you found this review helpful and would be interested in supporting my Curator group, it would be appreciated. You control an unknown man as he slowly ascends the Mountain of Fire: as you walk along the path you're accompanied by bits of music and a female voice. While looking extremely pretty the world of Drizzlepath is sadly void of content and what's there is hard to make out and/ or too cryptic to be engaging. PROS: -the graphics are truly nice -the short tunes that accompany your walk are very, very good -the narrator's spanish accent was quite alluring -gives you quite some space to explore off the beaten path CONS: -the graphics also have several problems such as warping textures, a poor draw distance that leads to noticeable foliage and texture pop-in, and a somewhat buggy character shadow -as alluring as it may be the narrator's accent makes it quite hard to understand her lines -the audio mix is problematic, in several instances the music drowns out the narrator's voice -lack of subtitles makes things even worse when you try to make out what the narrator is saying -the actual narrative (from what lines one manages to understand due to the aforementioned problems) is pretty cryptic and lacks substance -exploring is mostly useless, apart from a few easter eggs there's not much else (all the narrative occurs on the path) -very short, you can be done in an hour or even less if you don't explore around too much http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=546704094 Drizzlepath is a truly nice looking game, the landscape looks great if no graphical glitches or problems are present: the music is also very nice with a warm guitar sometimes accompanied by piano or harmonica, in fact it was so nice I wished there was more than just the short pieces you hear whenever the narrator is speaking. Sadly though once you're past its great graphics and soundtrack there's not much actual content even considering all the leeway the walking simulator genre gets: the narrator is hard to understand due to the accent, her lines are often overwhelmed by the loud music and what little you can make out of them is so vague and enigmatic that it's hard to feel engaged in any way. I'm sorry but there's a fine line between wanting to be ambiguous, forcing the player to try and make sense of things, and coming out as deliberately obscure just for the sake of it. I'm sure the graphics and relaxing walk will be enough for some, and in fact there's a good amount of positive reviews, but for me there's simply not enough meaningful content to be had and this turns Drizzlepath into a beautiful looking but equally empty experience, one I can't recommend.

There are too many technological problems for me to recommend this game. First, no matter the lower settings I have, the game always seems to lag. I played many games on Steam with high end graphics and it went smoothly. Sadly, this one did not. Second is that it doesn't save the settings I've applied to the game. So when I come back to play the game, I have to put it back to my previous settings. Third, it's hard for me to understand that accent. I wish they had subtitles so I can understand what is being said. To me, this game has been focused more on the graphics than anything else, which I absolutely frown upon. If the game gets updated with improvements and fixes, I may turn this to a positive review. Otherwise, this game is forgettable. Walking simulators should leave a good memory, and this one has failed to deliver it.

Drizzlepath is a little game of exploration (many would call it a "walking simulator") completely developed by one single man, Tonguc Bodur. Though that's by itself an impressive feat, it should not cloud any appreciation, which needs to focus on the merits of the game by itself. The game may be small, but the world in which you can walk (not run!) around certainly is not. Using the CryEngine, Bodur has created a world of exceptional beauty, with far-reaching views over sea towards towering mountains in the distance. The world feels rather tropical, but not in a lush way: animals are scarce, and the mountains are extremely steep and imposing. Sometimes it felt like I was walking like somewhere in the Andes (the setting of Macchu Picchu came to mind at a certain point), at other moments I felt like being in a completely unreal world out of a fantasy setting. The game allows for a fair amount of exploration off the beaten track (a path one can follow across the land and up to a mountain top), but there are hardly any incentives to do so. Rather, staying on track is more rewarding as every couple of minutes the game offers a quiet, beautiful sound snippet and an enigmatic piece of text read by a female voice with a heavily accent. The "format" of the game, so to speak, has clearly been inspired by Dear Esther, but the finished product is nowhere as polished or as inspiring as that game was. The hard to understand spoken texts let the game down, as they prevent the player from experiencing any kind of story. I made up my own story while playing, feeling like someone who went up the "drizzlepath" (drops of rain drizzling on my face all the time) in order to perform some initiation rite while experiencing a growing sense of danger, and maybe this kind of "fill it in by yoursefl" is what the game is all about. Graphically, although the landscapes are impressive and the lighting effects stunning, some of the textures are very bland and in some areas graphical errors abound. This makes the game feel almost like a study on "how to use the Cry Engine", but a very impressive study nonetheless and certainly one which I enjoyed playing a couple of times. Recommend, but only to those who enjoy a relaxing game of exploration

No clue. That's what I'm left with after playing, nay, experiencing this game. The narrative dialogue made no sense to me whatsoever. There were some things about chickens, donkeys and knives, death machines, Germans and Apaches. That's unfortunately the most I could get from listening (quite attentively I might add). Checkpoints have no meaning. Every now and then the "checkpoint" popup would appear and on my first attempt at working through this game, I thought "Great! I can continue this later". I realised my mistake as soon as the main menu came into view on my way out. No "resume" option anywhere. So I certainly have no idea what the checkpoints are for. They're definitely not there for you to continue it seems. The music I felt was completely out of place. It felt like I was listening to the soundtrack of Dawson's Creek - Drama edition. It didn't fit with the setting at all. And I'm guessing if I understood the dialogue, I would come to the conclusion that the music doesn't fit the message either. We'll never know... On the way up the mountain, some snow starts falling at a certain point. I, however, imagined it to be ash from Mount Doom on my to destroy the One Ring to Rule Them All. I had to make it entertaining for myself somehow.... Looking at the shadow of your avatar, he (she?) runs like ninjas do in anime shows. Arms stretched out beside the body, unmoving. Further proof of this person being a ninja is when you jump. The shadow clearly shows the Crouching Tiger stance. I'm putting that in the plus column. Anime ninjas are great.... I personally love walking simulators and I enjoy uncovering the layers the developer leaves for the player to find. Drizzlepath does OK as an attempt at such an experience, but it's plauged heavily by its execution. From the unbefitting music, incomprehensible dialogue and lack of effort in the avatar movements, everything element does its best to break the immersion and cohesion that a walking simulator should have. However much I want to, I can't recommend this to anyone.
