In the ever-changing environment, adapt tactics and gear to dominate your enemies, in an enormous sandbox world.

Suit up: Your Nanosuit’s speed, strength, armor, and cloaking allow creative solutions for every kind of fight.

Adapt: In an ever-changing environment, adapt your tactics to dominate on battlefields ranging from frozen jungle to alien environments.

Customize: A huge arsenal of modular weaponry provides unprecedented control over play style, with options ranging from the experimental to the alien.

Conquer: Life-like enemy AI requires a strategic and flexible playstyle, as new challenges – including a zero-g battlefield– require players to take the offensive and be proactive.

Explore: Choose your own path through the open world of Crysis, destroying obstacles, driving vehicles, and using the environment itself against your enemies.

This short review is less about Crysis, the game itself, and more about the lack of effort put into this "remaster." The original game had its fair share of glitches and nothing was done here to fix them. AI pathing issues like enemies moving back and forth against walls/objects, animation issues like helicopters turning sideways without animation and zipping into a wall and exploding, etc. just stupid things you can laugh at, They aren't as bad during the majority of the game since the way the levels are structured are semi-open with your main objectives being having to interact with/destroy an object, or reach a marker, which means stupid AI behavior can be ignored. However, during the final quarter the game decides to become more cinematic and turns into a linear scripted shooter with aliens where you have to follow npcs, clear waves of enemies or wait for scripted sequences to play out. The game completely falls apart here. Enemies will fall over dead with their AI deactivated when their hp reaches zero, but their full death animations won't play out so they won't register as killed by the game, forcing a checkpoint restart if you're lucky, or having to fully quit and restart the game, or, in the worst case scenario, a full level restart. The final level is especially bad at this, with bugs where the sort-of final boss straight up won't spawn once you reach the end, requiring a full level restart and hoping it fixes itself, or, upon beating it and waiting for the real final boss to show up, hoping a scripted event that leads up to it actually playing correctly and not ending up with the npcs not responding, in which case no amount of checkpoint restarts will fix it, so the level has to be completely restarted and you'll have to hope it fixes itself. These issues were present in the original release and no attempt was made to fix them here (there's other minor but annoying issues still present too, e.g. vegetation counting as an object so the main character will place c4 on a bush in mid-air instead of throwing it and not being able to pick it back up). This extends to the rest of the remastered trilogy, but the first Crysis is easily the worst and most prone to game ending issues compared to the sequels. The game itself is decent, though even back in the day it went downhill once you stop fighting human enemies due to the change in game structure from semi-open levels to a linear cinematic shooter like I said before. And even then there's some parts during its better levels where it gets kind of annoying to play, such as some pointlessly big barren areas where most of your time is spent sprinting from one place to another. This is one of those things where the sequels are way better despite being more cramped due to their console-focused design. In short, get this discounted and, once you reach the final few levels, watch the cutscenes and ending on Youtube. Or don't, since the rest of the franchise never directly follows up on this games ending and it was solved in a tie in comic.

A "remaster" based on the X360 code. What a stupid decision, tons of geometry, physics stuff, and even faces on NPCs are downgraded since they originate from the console versions of Crysis. CPU optimizations were also terrible at release, the latest update did improve this but I feel it could use at least two more patches addressing CPU multi-threading and fixing the downgraded aspects of the visuals. For $30 its a scam, get it for $4 or less.

What happens when you convert a game to PS3 and then use that code base to covert it back to PC? An absolute catastrophe that's what. This is an insult to the game and fans alike, nothing more than a half-assed cash grab. It runs so poorly and feels exactly like a broken console conversion would. Despite averaging 80fps, for me it still feels like 30. Mouse implementation is appalling, and feels like a joypad. The whole point was to make the game playable on modern hardware. Crytek have managed to achieve the complete opposite. It's been out a while now and they seem unable or unwilling to try and fix it any further. THIS IS NOT WORTH BUYING EVEN IN A SALE. Avoid it and mod the original for better results. Shame on you Crytek. If you were selling Crysis 4 (what we all actually want) You wouldn't be so strapped for cash that you would have to pull cheap stunts like this one. Another trusted developer goes onto the suspect list...
Positives:
+ No Denuvo DRM. (Edit: The Epic Games version used Denuvo at launch and still hasn't been removed from that version for now.) + Support for Achievements. + DLSS Support for Nvidia RTX Cards. + Still plays like Crysis (2007) overall, despite the negatives I’m about to list from what I’ve experienced and read from other people.
Negatives:
- No Cloud Saving Support. (Edit: Subjective opinion since some people felt it isn't necessary, due to the campaign's short length but I personally disagree.) - No Multiplayer and Crysis Warhead is still treated like the red-headed stepchild of the Crysis Family. - It’s based off the PS3/XBOX 360 version which means the benefits of being able to quicksave are completely gone and now, the nanosuit powers have been nerfed both in effectiveness and how they control/feel. - Apart from SVOGI and Ray Tracing, the “remastered” graphics artistically look much worse and uglier overall than the original PC version. Said Ray Tracing isn't worth the hit to performance since it only focuses on reflections. - Optimisation on PC is still busted thanks to Cryengine still only using single threaded performance from the CPU. This results in constant stuttering even at the lowest settings while using v-sync. - Lingering bugs that aren’t fixed in the Epic Games version still persist in the Steam version. - Now uses EOS (Epic Online Services) despite strictly being a single player experience. - Casts doubt that the remastering efforts for Crysis 2 and 3 won’t be a disaster, since both of them will be still Epic Games Store exclusives for a year. - All of these negative aspects, combined with no actual improvements equate to making the 20% discount at launch and an extra 30% for those who own the original PC version, still a complete rip-off for what you’re paying for vs what you get.
Overall:
Buy Crysis (2007) instead and use graphical mods if you want a superior remastered experience. Do yourself a favour and save your money from buying this shoddy excuse of an official “remaster.”

They have fixed most of the performance issues after Nov 17. The game runs stable 60fps at mid to high settings on 1650 + I79750h Laptop(Similar to the Minimum Req).

✖ Built on the Xbox version ✖ Some areas still look worse than the original ✖ Still extremely single-threaded performance ✖ No quicksaves (???) ✖ No multiplayer ✖ No Warhead ✖ HDR does not work ✖ Achievements failed to trigger AND ✖ Saber even managed to screw up menu colors somehow HOWEVER ✓ VTOL level no longer runs at 15 FPS So unfortunately that's gonna be an instant 10/10, based™ remaster. Actually had a blast replaying this, goddamnit. Definitely check out the Improvement Project tho... It fixes tons of bugs, missing audio, particles, geometry, NPCs and a bunch of other stuff. Yes, the community had to remaster the remaster. I fucking love videogames.

Remade a PC game on the console then ported the Console game to PC. Guess how that went.

I own both the original Crysis and this Remastered edition and you would do well to skip this one. The "upgraded" visuals are only slightly noticeable really and the one big change they seem to have done with this edition is remove the ability to manually save your game which is a pretty damn stupid thing to remove. You're basically playing a console port of a game that is inferior to it's original edition at this point. Now you're at the mercy of the game because you never know when that next checkpoint save is gonna happen. Console ports to PC are an annoying habit that game developers think they should be able to get away with. Don't buy this one and send Crytek a message.

This is a regression. Worse graphics, worse gameplay, no multiplayer, ported from the consoles port. And to make it even worse, they unlisted Crysis (2007) for this Clouds look cheaper, there's no chromatic aberration, when the first alien attacks you damaging the parachute it just spawns next to you, instead of seeing it come from far away, UI colors and translucency are cheaper, water foam looks cheaper, stars are still low resolution Running drains the suit's energy, and it even feels slower than before. Armor drains energy. It always defaults to Strength mode when coming out of Cloak mode even if you were using Armor mode, making you vulnerable in the middle of a fight and costing you a restart. Also they decided to remove save games, so you are at the mercy of their checkpoints now. The suit instead of feeling cool and powerful is now an energy management task that barely helps you Enemies immediately and sometimes magically know where you are, this reduces greatly the stealth component of the original game. Before they needed to see you, but now not anymore Last couple of levels crash on the original game, here they just stop responding and the game won't close No multiplayer at all. No online, no LAN mode, no splitscreen. They could have even tried adding Coop to a remaster of a triple A game that is one of the best selling PC games, but no, they removed it all It's supposed to be better, not worse
