  Still one of the best tactical stealth games! Played it back in 2000 and it still amazes me.

  I can confirm that the game is running nicely on WINDOWS 8.1 x64 without any tweaking or adjustments whatsoever. Multiplayer over LAN works as intented too, you just need to run the server app located in the game directory. All in all , an excellent classic game whose life got extended with the modern systems patch. Thanks devs :)

If you want a great and challenging game, look no further. [h1]Long version:[/h1] Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty is a stand-alone expansion pack for the critically acclaimed classic isometric strategy/stealth game, Behind Enemy Lines. Like the base game, it features a group of commandos in eight scenarios, who must complete a set of objectives– mostly sabotage– deep inside enemy territory. Although all missions are loosely based on historical events, there is no actual plot, only short briefings. BtCoD is notorious even among old Commandos fans for its difficulty. The levels are not only gigantic– larger than the biggest one in BEL– but they are also full of enemies placed in the most nefarious ways possible. To combat this, all commandos received new abilities. Some are unique, some are universal: for example, anyone can now distract soldiers by throwing rocks, or lure them with cigarette packs. There is also a non-lethal way to deal with enemies now, letting you take hostages to use as distractions. On some levels it’s almost impossible to progress without using these “puppets”. The imbalance between characters wasn’t really addressed, since you still need to use the Green Beret or the Spy to silently kill or knock out, and to carry enemies. Therefore, the role of the others is mostly reduced to hostage controllers. Still, this difficulty is what made BtCoD more memorable, and probably even more loved than the original, which will seem way too easy and short in comparison. So, if you ever want to experience some difficult game that is not just another indie platformer, you can always rely on Pyro Studio’s classic.

  Loved this game since its release. It took me 2 hours to fix it so it would be able to run on a modern pc. Got it up and running, now it asks me to insert cd. Why isn't that fixed? how can i put in a cd when when i for one dont have a cd/dvd on my pc. Secondly, shouldn't that be fixed since its via steam? It was cheap to buy so not a huge loss. I really love this game so why dont they optimize it for modern pc's

  It is always hard to follow up such a great game as Commandos : Behind Enemy Line was. But some how they have done it and very well indeed. This follow up has reached such high standards as the first one did, if not higher. This is great. It just carries on the first one with manely just a lot more missions on it but also a few extra wicked features and ways to pley the game which are all worth it. Havent you always wanted to be able to capture an enemy soldier who's friend has just opened fire at you? Well now you can! You can move the soldier to where ever you want with in a certain range and they will not fire at you, which is such a great touch to the game and makes it much like a real life situation. An extra from the injection, you can you some ethanol and kill then that way. It just adds to the variety of different ways to do it. One of the funniest parts of the game is to be able to hide and then throw rocks at the enemy and see them look round at you to see nothing. Another great touch that is added to this is the cigarette box. You either get given one a the start or you can take it from a dead body. It is just used like a decoy. YOu just lay it down to attract them and then creep up from the behind and they have no idea. Its i funny in a way that they have no idea what you are doing. The locations are as good as the ones that you are put in when in the first one. They are that good. There is not really much else i can say but it is all in my review about the first one. Lets just hope that Commandos 2 will live up to these two and i think that it will!

  This goes for steam and not for the game, steam guys, why are you sellings games that doesn't work??? I had to fix a bug problem looking on forums wich made imposible to save game, and after that the game crashes on the main menu or in the esc menu. Really, why do I need to create an account to get support if I already have my steam account, lookes like a trick to avoid giving support to your users..

  The Commandos series are one of my favorite childhood games. I bought the Commandos collection, great games, worth every penny. 10/10 I highly recommend buying the collection. P.S. Running great on Windows [strike]8.1[/strike] 10 x64 with no speed problems/compability issues. Hell I can run the game in widescreen.

  Not suitable for newer OS. I have win7, and the game keeps jamming, I couldnt get any help from the forums. I do not recommend for newer systems. I love the game though, its challenging, but the fact it doesnt work on my pc drives me crazy.
