  Solid DLC. This campaign (north africa / mediterranean) seems a little harder than the original but offers enough differences to stay interesting. You dont have to play the first to play this, its starts as a fresh story. The B-17 is nice. its not just a reskin; it has additional crew, layout and other little touches (All guns have ammo feeds, more guns etc) The additional crew and intial bombardment of unlocked gear can get a little messy, but it adds to the chaos that already is Bomber crew. Hope theres more to come.

  So. After 15 missions flown and three enemy aces shot down and half an hour spent in painting my own pin up on the plane I think I've seen enough to write a review. This DLC is rock solid. Massive additions. Small princing. Lot of fun. But what's in the box. - A Gosh Darn new plane. A B-17F variant coming whit 9 crew members and 7 gun turrets. In all it feel like a different craft compared to the Lancaster of the base game. Larger crew and more guns means you need to be more aware of whats going on. The Gun layout is also different and so are your blindspots. Like the lack of a frontal turret makes you less dynamic in combat. - A New Theatre of operations. The Campaign takes place in Africa and southern Italy, the mediterranean in general. At the beginning, wiht the Axis still in africa, you'll have enemies jump on you in a very short notice. While the map is not that different from the base game it still is a very good and positive addition. - New Enemy ships. In the base game you had to deal only whit a few U-Boats. Here there is a whole navy. From Battlehips, to AA barges. The enemy ships will create flak barrages almost everywhere so the Sea is no longer safe from ground fire. Given the map we are in its surely a nice addition. They are also given as target creation some new types of mission. - New Enemy planes. One of my favourite new additions. Fighting in italy we just could not le the italians out of this. Out of the 4 new enemy planes you'll also face italian Cr.42 Falco biplanes and SM.79 Sparviero bombers. The Germans will come at you whit Stukas and what I think is basically a Bf-109 Zwilling. Two bf-109 fused by the wings turining it into a heavy fighters. They are not so special in themselves but they are welcome non the less. There are some cons? I personally found just two. - The difficulty spikes rapidly. While this could be just my perception at a certain point the enemy started coming at me whit Jet fighters and rocket planes. It was very sudden. Up to that point I never had one of my crew being injured and having to be healed. Then even 2/3 ended up down. I dont think that I had made only perfect decisions up to a certain point for things to change that much. - The enemy aces. While there is nothing bad about them what I dont like is that despite two out of the four planes being introduced are italian all the enemy aces are german. Even the ones flying the two italian planes. I would've loved to see some italian Aces, just for the sake of it. But in the end neither of theese two issues, one of wich is strictly personal, the other may be just bad luck, are very problematic. In the end I think its worth more than a shot. And given the price you wont regret it anyway. This DLC really opens up what the possibilies of bomber crew are. Maybe in the future we could see a campaign set in the pacific flying a B-24 or a B-29. Maybe well'end up flying a Pe-8 on the Eastern Front whit a Soviet Crew. Or maybe even a German campaign on a small He-111 or an unrealiable He-177. Anyway this is a great addition to the base game so as I said if it inspire you buy it. Probably wont regret it.

  Sadly I have to agree with some of the negative reviews for this DLC. I love this game and I hate to give it a bad review....Some major balancing needs to be done to make it fun. This DLC puts you in a no win state where your only options are hard missions with no easy missions to grind some money....I like a challange but come on! I'm honestly supprised this made it out of testing.

  TLDR: The campaign becomes too difficult to enjoy and there is no way to grind out gear at a certain point in the USAAF campaign. Also, none of your DLC weapons are available to you for early game grinding / planning. I Do Not Recommend until there's a Mod or another balance update but after this point in time I don't predict that happening. Long Review: I adore the standard / British campaign and love the different ways you can upgrade / customize your Avro Lancaster and it's crew! There is a lot to love about the base game and I've enjoyed it thoroughly. However the difficulty of the midpoint of the USAAF campaign / DLC is beyond frustrating. As many folks below have mentioned, there is a point in the campaign that you will hit a wall and be unable to proceed because you don't have enough firepower, armor or other tools on your B17. I've been stuck at this midpoint in the campaign ( Operation FOGGIA ) and there are NO lower tier missions ( currently only three red missions available to me ) to help me upgrade up my gear, so I simply can't progress anymore. There is a great guide on how to play here, but I still just end up getting shot down myself: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1178665544 I do commend anyone who played smarter than myself and smashed through this very difficult DLC and while I still love to play, I just wish there were bigger rewards and a larger variety of green missions to play so I can upgrade my gear to stop getting shot out the sky by Rockets with pilots duck-taped to the body, shooting me down with even smaller rockets ON EVERY MISSION. Duck, Dodging and Weaving doesn't seem to do much when your micromanaging everything else. Recommendations I'd make to the devs: 1. include more random green/blue missions in every mission briefing choice, so we can grind up gear like in the base game. 2. Add a difficutly choice from one of the menus ( like Space Crew ) that would half the amount of enemy planes so your survival rate can be much higher Thank you for reading this far and I hope you, dear reader, have a good one!

  B-17, .50cal machine guns, bombs, explosions and... AVIATORS! 10/10, might even be better than the base game. Thumbs up for a great realization of a highly requested DLC. Worth every ration card you own. In short, a great DLC for an already great little game!

  10/10 B-17 i can lose more crew members without very much affect to the mission unless its the mechanic i just playe a mission and i did the corkscrew and he flew off the engine couse i forgot to bring him back him RIP Mechanic man 2018-2018

  Nice DLC but it's a little bit bugged...when the electrical or hydraulic systems break down, the turrets and the radio keep working with no problems at all. I mean, yeah, we're on a B-17 and we all know how good the americans are at war but break the game rules MAY be little too much. Purchase when on sale, definitely not worth 7€.

  I've put MANY hours into the DLC, and let me tell you that I enjoyed every second of it. I''ve completed the campaign, and it has been worth every penny. First off, this DLC manages to capture the perfect amount of challenge and balance. More crew members means more firepower, but it also means you have to pay so much more attention to them to make sure they're alive, and that the gunners are on the guns that are facing the enemy. There are also many more enemy aircraft and ships in each mission, so you have to stay on your toes. Secondly, the DLC makes progress at a fairly good rate. You'll still have some grinding to do, if you want to be on OP levels, but overall it feels very nice. Thirdly, Aviators. So many beautiful Aviators. (You can even equip them on the base-game Brits!) Fourthly, it requires skill. It has about the same learning curve as the base game, but anyone who has been playing it for a good amount of time shouldn't have many issues. Fifthly, it feels very polished and well done. The controls are great. The responce time is great. Everything is great. And lastly, it is EXTREMELY fun! Seriously, I see myself burning so many days away because of this. Especially since I'm challenging myself so much. Honestly, I HIGHLY recommend that you pick this up. It's cheap. It's fun. And you'll have a hell of a good time!

  I want to make clear that the main campaign is absolutely worth getting along with the Secret Missions pack. This however I can not recommend. As many have said the balance is so off. For one the amount of money you get for missions compared to what the upgrades cost is way off compared to the main campaign. Don't bother doing the optional Recon Objectives since now for whatever reason they don't give you bonus money, just research. I'm not joking, I literally farmed the first 3 missions for 3 hours just to get enough money for decent equipment. After that the mission difficulty ramps real hard. The first time I played the DLC I made it halfway through the campaign when I got shot down. I literally could not continue the game as I could not get enough money to get my upgrades back to a decent state, since you get too little and the upgrades cost too much. The highest RADAR upgrade is $15,000, the highest in the entire game. You cannot get that much without killing the aces, and there's only 3-4. It's such a shame as I was really excited for this DLC and the B-17 itself is really cool and plays different enough from the Lancaster to not just be a reskin. But the difficulty makes it such a grind that it's not worth it. I've sworn to never play this DLC again until it's patched. But given it's been over 4 years now, it's looking like never. Hope we can get a sequel to this game someday.
