  [h1]Bloodstained Castlevania III2: Dracula's Curse of the Attack on the Moon[/h1] [b][u]PROS[/u]:[/b] This is another title that emulates the classic Castlevania games, and is very similar to the original Bloodstained: Circle of the Moon. The main character has all of the same moves that he had in the last, and will be easy to slide into after the first. However, improvements were made on the level design, with what seems like very few sudden hit and instant death traps, feeling a bit stronger as a result. The bosses are still a blast to go up against, and the soundtrack hits just as good. [b][u]CONS[/u]:[/b] Sadly, this game feels a little too similar to the last. The constraints on movement while airborne, the knockback, it's all here. There is a lower difficulty setting for those who want to escape knockback, but the larger abundance of bottomless pits shows that knockback was in the game's design. A lot of the extra passages may also be confusing, until the final episode has been unlocked. [b][u]ACHIEVEMENTS[/u]:[/b] Just like the previous title, this will be a challenge to some. Amusingly enough, it will take 6 playthroughs of the game to clear the list, just like the last one. Thankfully, however, it isn't as difficult, just a little time consuming. Just bring your "A game,' and hope for some luck. [b][u]FINAL[/u]:[/b] This is, once again, another stellar throwback, and in many ways, a better game than the first. Though some of the same problems still exist, they did fix many of them, making it a worthwhile sequel to grab.

  Better than the first! The boss fights are kicked up a notch requiring more tactical gameplay. Awesome.

  I loved the first game. Played through every route, got every ending. Bloodstained 1 is a great game, go buy it right now if you haven't already. But I found myself exhausted trying to play through the sequel. BloodStained 2 tends to resort to a lot of cheapshots / asshole game design. Large clusters of enemies that feel unavoidable to get past without taking dmg or just having Hachi ready, and many maps with bottomless pit for enemies to shove you into, makes playing this game feel like a slog. Call it old school challenge, but I call it frustrating. I really want to like this game, but I can only try to convince myself "it'll get fun, keep practicing!" so many times. Off to the uninstall folder with you. Strongly urge caution before purchasing. Look up game-play footage before you decide to commit to this one.

  Tough game, although it does get tiring having to repeat through the levels. It was 4 episodes and a secret 5th. Just like the previous game, you have multiple characters you can play as. Although the plot in this gets more interesting despite having to repeat through the levels.

  I feel like developers didn't understand what made the first CotM so great and beloved. We enjoyed the challenge, yes, but it always felt fair and well designed. This game just says f*ck it and fills rooms with enemies/pitfalls. It's just frustrating and not enjoyable, which really sucks because I loved CotM so much but I guess I'll just replay that and RotN.

  COTM 1 was arguably better than ROTN in my humble opinion, with an admitted personal bias for 8bit and retro themed games. Now with COTM2 this Classicvania style game is yet another entry into the glorious retro resurgence and is definitely one of the closest to a spiritual successor of the original Castlevanias (1-3) on NES. This sequel implements Dominique as a spear user similar to Eric Lecarde of CV Bloodlines for Sega Genesis, further evoking more retro Castlevania games. Thank you IGA and Inti Creates for this installment.

  If you enjoyed the first CotM as much as I did, you should definitely consider picking this up. I'm also very impressed at how attentive the developers were during early launch hours to fix the issues we were having. More importantly, thanks for setting a good example of how things specific to this nature should be handled. *** UPDATE - Game Version 1.1.1 has fixed the stuttering issue mentioned below. *** Old Review: The game is micro-stuttering every 3 seconds from 60fps to around 54-56fps when the game window is focused making it incredibly frustrating to play or even look at. When the game is NOT in focus it runs without stutter but cannot receive inputs. CPU affinity+priority variations, admin, windowed/fullscreen, force v-sync on/off, and various compatibility modes all did nothing to fix the problem for me. Please fix this.

  I played both CotM 1 and 2 in Casual Mode only, so keep this in mind while reading my review. I'm serious, if you are one of those people that think playing in Easy is a shame, ignore this review, really. So how is the game is Casual Mode? It's fantastic. I took about 13 hours to get All Achievements, and it was a blast. It's so much better than the 1. Every single detail that was bothering me in the 1(like jumping on stairs that are outside the displayed field) has been changed in the 2 for the best. The new characters are fantastic. Dominique is able to do so much, Robert is thrilling to play, and Hachi is just so good that I need to dedicate a paragraph to it. It is broken, sure, but its hitbox is so big that you also need to be very careful with it. Its invincibility gauge needs to be used with wisdom, and its hover rewards you so much when you spend time learning in details how it works. Really Hachi is just so good. "Spoiler Paragraph": Seriously it is so good that when you unlock the Solo Mode, I immediately did a Solo run with Hachi and it was a massive blast. Now, I know that the game is way harder than the 1 in Veteran. Even unfair at some point. But sorry, I don't care. Casual was just so much fun, that I'm gonna replay the game for a long time I think!
