  Horizontal cute 'em up bullet hell. Different witches with varying speed and shot types. Gorgeous cartoony graphics and great music. Bullet cancelling and special powers.   If you're a fan of danmaku and shoot 'em up games you're definitely gonna enjoy this. It's cute and charming.

  Trouble Witches Origin is a shmup that really wants you to abuse the resources given to you. Unlike other games where your special resources aka bombs or survival tools are very limited, this game actively wants you to keep spending the power ups you buy in the middle of a run via the shop mechanic you fly into mid-stages. Between the mechanics of the magic barrier to slow most bullets down, the special power ups and the pretty wide range of characters with DLC including Cotton of Cotton fame, there's honestly a pretty hefty content package here to mess around with. A deceptively challenging game that increases in difficulty exponentially the further you get, it also feels super satisfying to keep pushing for that "one more run" feeling and dipping your toes into higher difficulties. Challenge, engrish, goofy anime things: all of these things blended in the right amounts make for something that kinda surprised me with how fun it feels to play the more you get used to it. One minus I can mention about the game is that leaderboards let you continue to keep your score going but at least still leave a number at the end of the score denoting how many credits were used at score submission when that run ended. Balance wise Cotton is kind of OP/training wheels thanks to her massively improved MP bar and magic circle compared to a standard character, but there are still separate boards per character as well as overall boards. In the end though, it's not enough to turn me away from playing this game for at least a little while.

  Update on Game Breaking Bug: DO NOT set the game to fullscreen or it will never boot up again! The only way to fix is to delete the 2 save data files and overwrite the Steam Cloud save with the new one without settings. Very fun high quality shoot 'em up bullet hell game. Excellent to have in your library for a quick arcade run. Each run takes around 40 minutes. Crazy and difficult as hell with tons of colorful bullets and flashing stuff on screen even on normal difficulty. Unique bullet freezing mechanic and interesting skill magic cards. 5 characters to choose, each one with different speed and bullet type. Beautiful and charming art/graphics that looks like it's hand drawn and good character designs. Story mode is voiced, which is a nice addition. Lots of fun, I was impressed by this game. Totally recommended. Dirt cheap when it's on sale. I'll keep playing until I can beat the arcade mode without using continues lol I hope the developers are still making the second game and release it soon.   Fun side scrolling danmaku. Sprites are large and well detailed and laid against generally pleasing backgrounds that contain both 2D and 3D elements. Some of the background 3D can appear a bit low res at times but it is not too much an issue overall. While the visuals are very good and well detailed on the whole, it is worth noting that the resolution is capped at 720p so while it looks fine on a 1080p display I imagine it could appear somewhat blurrier on higher resolution displays. The gameplay is tight and responsive with a surprisingly high degree of difficulty. Each of the characters have a general rapid shot and the ability to create a sphere around themselves that slows down enemy bullets and converts them into coins. The movement is a little fast and takes some adjustment as there is no focus button as far as I'm aware. There are spell cards that take the place of bombs, they vary in effect but most produce some offensive effect like a wave shot, a rain of fire balls, bubbles, a special rapid shot, and more. Enemies convert into coins that are automatically collected by the player when the spells are active. During normal gameplay the player must release the shot button for the coins to be absorbed. All in all a fun and challenging side scrolling bullet hell.

  Very good horizontal shmup with good music and is fun to play especially is you are constantly looking for good shmups on steam. Its even better than playing it on the Taito X emulator.

  i used to play this on the 360. they added a ton of stuff and im happy they finally brought it to steam. It is still as fun as it was back then if you like cute anime girls and bullet hell then pick it up

  Just as fun as I remember it! This is the only proper version you can get your hands on now since the 360 version (which has more playable characters) was taken off Xbox Live. Very good shmup with a unique bullet freezing mechanic, pretty good humor and cute artwork! Don't let the cute factor fool you, the game is pretty challenging! Oh yeah while it is translated for the most part, there is some hilarious engrish at points

  WOW! Easily one of the cutest shmups out there. Its even cuter than Deathsmiles, and as good for half the price regularly. Great job Rocket-Engine Co.
