This game is amazing. It plays kind of like Pikmin, like you might expect with a bit less multitasking. The art is fantastic. I had played this game during one of the demo periods and found the controls a little lacking, but they've fixed that. The controls feel nice and tight now.

This is a positive review, but with caveats. Firstly, let me say there is a lot to like about this game. The artwork is beautiful, the music is relaxing, and you can tell a lot of imagination and love went into the game. I really enjoyed how unique all the Spritelings were (not just in appearance, but how they had different skills you had to utilise to solve different puzzles). This felt really original, and was beautifully done. The puzzles were challenging without being frustrating, and I really liked that both Wake and Kirby had different abilities, and could therefore be utilised equally (rather than having one as the 'lead' character and the other supporting). The world and characters were really imaginative, and I loved all the Greenshields' names (e.g. Toothpicks because she's so good at stabbing enemies). I particularly liked meeting Cath and Aatto, and wish there had been more non-human characters like those. The side-quests of finding lost relics, and rescuing cats, helped make the game feel homely, and gave a sense of depth/history to the world. Also, the map (an often overlooked feature) was detailed and easy to follow, and I liked that you could improve the detail of markers on it by purchasing maps from Paper Planes. All that being said, there were times when I found myself playing purely to finish the game, rather than because I was actively enjoying it. Take the combat system as an example. Although there were certain enemies that you could only use particular Spritelings against (which did bring some diversity), the essence was the same: just throw Spritelings at the monster and then stand there while they kill it. If some of your Spritelings expire, you can just make new ones (indeed, the abundance of pips made this so easy that there never felt like any consequence to losing them, except that they were so cute that I felt bad seeing them turn into ghosts). Also, I found the monsters respawned much too quickly. If there was a need for resources which the monsters dropped, then I could understand this, but since I hardly made use of the crafting station (just to make oople juice, and other health restoratives) I felt the constant respawning was a bit excessive. In the end, it became a nuisance to have to re-clear a path I'd just cleared the previous day, and I ended up just running past the monsters as much as I could. To me, it felt like this was neither fully a puzzle-game, nor a combat/crafting game, but somewhere awkwardly in between. Other reviews have said the story is tear-jerking, but I found that it dragged a bit. I'm not sure if maybe some cut-scenes didn't trigger (perhaps I was too focused on completing the puzzles, and didn't talk to people in the Grove enough?) but I think I only got 3 scenes of Wake/his Dad, and 2 of Kirby/the Green Witch, which didn't really feel like enough to flesh out their past and characters. Similarly, the main villain only appeared a couple of times (and didn't do much except talk threateningly and then disappear), so I didn't get much sense of foreboding from him. As I say, perhaps I missed something, but I think it would have really helped keep my motivation up if there were more cut-scenes sprinkled throughout the game, so I felt as if the world was changing, rather than that I was just doing the same thing over and over. To sum up, even though there were areas where I felt the mechanics/storyline lacked depth, the game is still worth buying for the inventive puzzles, the rich world-building, and the beautiful artwork.

Just getting started but the game is incredibly beautiful and full of details. The music is fantastic too. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. It's just a really chill game to run around throwing your army of spritelings at everything and watching them bust stuff up, collect items or build stuff. The characters are cute and the story is mildly intriguing. I haven't met up with Kirby yet so I think I'm still in the early game.

This game is pretty fun, and reminds me of a games like Pikmin. You get to travel around a big natural world that has puzzles and baddies to deal with, and the game has the player relying heavily on their tools and their Spriteling companions. Similar to Don't Starve, nightfall is deadly, and staying out at night in the middle of the darkness is certain death, and the player is encouraged to go towards encampments where the light wards off the nightmare creatures. The game has a motley assortment of odd characters that are uniquely charming and desirable to befriend if one can get past how unusual they are. Last but not least, secrets are hidden all over, the player can re-explore numerous places to rediscover all sorts of things, and it is worth backtracking after one acquires new tools and new Spritelings to discover every secret. While the secrets are perfectly optional, they can often be very helpful.

It's good. The art direction and music are doing the heavy lifting here but some of the gameplay mechanics are surprisingly interesting and unique. The story is keeping my interest so far as well. Buy this game at full price and support games with great art that take risks.

I didn't expect to finish this game, we will go on an adventure using two players with different abilities, plus along the way, there will be more and more followers with different abilities (poison resistance, ice resistance, fire resistance, etc.) needed to solve puzzles or defeat enemies to continue the adventure. It's funny when you have many followers (up to 60) its looks like the gang who is ready to fight any monster I like the concept of time they use, there will be ghost monsters that you can't beat it, that appear at night, but at the same time, there are puzzles that can only be solved at night. There is a sense of nervousness when the music changes in the afternoon to indicate that it will soon be night and the invisible creature appears, and returns to calm again in the morning It's good that they added a relaxed mode for those of you who find it difficult to fight monsters and want to enjoy exploring.

Loved it within the first few minutes. It's like a story you'd see somewhere between late 80's and early 90's. The art, the music and that dreamy heartfelt story. I hope to see more of this world or style as it was something lite that was seriously needed at this time. Also this game needs Point Shop content, who doesn't want an arcade emoji from this game.

I'm so happy I got in on the kickstarter. It's a really nice puzzle game and the little spritelings are too adorable! I also this up on the Switch.

An extremely cute adventure game! The art is beautiful, and the different sections of the map are all gorgeous. It's also got a respectably large map and long game play for a story-rich game with hand drawn elements. If you like Spiritfarer or Wytchwood, you'll likely enjoy this too. As someone who games to relax and doesn't like tons of combat, I appreciated that The Wild at Heart offers story mode, which reduces the number of monsters. That said, the final boss is extra challenging when you haven't practiced combat as much!
