This game is absolutely bad. You cannot change the controller mapping, the missiles go very fast and are very hard to avoid, level 2-3 is impossible because you need to guide a missile to blow up a wall and you can't guide it because it goes so fast, the rewind only works when it feels like it... overall, pretty bad

it feels like the game is trying to do too much at once. you have all of these different puzzle mechanics that are only needed for a select few levels, but its not like youre going to do the levels when you can just enter the cheat code to get all achievements except the last level, which only takes a couple or so tries to complete. the game tried to pack as many gimmicks as it could into its 30 minute whizz but didnt sell it off right enough

Redactem is the perfect game for those of us who love nothing more than mindlessly blasting away at hordes of enemies while simultaneously questioning our life choices. It's like therapy, except instead of talking about our feelings, we get to blow stuff up. The graphics are so good, I almost felt bad about obliterating everything in sight. Almost. The soundtrack is amazing too - it's like Hans Zimmer and Skrillex had a baby and named it 'Epic Dubstep Battle Music.' The only downside is that the game is so addictive, I lost my job, my girlfriend, and my dog. But hey, at least I have Redactem. And honestly, who needs a job or a girlfriend or a dog when you have a giant laser gun and unlimited ammo? In conclusion, if you're looking for a game that will make you forget all your problems and turn you into a mindless killing machine, Redactem is the game for you. Highly recommended!

Redactem is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial shovelware pushers and asset flippers, Big Black Bear/ImperiumGame. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab. This time it's Redactem, yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere, badly made, minimal effort, a definite cash grab. It's a basic puzzle platformer with terrible graphics, clunky handling, and a gravity inversion mechanism (that's all there is to it). Dozens of better games feature this and more platformer features, so this is scraping the bottom of the barrel for a shallow genre. Big Black Bear/Elliott Jones/ImperiumGame (how many accounts do they need??) have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself: <*> "Bird" = Sky Flight Full Game Template developed by Puppeteer <*> "Kitten and Food: Adventure Park" = Cat and Food developed by Softrave <*> "Relax Fly" = Sky Flight Full Game Template developed by Puppeteer <*> "World of Feudal" = Tayphyn developed by Bocharov Anton <*> "Mad Bus" = ZigZag Infinite Runner Game developed by Puppeteer <*> "Factory Pirates" = Polygon Pirates Low Poly 3D asset pack developed by Synty Games Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The artwork here is terrible, it's a blend of old retro pixel "art" used as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics, and some of the most amateurish MS-Paint style drawings I've ever hurt my eyes on. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can do graphics properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result of these decisions. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the poor choice of using node-webkit/NW.js instead of a serious game engine. This is a very poor quality toolset for gaming, sometimes used by amateur developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities because it's primary function for games is to make simple HTML/browser/simple mobile apps rather than full fledged PC games (and given we are here for PC games, you can see why this is a problem). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Redactem has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for finishing the first very basic tutorial level (less than 15 seconds game time), but only around 8 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show only 8 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the game? Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators (Garage Games, GalesCorp etc) who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk. Redactem is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
