  [b]In Short: Recent update ruined the game for me. Very poor decision making from devs, removing a system purely to lock it behind a predatory paywall. I doubt I'd get my money back at this point, but I feel cheated out of every skin I've bought since the initial tint system was released. If you plan to paywall a feature, NEVER make it replace a FREE one that was considered part of the game. [/b] [u] Now for the details [/u] [i]I really hope the devs see this, they need a wakeup call [/i] [i] Some background [/i] This was one of the rare team death matches I enjoy (although I was hopeful for the sandbox mode mentioned several times in the road maps). I'm not one of the most regular players, but I would hop on, play for a while and support the game by buying a couple of cosmetics whenever I saw a positive update to the game. There has been a couple of new systems added. One whereby the community would make modified dinosaur models that would be added to the ingame loot drops or to the store. Initially, most of the best mutations were reserved for the store, but this has since been improved (a good thing, in my opinion) and trading seems a viable alternative. [i] The recent update [/i] Another was the tint system, added to allow personalisation in the form of eye colour and saturation tweaks to each skin whilst still keeping to the original concept. This prompted myself, and likely others, to purchase skins that normally appear too saturated (especially with some of the newer visual effects) and apply a new lease of life on them this way with this system in mind. To my utter disgust, this system has been removed in lieu of a buggy, money grubbing alternative that a painful number of fans are excusing away on the discord (where most of the remainder community is active). Now, to edit a skin in ways that you previously could for FREE (after purchasing/earning a given skin, obviously), you have to pay for paint 'buckets' (sham colour palettes that barely make an impression on most skins/combos) and a colour mixer to apply them. The cheapest possible combo (with a 'slot', to be described in a moment) being over $5 dollars to apply. Hell, even an eye colour change! A bucket will fill a single colour slot, or layer. Usually, this is meant to correspond with a part of a skin (to allow for more 'advanced' options than the prior colourisation system). In practice, most of the skins I tested each changed the exact same part of the skins and left the rest. Each bucket and the colour mixer required to apply it (permanently, thus ruining the skin for future trades might I add). All in all, this system is less effective than the previous, more buggy and costly for no apparent reason. What's more, pointlessly so! Many have to play hours to obtain a skin they like and most just end up buying one of the ones from the store instead (judging by my own experience and the sheer number of store bought cosmetics I see in game). The tiny system encouraged people to buy more skins that they knew they could tweak if the colour wasn't quite what they liked, aka MONEY for the devs. But no, this apparently wasn't enough for them. [i] Conclusion [/i] Why didn't they leave the free one in and have the more complex bucket system added for more detailed layered combos? Because it's overpriced and they know it. No one would buy the buckets if the old was still around because it's not worth it. I hope others like me will stop buying skins for the colourised potential and that the greedy devs learn their lesson that moves like this will LOSE their business money in the long run. For an older game like this, you are reliant on a loyal community and support. When the game can be repetitive due to many of the modes not being viable and poor server options, one stable income was the cosmetics. Do cosmetics mean the be all and end all? No. But they are a huge way to encourage people to come back to the game to see what's being added from both the community and the general updates. Quite frankly, gameplay alone there are newer, preferable (and balanced) games. Many stay because they like the aesthetics.

  If you like a game that's just an endless cosmetic money-sink with no comprehension of balancing or repairing bugs that've existed for 5+ years then this game's for you. Free roam community's overrun by pedophiles that hide behind a dozen alt accounts and admins who ban you for PvPing on a game with the literal 'PvP' tag used on its Steam page. TDM community is full of elitists that'll rofl-stomp you for 4 hours and tell you the issue is 'get gud' when in reality the devs break human team's balancing on a consistent level every major update.

  Ok, let me start off with saying I absolutely love this game. The gameplay fits me well with the asymmetric team system, with plenty of different play styles. The level of customization is off the scales with the wide variety of cosmetic color skemes. But the reason I gave this game a non-recommendation is because of both the lack of dedicated-ranked servers, players, admin abuse and the loot crate system. Before I get into the issues with the community a.k.a servers, players, and admins let me explain the loot cates. Throughout the game you'll receive certain crates dedicated to either dinosaurs or humans now this would be cool if you didn't need these damn keys. First off you need to get a key either by buying it or receiving it randomly. I'll just say in my 13 hours of game time I haven't gotten a single key. Second off each crate takes a certain key which means if you want new dino skins and you get a human key it'll be of little use to you. This whole system is very reminicsance of a free-to-play buissness style which this game isn't and you still have to pay the entry fee. The next point I want to cover is the horrible and lack of a community. The multiplayer mostly consists of free roam servers which are boring AF and are basicly chat rooms with dinos and if you do anything to make an admin mad say good bye because you'll be instantly kicked by the 12 year old admin. The ranked TDM servers aren't much better as their run by players not Pub Games. Which means you'll be kicked if you don't follow their dumb rules such as no more than one tyrant which is only posted in chat and could lead to you missing it. Then you get either kicked or banned thus limiting the already small amount of ranked servers you can join. Oh and the single player is almost non-existant with only a boring survival mode and free-roam by yourself. Overall I give the game a 4/10 although the gameplay itself is fun its very unbalanced and this gameplay can't negate the fact that the community sucks and the porly implemented loot box system.

  I can't describe how disappointed I am with the developers. In the first Primal Carnage, it seemed like they really just wanted to make badass game. I played it for years. Just recently I saw that Extinction was on sale, so I decided to take a crack at this new and (hoping for) improved version of a classic incredible game. Primal Carnage Extinction is literally, and I can't stress this enough, the original Primal Carnage, copied and pasted with shittier graphics, horrible gameplay, and a new skin system. There's nothing quite like trying to trap some unrealistically black raptor and being slashed and killed in two hits, or being shot down in one hit as a Pterodactyl while some scientist with a fancy $5 hat t-bags your body. I'll just wrap it up with this; an amazing, action-packed game has been butchered in every possible way with this disgusting rendition of the classic. Bad graphics, bad gameplay, bad everything. BUY THE ORIGINAL.
