When Lucius was 6 years old, he did not suspect what gifts fate had prepared for him. Now - the young Antichrist must pave the way for his father from Hell - bloody sacrifices, the approaching Apocalypse! Pros: <*>+ Visual style <*>+ Achievements <*>+ Trading cards <*>+ The plot repeats the original game Minuses: <*>- Possible bugs spoiling the passage. Total: A quality remake of the original game. The authors conveyed the whole atmosphere of the game, the plot and many small details. The passage of the game can take more than one hour, even if you have already played the original game. The offensive moment is the fact that you can completely screw up the passage of the game - forgetting to pick up some little thing at the beginning. The game is recommended to all those who are nostalgic for the days of VHS, CRT TVs and 8-bit consoles.

The "Lucius" demake is exactly what Lucius 1 should've been... A mostly narrative experience where you're in control of the devil's son! No third person adventuring in the mansion, no... straight up to the fun part where you murder a maid and blame someone else for it. If you're not familiar with Lucius, this is a "demake" of the game where you play as Lucifer's son, in a quest to gather as many souls for the demon king as possible... by brutally murdering people around you while trying your best to avoid suspicions... almost in a Death Note fashion. The original Lucius was great, but I think this format just works better! Demaking that game was a genious move because not only do the Atari graphics add an eerie uniqueness to the game but it also scraps all the adventuring and exploration you've got to do, jumping you straight to the killing. I can't emphasize enough how amazing this game actually is... Yes, it's a demake! Yes, the graphics might turn you off, but also Yes, the killing is quite satisfying once you put one and one together. There are also night sections where you have to avoid your mom's flashlight in an attempt to sneak into your grandfather's room to steal rat poison... that you'll use the next morning to claim your next victim. Good times there kiddo! I rate the game 9/10 because, again, as is the case with any "retro-like" game, the filters offered by the devs are quite limited! I thought this game would still look amazing, in Atari graphics, with the right refining and tuning. However, Lucius Demake just WORKS; and here's hoping they also demake Lucius 2 and Lucius 3, which, in my opinion, sucked really hard and require some sort of reviving... and what's better than reviving them in glorious Atari graphics.

Ah, the Lucius series, "The Omen" of video games. The first game in the franchise came out in 2012, and it has been highly regarded by the horror gaming community as one of the best, and more original (although ripped off from a movie) titles of the genre. A thick cloud of anticipation surrounded the release of Lucius II in 2015, but alas the follow-up flopped due to massive performance issues that included poor frame rates and a severe crashing problem. As such, Shiver Games have led us to Lucius Demake, a devolved rendition of the original Lucius game. I will get into the nuts and bolts of the actual game a little later. This paragraph is for those of you who have played the original Lucius title, and are interested in how different or similar the Demake may be. Well, I can confirm that this release is a 100% accurate recreation of the first game, done in an awe-inspiring Commodore 64/Nintendo retro vibrancy that somehow causes the horror elements to be much more eerie and sinister. This is perhaps not ode so much to the graphics, but the outstanding chip tune compositions that are still looping in my head; to get a feel for the audio, think of the Splatterhouse soundtrack. However, it does also help that the portraits of Lucius and Lucifer, as well as the highly detailed pixel-art kill scenes, have a pronounced creepiness to them that will send a chill up your spine. You will enjoy reliving every aspect of the first Lucius game in a disturbingly downgraded glory, tick for tack. Every piece of dialogue, every kill, every room, every chore, every skill, even the map... everything here is completely the same, aside from the graphics and audio. Do not come in to the Demake expecting anything more than a graphically different experience, otherwise you will be very disappointed. It's truly amazing how Shiver Games have been able to faithfully recreate their original game so perfectly and spot on, but yet it doesn't feel stale or repeated. In fact, it's much more fun to see the demise of each character in a 16-bit, 2D world. For those who are unfamiliar with the this series, you play as a six year old boy named Lucius who is actually the son of Lucifer. The game begins in 1972, during his sixth birthday party, where you'll first get a feel for the game by making Lucius kill the family maid via locking her in a walk-in freezer and then blasting the old bag with sub-zero temperatures. This is just one of over ten deaths that you will be responsible for throughout the game, and all the while a detective is investigating the mysterious deaths that keep occurring in the manor that Lucius resides in. The story is very straightforward, and if you've watched The Omen (either the original or the remake), you will pretty well know what to expect. While you're slaughtering people in the manor of your family, Lucifer will give you new skills every few levels. These skills will be instrumental in avoiding getting caught by your mom and dad while attempting to sabotage a victim, and for also aiding in the death of victims. There are crosses placed throughout the large manor which will drain your power bar once you get close to them, making it impossible for you to use your demonic powers; that is, unless you flip the crosses upside down, to which your power will then replenish. You can keep track of your progress through any mission via an in-game journal, and once you have completed two chores (brush your teeth, put away your toys, put away the laundry, etc), a ouija board will appear in Lucius' room; the board, if interacted with, will provide hints as to how you can accomplish your deadly task. With all of that being said, Lucius Demake is like opening up a really old, yellowed book and taking a nice big whiff; the nostalgia, in every auditory and visual sense, is pleasurably overwhelming. While I greatly enjoyed the first installment in the series, clocking in at just under 44 hours, I'm enjoying the Demake even more thanks to its retro appeal that somehow makes the game a million times more eerie, especially thanks to the unforgettable chip tunes. If you missed out on the first Lucius game don't worry, I actually recommend the Demake over it, but it's still a great horror title to check out at some point. Either way, whether you have or haven't played the original, Lucius Demake is an unforgettable and unmissable experience.
Rating: 5.0/5.0 - An astonishing achievement, this game must be played.
The Horror Network Curator | Group Click for Gore

This Game is Killing it Setting: You'll probably know the story of Lucius if you consider to buy this demake version. But anyways you get born on a stormy day on the 6th of June 1966 as the son of Satan and you have to kill literally everyone who lives or works in your family home. Content: The game contains 18 chapters in which you have to solve some not that hard riddles and finally kill the people by manipulating objects, controlling minds, or just kill them with fire. There are also some "sidequests" which allow you to unlock items that will give you hints every chapter. It took me about 3-4 hours to complete the game. Gameplay: Movement is achieved through the arrow keys instead of using the standard wasd-controlls which is no problem at all because a mouse is not needed for playing the game. One can access the special abilities with the keys from 1 to 5, Q for the diary, W for mounting the tricycle, E for the inventory, TAB for switching through targets and F for the flashlight. These controlls seem pretty inconvenient which they are in the beginning but you will figure this out quite fast. If you wish you can also use a gamepad (I noticed that after my first playthrough...) which makes it way more convenient to play. Athmosphere: The C64 artstyle and the 8-bit soundtrack (actually I am not sure if it's 8-bit) harmonize well together and makes the game very enjoyable. Performance: The game's system requirements are that low that everyone expect it to run well which it did for me. I did not experience any crashes or bugs. Recommendation: I desperately recommend the game for those who:

like the C64 artstyle
like old-school soundtracks
like psycho stories
played the original game
(I am sorry for grammatical and orthographical mistakes. English is not my native language.)

Lucius Demake, as its name indicates, is a demake of the original Lucius game. It is made to look as if it is actually from the late 80s, complete with 2D pixel graphics and 16 colors. The story in Lucius Demake is the same as it was in the original game. Lucius is a game with strong links to "The Omen". The player takes the role of Lucius, the son of the devil, who has to clear the mansion of it’s residents. To do this he must orcastrate “accidents” without anyone suspecting him of any foul play. It takes 3-4 hours to finish the game completely. For those who liked the original game and for fans of "The Omen" a must have. This demake looks, plays, and controls better than the original game. It actually made me enjoy the original game more than I would have otherwise (I completed the Demake before playing the original game).
Lucius: Demake
Recommended for those are into pixelated graphic, horror adventure and unusual story. TL;DR version

[th]Items (Alphabetically)[/th] [th]Score (1-3/3)[/th]

Control and Gameplay 2/3

Fun Factor 3/3

Graphic 3/3

Replayability Value 1/3

Sound 2/3

Story 3/3

Value for Full Price 2/3

LONG VERSION 1. Control and Gameplay : the controls are easy to adapt with, you could use both keyboard and joystick. Need rebinding for playstation one joystick type (I use this one). The moving speed is either average or very quick
(only ]if you are riding the tricycle)
. Simple shortcut easy to remember with. Warning there is might be a bug on gameplay but worry not auto-save and save/load system ready to back you up. But aside from incoming bugs, I think there is no lags or anything prevents you from enjoying the game. Note: developer puts system for you to report bugs and reply quickly and it does matter for me. Thanks! 2. Fun Factor : cute pixelated graphic and catchy old school tunes might remind you of older, nostalgic games in 1990 era. The story which puts us to be the literally evil protagonist is also unique.
Actually I am excited on how Lucius will kill the next person and I literally wait for the dying, pixelated graphic and horror tunes. I really wish the killing way is up to the players not how Lucius wants it to be done, but again it's story-driven so it's best this way
. 3. Graphic : need to say more that I love pixelated graphic?? Not the best pixelated image though (yeah of course, they want it to look 'old', because they already have the 3d epic one), but still cute. Sometimes that makes me confused on who is who because it presented in the simplest way, and I think it's hard to could really tell who is the main character or side ones.
I did not aware of Nancy being Lucius' Mom, I thought she was a maid instead
. 4. Replayability Value : too bad there is no replayability value for me, because there is only one ending and almost all things are linear. Unless you replay to get the missed achievements or simply to wander around the manor. 5. Sound : catchy 8bit tunes. You will get used to the "I'm gonna kill you~" theme tune, believe me. No voice acting (duh) but some items produce sounds (like the tricycle or camera). 6. Story : evil son who just learn the art of next level pranks and the joy of bloodshed. Can't say more, real parenting done great. You say Lucius is bad? Nah, he is a very obedient kid.
Well killing own Mother is kinda cruel yes, but what he has done to Charles I think it's cool
. 7. Value for Full Price : to support the great developers out there, why not? But yaay I get it when it was on sale. Friendly reminder: very short game
(I finished it with 100% achievement in around 3 hours)
. BUT it worth every minute I spend into. I just wished it last longer. Thank you for reading!

If you've already played the original Lucius you may be wondering why you would want to play it over again with horrible graphics. But if you're like me and never played through the original games, then Lucius Demake is an amazing satanic puzzle game with great music, atmosphere, and a huge house full of people who's lives are shorter than they know. I'll admit I had to look up a couple parts online, and the "boss battles" took me a few tries, but overal Lucius Demake is a great game that I highly reccomend if you want to bring out your darker side.

Lucius Demake well to tell you I am a good bit conflicted. On one hand this is just the first game in Pixel/Retro form, but on the other hand in a lot of ways this is the better version of the two. But let’s start with the story. This is a remake of the first game which I have already reviewed, but if you have not read it here is the story. You play as Lucius AKA the antichrist; it is up to you to do your real father’s biding and give him souls and to get stronger. There is not a lot to say about this game, but what I liked about it. The 8-bit music was good. Liked the little pics/cutscenes you got after each kill was good and gruesome. The puzzles were less of a pain/they were good. Price is not bad. Really I have nothing bad to say other than it’s a remake of the first game with just Pixel/a Retro form. So with that being said, I say get this game. It’s not too much to buy but if you already have the first game then you don’t need to get it unless you’re a fan of the Lucius games.

Game breaking bug where the game skips the first chapter and you miss out on being able to grab a key item that you need to finish a later mission. Disappointing that this happened because everything else about the game is quite enjoyable.
