If you've always wanted to be stranded in an alien world, where you can punt the wild life, slap the snot out of annoying encounters, swing like Tarzan, or be poo'd-burped-farted-vomited-and-all-manner-of-splatted on, Kindred has the perfect opportunity for you! As a bonus, you will be provided the most fantastic sarcastic AI you'll ever meet in the universe! If you're a lucky candidate, you'll spend hours exploring every planetary orifice while collecting beautiful postcard souvenirs of where your last body met its untimely demise. Be the first, be the last, be the 42 that come between! It's a win win...or maybe a when-when. anyhow, stop thinking about it, and just give them your money already! Not convinced? Here's a poem to help seal the deal: Spikes and stones may break your bones, but bombegranates will exterminate most everything. Come on, already! Hop to, before you get a poke in the eye! You'll break your fun-o-meter for sure!

one of the few games that kept me engaged long enough to 100%. If you like games about exploring and surveying like subnautica or no man's sky, but want something a little smaller in scale, then this is the game for you. Its also got a very engaging story with a mystery that has a very satisfying payoff, and it is quite funny. 4/5 a very solid game.

Bought it on sale for 15€, definitely worth the buy. The negative reviews are mostly about the lenght of the game. If you think that 30 or even 15 euros are "too much" for 10+ hours of dense gameplay, with no stupid forced filler quests or diluted gameplay moments etc., then go play the next triple AAA game with 1000 hours of promised gameplay where 100 of them are for fishing and another 300 for walking.

It's nice, but I don't think it's worth more than half of its already 40% discounted price. Really short, fairly linear exploration game. Past shoving 60 scoops of orange goop in your face it's pointless to look for them, since they don't increase your health/stamina nor even give satisfying popups. Same with other collectibles. Played with a friend, got about 80% of collectibles in base game and 40-50% in DLC in about 6 hours total + breaks with the game running. As well as nearly all the upgrades. Not that the rest of collectibles were hard to find, just wasn't anything to gain in looking for them at that point. First location in the game is great to explore. Second is mediocre. Third is pretty good. Final stretch is meh, but the boss is okay. Didn't like the DLC location at all. It reminded me of Borderland's 2 Doctor Zed DLC, except the local Claptrap wouldn't shut up about your oily fingers the whole time. Monologues from the AI throughout the game were nice to listen to as background noise and the ads on the ship were nice, but I don't see them as a selling point. This is more of a platformer with very simple puzzles that are fun to do at first, while you still think they get more complex. But they don't evolve at all later on once you get the upgrades that remove the restrictions from your tools. In the first area you could blow up a wall with goop behind it if you get a bomb seed and can throw it before its 5 second fuse expires. But later on you just pull out that same bomb seed with no restrictions and blow up the wall blocking your path and that's collectible done. Third area is probably the most fun due to story relevant challenges that freshen up the experience, but those aren't very common. Combat is not worth talking about much, using your tools will make it so you'll breeze relatively easily through most enemies. Charged shot on the pistol is completely useless, though. There are 3 levels of charge, and you have to charge from 0 to 1, from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3. The effects on it are cool, but the whole mechanic just doesn't function with the game's monsters at all. Most enemies that live long enough for you to care to charge up only die when their weakpoints are hit. And it's way more convenient to hit them with regular spam fire, since a charged shot will often times just bounce away and only hit the single spot it was fired at. Same with bosses. You could spend a few second overcharging and nailing a shot on a boss's weakspot, but breaking it like that wouldn't do more damage than just spamming regular shots that are way harder to miss and don't take half a minute to cool down. Might be a regional pricing thing, but it's absolutely not worth the price for this amount of content compared to most other games. If it actually was half its current discounted price, this review would be positive.
What I liked:

The humor
Exploration based gameplay
Lite combat

What I didn’t like:

Co-op feels like an afterthought
Grappling
Ending and bosses

My Score:
C
Quick Summary
Bite Sized No Man’s Sky is all about exploring a planet with a heavier focus on combat than it should, it does allow a friend to tag along, just don’t expect it to be a great experience with said co-op as it doesn’t have any mechanics that reinforce collaboration. Also without the humor I and many others would not recommend the game.
My Personal Curator List

More in depth:

THE HUMOR IN THIS GAME I THINK IS THE BEST PART, if you’re into jokes like ads that parody stuff about life, an dark ones like killing babies and the description when scanning enemies, and even in some gameplay ones like getting animals to fart to give resources. It hits a very sweet spot of being dark, stupid and witty without being cringe which it could of easily done like so many before. I really did love the ads alone, every one of the them made me just stop and watch.
The COMBAT gives you one pistol that you do upgrade with meaningful damage and reload ones with a charged shot that felt un-needed and cumbersome with how to activate it. With the final tier requiring to hit the reload button while full ammo twice to let only one shot bounce, so much work for nothing. But other than that one issue, YOU DO BASICALLY ONESHOT MOST CREATURES BUT A GOOD CHUNK REQUIRE A UNIQUE WAY TO SOLVE IT, dodge to the side and shoot it’s back tail, sneak behind and poke it’s eye out, or is it a boss, that I thank them for not being a chore to fight. Having bosses last under 2 minutes is perfection if it’s not going to be a souls-like game in my opinion.
Most of the gameplay involves exploring the planet using plant life and upgrades in the standard metroidvania way to reach new locations to progress the story. YOU GET LOTS OF SECRETS WHICH THEY TELL YOU THERE IS ONE AROUND WITHOUT TELLING WHERE, which is a nice compromise to keep the pace from coming to a crawl while searching every nook and cranny blindly. You get either resources to unlock these gear upgrades or a health and stamina unlock which require more to increase with each rank up. The jumping especially with the jetpack booster feels and looks nice with that black smoke trailing behind and just traveling the planet is fun and highlights non-combat can be fun.
THE GRAPPLE FEELS WEIRD as it’s mostly just a point and grapple to that point, with rare swinging sections. It just feels either laggy or not knowing if the prompt will show up or not. It’s hard to explain but it feels like almost like a quick time event in feel and not an organic extension other games do better. But I did just come from It Takes Two and that felt way better than this.
The BOSSES were a huge letdown, luckily they don’t last long. They are either just shoot the weakpoint while they do nothing and you barely need to move to not get hit. I don’t think they should have had these as they are a huge sore on the games polish and speaking of polish. The end of the game is by far the WORST ENDING I’VE SEEN. YOU FIGHT THE FINAL BOSS THAT IS LACKLUSTER AND THEN IT JUST CUTS and ends right there end credits, it was such a shocker and felt out of place we both laughed it. You can continue afterwards and return to the ship to get another cutscene ad thing that is all story without any jokes and man the story is boring AND WITHOUT AN HUMOR REALLY SHOWS THE MEDICORE EFFORT AND CHARM THE STORY HAS.
For those looking for a CO-OP experience, this is a basic as you can get, it’s what I call a tag-along experience, nothing wrong with that, but for an exploration game, you can miss out on content if you guys aren’t literally doing the same thing. You can goof off and laugh at the jokes and engage in one cool fight where one aggros an enemy and the other shots it’s back, but the rest is JUST BASICALLY PLAYING SOLO BUT WITH A FRIEND, and I expect more when a game has co-op. And also ended terribly because the final boss had a poison pit that I spawned in and you don’t respawn and miss the ending because the game is way too easy. I just wish the co-op system had more like the ones I mention below, but I feel it’s on par with people that also like No Man’s Sky
PAID: $15 COMPLETED IN: 6 hours https://youtu.be/DGPE6LYQlRE
Games Similar I recommend:

It Takes Two
Outer Wilds
Supraland
Deep Rock Galactic
Overcooked 2
Slime Rancher
Journey (Played on Playstation 4)

Games looking to try next:

Book of Travels
Trash
Biped
Snowrunner

Don't be confused with my played time, I beat this game on Switch. On the official web site they advertise this as a "Adventure, Metroidvania" which is pretty accurate. This game is not a First Person Shooter mainly like a Call of Duty or Halo. It is also not like Deep Rock Galactic where you mine , explore and shoot bugs. Journey to a Savage Planet is a Jump'n'Run Adventure game where you mainly run around, explore interesting environments, search for secrets and be amused(or not) by the jokes the Developers put in. There is some combat in this game like small enemies or bosses, but the main game is about exploration. I personally enjoyed my time with it allot and I plan on beating it again on PC where I will play the DLC too. I did like that it is not a FPS first ... there are far too many of those already around. In Journey to the Savage Planet all you get is one Pistol, that can get some upgrades like a Charge Shot, but there is not that much combat and if there is it is allot more about how accurate you can place your shots. If what you search is a relaxing, laid back Action Adventure where you can run around a pretty Nintendo like world then I would give this one here a shot. It is very similar to the Metroid Prime games in that you can Scan stuff and find Secrets. But it has quite less Combat and weapon variety then the Metroid Prime games. Graphically I would say ... it is not behind them, though they are already quite old at this point in 2021.

8/10. A bit short, but very fun. Remember to scan everything, even the hostile creatures trying to kill you! I went through the whole game never upgrading my explorer level. It could have been so much easier! I would call it a comedic 3D platformer.

When this game is at half price discount, go for it! The ending is rather unexpected but I am too bored to grind a game over to complete the rest of the achievements. Thank you for creating the game, it made me happy for 6 hours.
