Borked controls and feels like a port. Gun angle is off. Head steering only. There is a another movement option called "Controller" which means you push Y button to move forward. Again, steering is head only. You have to click in your thumbstick to run, and keep it down. I haven't seen a game do this since 2016. This game has all the hallmarks of a lazy port. Even the controls menu brings up the steam vr controller remapper. RESPONSE TO DEV: My point is Thumbstick movement is always locked to head steering. Locking my forward movement to where I'm looking is an old idea, but it helps with vr noobs and transitioning from flat screen gaming I should be able to walk forward while scanning my environment left and right. It should not induce zigzag serpentine movement forcing me to fight the stick and transition constantly between forward and left/right strafing. Please take a moment to check out controller based movement in other PCVR FPS games. Here are some examples: Contractors, Onward Pavlov, HL Alyx, Boneworks Saints and Sinners, Arizona Sunshine, Population One, Skyrim VR, Zero Caliber After the Fall Espire 1 From other Sons, Larcenauts Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy's Edge Asguards Wrath Medal of Honor Path of the Warrior Seeking Dawn Wanderer Resident Evil 4 Your response suggests thumbstick movement and headsteering are separate features or control methods. No. Thumbstick movement is lateral movement using the controller's stick. What determines the "Forward" can be based on head position, or controller position. "Controller" based movement as named by nDreams, appears to be a movement mode which, when pressing Y on the touch controller, lets me move forward. Y? Why y? What happened here? Is this a left over input from the PSVR port? Also, please have the sprint a click once feature to turn on. The player can run until he releases forward on the stick. Holding down click to run is the best way to break thumbsticks or at the very least makes the player tense up and long gaming sessions become uncomfortable. Adjust weapon angle while in hand would be a nice touch. [2nd Response to Developer] No. I didn't NOT clock a lot of time, but YES I DID get to play on my feet (as opposed to skiis). I'm not suggesting Controller thumbstick movement is not available. it IS available. We are agreed on that. BUT YOU DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HEADSTEERING VS CONTROLLER STREERING MEANS. Most games offer the FORWARD as either relative to the HMD head position or the controller position. You do not offer both options. Only relative to head position. DO. NOT. CONFUSE. THE. TWO. This is my second attempt and explaining.

This is not PCVR, this is a really low-poly PSVR game with very low-res textures. That said, there are many nice scenic views, and the very low-end graphics can look nice from a distance. If only the gameplay was awesome, graphics may have meant less, but this really feels like a low-IQ and mediocre shooter. Levels are simple, opponents behave like they have an IQ of 50 - and you're just wandering through simple boring levels shooting much the same simple boring opponents. Not even the shooting feels like fun, weapons feel kinda clunkly. I think a game like Medal of Honor: Above & Beyond is like 10 times better than Fracked. But again, Fracked looks like a mobile game made for the Quest hmds, while Medal of Honor: A & B - even with its shortcomings - is a fullblooded PCVR experience. Devs did nothing to make Fracked shine on PCVR, we just got a 1:1 low-end PSVR port. Feels like an easy attempt to grab some cash. Like in Quest games, there are no graphics settings in Fracked, and the game could surely use some settings for antialiasing. There are no dynamic shadows in the game - but many baked shadows. I'm using Index and a RTX 3090, i9 10900K (10 cores / 20 threads - 5.3GHz), 32GB ram and with res 500% in 90 Hz I mostly got 90 fps - but in a few scenes I dipped below 90 fps. So I reduced res to 400% (36 mill pixels per frame combining both eyes) - which still is totally overkill and shows this game does not need much gpu power. I bet you can play this game just fine using a GTX 970 or GTX 1060. I do love shooters, Alyx is my favorite VR game of all, but Fracked simply did not impress me, neither for the gameplay or especially the low-end graphics. To me this game would not be worth more than $15 - also the game is rather short and rated at about 4 hours. I'll refund, this game does not represent the quality of a great PCVR game - it's not even close, sadly. My rating 5/10.

Cool art style and a nice low poly aesthetic, but unfortunately first impressions aren't good beyond that. The game starts you off by doing a bit of downhill skiing where you steer by leaning your head side to side. If you're like me, it glitched as you loaded in, so you were perpetually spinning in circles while going down the side of the mountain. After making it past the skiing section (and almost losing my lunch), I noticed that the look joystick wasn't working. This was the result of the game unlocking controls incrementally as you progress through the second stage. Because this wasn't stated, I spent an hour and a half trying to customize and troubleshoot the frankly convoluted controller binds. After realizing that I needed to continue to unlock the ability to look, I found a gun. Unfortunately, said gun didn't hold in my hand quite right, so I had to awkwardly tilt my wrist down to shoot straight. All of these issues could probably be fixed with some mods and a bit of tinkering, but the out the box experience is not a solid one.

the climbing is alright and the skiing is interesting, but the shooting is boring and the AI is braindead. a perfectly "meh" game

Marked as not recommend cause there is no in between option The game is about 1.8 hours at most from me just going through it on normal. Its fun here and there but its not worth $30 for how short the game is. Only three enemy types, you only get two guns, the rest are temporary that vanish from your hand after you deplete its ammo. Story is interesting but you go to point A to point B quickly. The art style is beautiful but only snow here and there. You cannot two-hand weapons or even duel wield, might be a downer for some.

Refunded. I was initially impressed with the skiing and tutorial phase of the game, but later on, I found the overall gameplay to be lacking. Firstly, the free locomotion direction cannot be changed, despite the setting being available in the gameplay menu. It does not work and the locomotion freezes completely when you resume the game. So it seems the only option available for free locomotion is head-oriented locomotion. Secondly, the audio is too low, even when I increase the volume to the maximum on both my headset and in the game settings. The sound design is lacking, which is particularly frustrating during intense combat. Attackers can sneak up from behind, but you won't hear them until you turn around. This is my biggest complaint about the game. If these issues don't seem too bad to you, the visual style, the environment and the progress within the story/dialogue can be intriguing and somewhat fun to try.

I really don't understand all the dislikes, I beat it using a quest 2 via airlink and I didn't notice any major problems at all! Had a borderlands look to the graphics, shooting was fine, didn't see any graphical glitches or bugs...ran smooth as butter for me!

I'm enjoying it. It has a mix of gun play and climbing, but excels at neither. The head tracking is limited to the skiing sections only. They are awful if you are sitting, but are tons fun if you play standing. You gotta put your body into it.
