An interesting take on the Anno formula; however, I would not recommend buying this game at this stage, but definitely put in on your watchlist. It is a very interesting concept, with four different races and bonuses, upgradable buildings and building addon effects and so on. The graphics and the art style are both quite appealing. It is definitely an ambitious project, but as of May 8, 2021, it does not deliver as much. I will just talk about a few things that I wish that could be improved. First, there is not much noticeable visual difference between each races. The only difference is the "Town Center" building. The in-game mechanic is that the player build houses first and tenants from different races move in. With that in mind, it kind of makes sense that the residence remain the same design, but I would like to see more visual difference based on the race of different tenants. And that leads to the second problem. At the start of the game, you select your starter race, and through in game exploration process you will be able to find new races to join the community. This process seems to be random and you don't know when or which race you will discover next. Meanwhile, it seems that you cannot control the amount of each race. I would suggest to add buildings that specifically tailored for each race to move in. What further complicates the problem is that most of the production buildings have racially specific bonuses, which makes that building essentially "locked" for certain races, i.e. mines for the dwarves, lumberyard for the humans, etc. So you really want there to be certain amount of workers of specific race to trigger the bonus. I would suggest add different bonuses for all races, like the warehouse. Another thing is that it would be nice if the devs can move the pop-up event icon to the top left. It would be even better if a special panel is designed for it and add in some audio cue when there is a pop-up. Currently it is very easy to miss. Last problem I had is with the graphs and charts, or rather lack thereof. There is no way to monitor the production vs consumption of a certain trade good. It would be nice if the devs can show the actual product and consumption numbers.

A fun and ingenious take on the traditional city builder. Building up your settlement and managing different races within it in a fantasy setting is an idea I've never seen before. Plus the adventuring mechanic (a choose your own text-based DnD story) is filled with pun-filled, almost Monty Python-esque jokes and lore that keep you interested.

I'm gonna give this game a thumbs up. But it's a very mild thumbs up. Look the game is pretty good. In terms of simulator city building games it gives you what it promises, for the most part. And all those extra special things this game promises that other games don't have? It gives you those too. Overall it does what it sets out to do. So why am I giving it a mild thumbs up? Well because most of the stuff it gives is average. Not exceptional. Plus it's super bugy and super unfinished. Those things alone are almost enough for a thumbs down. Plus that big pricetag on top of it. But I give it a thumbs up because the premise is really good. The possibilities with this game are very promising. The fact that it's got a publisher who does a shit ton of these games is also another positive that this game WILL be finished. But keep in mind this game is NOT finished yet, and it's super glitchy right now. It's early access so its to be expected. But really consider this game before you buy it. It's basically banished with a few extra gameplay mechanics. That's it. Go Look up the game Banished if you odn't know what I'm talking about. The only reason why I'm giving it a thumbs up when it's basically just a re-skinned banished is because it has the possibility of offering us so much more and I'm hopeful and excited to see that new mechanics implemented. But if this wasn't enough for you then I encourage you to check out the video I put on my youtube channel (link below) as it has more detail and information along with actual gameplay footage. Thanks for reading and I hope I helped some of you to spend your money wisely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzXdliUs3sY

Game has been abandoned. It's been nearly a year since there's been any update on the game. That's always a very bad sign for early access games. Save your money, this isn't the town builder you are looking for.

So I have only played this for 30 minutes at this point but I am not all too sure what to think of it. I would recommend played the Tutorial although you can easily get a quick grasp on what to do, however there is no real way of telling how many buildings of X can support and supply Y, so maybe that is something the Tutorial will explain to you or a future Compendium might. That aside it struck me as a Version of Anno, simply put in a medieval fantasy environment. Except that the controls are still clunky (can't pull streets around corners, they can only be built in a straight line so you will have to keep click and drop and start over again for every corner you are building). It also feels a bit awkward in terms of range as a lot of buildings have just that (remember how I mentioned Anno earlier? yeah your hubs, marketplaces and certain production chains only have a specific range) but there is no real indication when you place it or select it, until you eventually reach it's ranges limit. Anno did solve that by showing the effective range by the time you build it or select it after having it built so you can plan ahead. Essentially it is yet an Early Access Version of Anno set in a Medieval Fantasy world but so far it lacks a lot of content to keep you going. I will return to this at a later point but I was a but disappointed in the lack of mechanical polish (maneuvering menues, building stuff, etc, feels clunky in general and it keeps freezing for several seconds when loading initially, so far as to windows actually thinking it crashed and showing an error message, but if you wait a bit it will actually work again) and it just does not really offer any content at this point, to motivate me to keep going. Get it if you don't mind having to check in on it later again (maybe a few months or so, idk how they plan to progress the games development, which pace, which focus etc), otherwise I suggest you wait to give it a fair chance at a later point. The following is something I would like to make a general point about, it is not directly related to this title but seing as this may be among the first reviews, hopefully Devs/Publishers see it: Early Access needs to stop being a thing. The end result will for most games just be crippling reviews and even if the game redeems or reaches a quality that would redeem, they rarely get that chance to properly do so. Rather add another year of Development to your internal roadmap and release a free DEMO (!!!!) that only has parts of it, but release will be at 100% than having to deal with peoples disappointment and the likely following reviews and loss of interest! PS: The review says YES, but only because there is no "WAIT AND SEE" option! Edit: Early Access should be for titles that are finished or closed to finish and just need final touches such as for example the last acts are missing or polishing touches on mechanics, UI/UX, or balance. Instead Early Access somehow turned into a "well we will just release it and then then finish it over the next year or three years but essentially it is in Beta stage but we did already put in all the models so we can claim it's Early Access". To give it a picture: What Devs sell as Early Access at the moment would be the equivalent of General Motors asking you if you wanted to test drive their newest car but you would ofcourse have to prepurchase it. And then they sit you in the cars frame and give you a random round object the found somewhere at the beach so you can pretend you got a steering wheel, and then they tell you to just make the vroom vroom noises yourself and pretend the car is driving. That's beta status, things exist but aren't put together yet. This NEEDS to stop! Thank you

First off. I don't know if the people who bought the game understand early access, or have never played an early access from the start. I had purchased Kenshi back in 2013 and wasn't released til 2018. This game has been out for a total of 8 days at the time of writing this review so i'm confused as to what they are expecting. First Impression, don't buy this game unless you're willing to take a risk and see how the game progresses. The core mechanics are up and have a few bugs here and there. Building, managing, and the small adventure u get from clearing the tiles on the map with heroes u recruit and can level up are implemented but can use some work to make this more enjoyable. At the moment a lot of the requirements to play the game, such as populations, wants , needs make this feel way more sweaty than just a casual management. I got 10 hours of gameplay before i had to give up due to it just being way too overwhelming to get through the Civilization stages and keep things flowing smoothly. Placement on the map is Static. Currently you spawn in the same spot on the map, and the resources u discover are also at the same location. You can get a couple playthroughs but this gets old very quick. I'm excited to see whether or not they decide to tone things down and make it more enjoyable to play rather than a grind / job feeling. But overall don't buy it yet, especially at full price. Wait til the end of the year to see if they polish it up enough

Fantasy sim games always seem to be cursed. This one is really no different, at least in its current state. Yes, I realize it's Early Access. Yes, Early Access games tend to be rough and are arguably not real games yet. But they do cost real money. And I can only judge the game that exists now. So I'm giving it a negative review because it's important that developers realize you only get one chance to make a first impression. When and if the game improves, I'll be happy to update it as I have for many others. If you want to pay money to help playtest a young game with some charming art and some interesting concepts on the off chance that it will actually be good someday, by all means, buy in. But realize that when this one says Early Access, it really means it. EDIT UPDATE: So. I posted my review of this game and thought no more of it. A pretty, if mediocre little Early Access Sim that may evolve into something great or may just sit where it is and be forgotten. I posted what I thought was a reasonable disclaimer on my opinions and stated them clearly, as can be seen above. That part of the review is unchanged. THEN it gets interesting. I normally tag my reviews not to allow comments because I think commenting on someone's review is stupid. Just go write your own review. But sometimes I forget. And it so happened that some enterprising fellow hounded me over to my Rimworld review, which did not have comments turned off at the time, and threw out a number of rude insults and accusations because of this review. This was, incidentally a brand new level 0 steam account doing this. So as I see it there are two scenarios here... 1) This new game by a fledgling studio that has produced literally nothing else has such a vociferous fanbase that they are willing to engage in some light cyberstalking to smack down any critics of their favorite game which incidentally does not really exist yet. 2) The devs are shouting down criticism via sockpuppet accounts. In fact - I suggested that this might be the case in reply to this strange fellow and guess what? He immediately deleted his comment. Not going to say which one of these scenarios I think is true but... draw your own conclusions. I got no skin in this game. I got no reason to make this up. But yeah. Be careful of this one, guys. Getting bad vibes here. Avoid.

The Developer is closed down and the entire team laid off, the game will never be finished from the looks of it. If you purchased recently I would try and get a refund. For those of us who had hope.. RIP.

Beautiful Game with great features, sad thing is that the current state of this game is "UNPLAYABLE". I did three play through in the last two days (Since Launch). Save files of every single run ended up corrupted/bugged. Currently Load Game option is not working at all. My suggestion for those who wanna buy would be "please please please wait until the game is fixed" Love the game though, Hopefully everything gets fixed soon.

Never thought of EA as a crowdfunding platform. @Steam: this isn't Kickstarter or Indiegogo. I know you write your way out of refunds in your TOS, but this was clearly a grab'n'dash. I spent 0,8 hours in this nightmare of a game, but now I can't get a refund (more than 14 days ago). You should refund us all. Store credit is fine.
